Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of May 6, 2019 – May 12, 2019:
We start this week on Monday, with Mercury moving into Taurus, joining Uranus, the Sun and Moon. Mercury in Taurus is patient, practical and serene. It can be slow and methodical, mainly because it doesn’t see the point in getting its feathers ruffled over things that are likely to iron themselves out over time.
With all these planets in Taurus, you’re more likely to be thinking a lot about your finances, your income, earnings and savings. It ‘s also a good time to look at changes you want to make in your environment (such as home renovations or landscaping) as well.
As Taurus is a fixed, feminine earth sign, it’s a good time to think about our value systems, the things that we hold near and dear, which as most of us know by now are not always “things.” We can [put good use to this energy by thinking about what is most meaningful for us, and what we can do to cultivate it during this time.
There’s a fixed t-square falling into place on Tuesday, involving Venus, Saturn and the North and South Nodes. Venus is the focal planet of this aspect (squaring both Saturn and the North / South Nodes). On its own, Venus square Saturn is far from pleasant. It can have you confronting your own inadequacies. It can magnify self-consciousness and inhibitions, leaving you feeling uncertain about your own self-worth.
This can lead to misunderstandings or an overly sensitive response to an external event — such as a harsh word or criticism that hurts your feelings. This is not the best time to “put yourself out there” as the combination of these two aspects can magnify your own insecurities and leave you reeling with self-doubt.
The square to the Nodes is called “at the bendings” by classical astrologers, and refers to a period of crisis with emphasis on the concept of fate. As Venus represents romance and relationships (among other things, such as money, personal values and beauty / aesthetics) this can translate as problems identifying with these areas.
It can also manifest as feeling backed into a corner in relationship or being forced to choose between love and something (or someone) else. Feeling like it’s time to update your wardrobe, hair, fashion sense or psychical appearance. Being dissatisfied with what you have going in there areas, with the understanding that you need to make changes.
Although Venus is in mutual reception with Mars, they’re also both debilitated by sign. So while a mutual reception tends to bolster the positive attributes of the planets involved, the potential for that in this case is greatly diminished.
Mercury conjuncts Uranus on Wednesday. This transit is great for brainstorming and thinking outside the box. It’s about innovation, progress and change. Radical ideas and flashes of brilliance.
As the higher octave of Mercury, Uranus is also tied to flashes of genius and insight. It’s inventive, progressive and forward thinking. It relates to expressing your own personal opinions (in contrast to Mercury’s penchant for absorbing facts and ideas that have been gathered from other sources).
This transit brings flashes of insight and brilliance to the table. This is a time of tapping into your higher-consciousness. And you may be doing it without even realizing it. You might hear yourself speaking and wonder where did that come from? Or hear something that you’ve heard hundreds of times before and realize that NOW it makes sense.
Venus trines Jupiter and squares Pluto on Thursday, while the Sun sextiles Neptune. The trine to Jupiter is optimistic, enthusiastic and benevolent, and can see you feeling so good about yourself that others respond in kind. Those feelings of goodwill are infectious and can result in opportunities that come to you through unexpected channels.
The Sun / Neptune sextile can increase your sensitivity to outside influences and leave you feeling more susceptible to psychic impressions, but the Venus / Pluto square can rain on your parade, especially if you’ve been dealing with conflict in your relationships.
Venus is debilitated in Aries, and the hard aspect (square) to Pluto can exacerbate tensions.Problems that have been simmering beneath the surface can come to a head and force you to confront your relationship problems head on.
This is not the time to deliver an ultimatum or back someone into a corner. This transit can be volatile and can lead to actions and decisions that can’t be taken back later. Choose your relationship battles wisely during this time — or better yet choose not to do battle at all.
On Saturday, the Sun trines Saturn and the South Node (which means it simultaneously sextiles the North Node). The Sun / Saturn aspect is focused, rational, disciplined and productive, so if you want to get something done now is the time to do it.
The Nodal aspects can bring new people into your life who feel familiar and who can be instrumental to your evolutionary process. These trines are karmic in nature, meaning that the people you meet during this time are here to propel you toward your destiny — and vice versa. Your actions and interactions can have far reaching repercussions so make sure you treat the people you meet during this time (and all times) with dignity and respect.
