Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Oct 15, 2017 – Oct 21, 2017:
This week there’s quite a bit of activity involiving natural polarities (Sun / Saturn, Moon / Saturn, Mercury / Jupiter, Sun / Uranus). There’s also a planet changing signs (Mercury), a grand trine (involving the Moon, Saturn and Uranus), a t-square (involving Saturn, Mars and Chiron) and a New Moon.
Starting on Sunday, we have two rather difficult (and potentially volatile) oppositions. First there’s the Mercury / Uranus opposition, which pits the lower and higher octaves of intellect and communications against one another. Pay attention to what you say and how you say it. You don’t want to entertain someone’s attempts to rain on your parade by allowing them to push your buttons or try to pick a fight.
The Mercury / Uranus opposition can be brilliant and so radical that it opens your eyes to new ways of thinking. But it can also be opinionated and argumentative, so steer clear of those who choose to take that route.
Also on Monday we have Mars opposing Chiron. This aspect can manifest as an uncomfortable disconnect between the desire to be self-serving and the urge to self-sacrifice. On one hand (Mars) you want to assert yourself and satisfy your own needs. And on the other (Chiron) you understand that there are people suffering in the world and doing without.
You’ll have to reconcile these two competing urges; getting involved in (or heading up) a community event — where you can see yourself making a difference — is a good place to start.
Things calm down a bit on Monday with a sextile between the Sun and Saturn. This aspect aspect emphasizes logic, discipline and the rational side of this configuration and lessens the confusion just enough to get things done. It’s a good time to make plans and to assess progress that’s already been made. This aspect is both efficient and productive, so if you want to get something done now is the time to do it.
The Sun / Saturn combination is also very ambitious and goal-oriented. Bring them together in a harmonious 120 degree angle (trine) and you’ve got a fantastic recipe for success. And this is serious business: you may not feel like putting your party hat during this time, but you can get a lot accomplished.
Mercury moves into Scorpio on Tuesday. This placement can see you scrutinizing everything to the infinitesimal degree. This is an excellent placement for doing research and analysis, and can also be good for delving into the deepest darkest regions of your own psyche.
What it might not be so good for is communicating with loved ones. You’ll want to get a handle on the tendency to read into everything and see problems where there are none. This placement can be guarded and / or hyper vigilant. It can also be skeptical, suspicious or paranoid.
The good news is that nothing will get past you and no one is going to be able to play you for a fool. But the bad news is that this placement has so much difficulty taking anything at face value that having even a casual conversation can start to feel like walking through a land mine.
Mercury and Jupiter come together on Wednesday. Here we have two natural polarities — the natural rulers of the 3rd and 9th houses — joined together in harmony. We have Mercury — the planet associated with communications and ideas — conjuncting Jupiter — the planet associated with benevolence, good will and generosity.
Among many other things, this transit is good for opening your heart to those you love and expressing appreciation and gratitude for all that you have. It’s good for coming together with others and celebrating your allegiances while honoring and accepting your differences. It’s a time for feeling inspired and optimistic about the future.
The New Moon on Thursday falls at 26 Libra 35. And as New Moons always represent new beginnings and opportunities to start new, this one brings opportunities to reinvent yourself.
The Libra New Moon encourages you to focus on creating harmony and temperance into your life. This is going to be particularly important this month, as the New Moon is directly opposite Uranus.
With both The Sun and Moon opposing Uranus at this time things can get tense. Starting the the Sun / Uranus opposition: This aspect can bring conflicts with friends or relationship partners to the forefront. The Sun and Uranus represent natural polarities, as the planets that rule Leo (the Sun) and Aquarius (Uranus).
In this respect the opposition pits the desire to express yourself as an individual against your interest in figuring out where you fit in. The goal should be to find a middle ground between these two opposing views.
Bring the Moon in, and you may see emotional outbursts, hurt feelings, misinterpretations or distortions of the truth, and erratic or explosive emotional states in general. Much depends on where it falls in your own natal chart.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree is: “An airplane hovering overhead,” indicating a need to get some altitude and look at things from a more objective and impersonal perspective, rather than lashing out or over-reacting.
This transit can be wilful and rebellious, so be mindful of loved ones’ need to be themselves. This is not the time to try to force someone into a specific role or exert your own expectations on others. Want to know where this takes place in your own natal chart? Immediately after the New Moon becomes exact, it goes void of course — where it will remain until early Friday morning. The void of course Moon is a common occurrence; it marks the period of time between the Moon’s last aspect in one sign and its ingress into the next. Any aspects involving the Moon are temporary are likely to fly by almost imperceptibly.
But that doesn’t mean this period of time will be uneventful. There are still always transits in play: planets interacting with one another and blending or communicating their unique energies. In this case there’s a conjunction to Jupiter and then Mercury (both in early Scorpio). While the Moon is debilitated in Scorpio, this transit is fortified by Mercury’s mutual reception with Mars.
We end the week with a nice Moon / Neptune trine on Saturday. The Moon is still moving through Scorpio (the sign of its Fall) but Neptune is at home in its own sign, reinforcing the reflective and visionary effects of this transit.
Venus is also sextiling the asteroid Ceres on Saturday, which is all about expressing love and affection for those in your care. This may refer to pets or children, but if can also relate to those with whom you share a special sacred bond. Either way, this is a good way to wind your week down, in the comfort and companionship of those you hold most near and dear.
That’s all for now; see you next week!
