Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astrology Forecast for the week of Oct 18 – Oct 24, 2015:
This week starts with Mars / Jupiter conjunction visible in early morning hours over the eastern skyline. The conjunction itself was exact on the the 17th (late in the evening) but will be visible — with Venus visible as well and inching closer — for the entire week.
The ancients stressed the importance of getting those planetary energies on our “retinas” — rather than locating their positions in a book and then contemplating the astrological implications. So step outside and take a gander for yourself: the Mars / Jupiter conjunction brings with it an abundance of energy and enthusiasm. It inspires us to think about travel, adventure, spirituality, philosophy and higher mind pursuits. It takes us out of our comfort zones and gets us thinking about how the other half lives.
There’s an inconjunct between Mercury and Neptune on Sunday. This is a recurrence of the September 30th inconjunct between these planets at the exact same degrees (7° Libra / Pisces). The difference now is that Mercury is moving forward, where it was retrograde then. This time around the transit should be a little easier to navigate, although you still want to refrain from jumping to conclusions or relying on partial or mis-information.
Venus and Mercury are in mutual reception with each of these planets in the other planet’s ruling sign. The mutual reception can activate the positive energy for both planets, making for enhanced communications, especially where cooperation and diplomacy are concerned.
Mercury squares Pluto on Thursday, increasing the potential for minor misunderstandings to get blown out of proportion. This is not the time to try to back someone into a corner or force their hand. This aspect can be deliberately cruel at worst and hypersensitive to criticism at best.
It’s good for doing research but not so good for relying on whatever conclusions you arrive at. The potential for distorting things or interpreting them to meet your expectations is too high. Best to hold back on setting anything in stone, as the tendency to misconstrue things during this transit is greater than you may realize.
The Sun moves into Scorpio on Friday just as Mars opposes Chiron and Venus trines Pluto. Starting the Sun moving into Scorpio, we might see this as a time to start looking for more substance and depth in our lives. We may stop taking things at face value and ask ourselves what is really going on here? What does it all mean? We may become less interested in engaging in superficial social activities and opt to work more behind the scenes.
The Mars / Chiron opposition can manifest as an uncomfortable disconnect between the desire to be self-serving and the urge to self-sacrifice. On one hand (Mars) you want to assert yourself and satisfy your own needs. And on the other (Chiron) you understand that there are people suffering in the world and doing without. You’ll have to reconcile these two competing urges; getting involved in (or heading up) a community event — where you can see yourself making a difference — is a good place to start.
The Venus / Pluto trine opens you up to meaningful connections with others. Whether these are romantic / sexual in nature or just significant in terms of shared interests and ideals remains to be seen. But this transit brings with it elements of magnetism and charisma so be prepared to make an impact on those you encounter along the way.
Saturday’s Mars / Uranus inconjunct is compounded (and potentially complicated) by an opposition between Mars and the Moon. This transit is ordinally combative and intense, although the presence of the Pisces Moon may soften it a bit. Still, it’s not the time to lash out at anyone or take things too personally. Chances are good that whatever is said or done in haste during this transit will be all but forgotten tomorrow.
That’s it for this week, see you next Sunday!
