Aries: The Sun

TAURUS: The Empress

You should be in your element this month, with 4 planets (including the New Moon) in your sign. Taurus is a feminine earth sign that ties in beautifully with the blessings bestowed on us by the Empress card.

This card is all about getting in touch with your feminine side. This isn’t related to gender — it’s more about the qualities that are traditionally associated with anima-type energies.

GEMINI: Two of Cups

Love may sneak up on you when you least expect it this month, especially with Venus turning retrograde in your sign, and potentially bringing someone back in from your past.

This is the Two of Cups from the original Mythic Tarot. It tells the story of Eros and Psyche at the moment fate intervened and set in motion a powerful and unbreakable love spell.

This card represents more than just attraction, affection and romance. It also speaks of the need for balance and harmony, for give and take, and for meeting others half way. This can take on many forms: from a brand new romance to reconnecting with a lover from the past to a renewed passion in an existing relationship.

Questions to ask yourself this month include whether you’re seeing the person you’ve set your sights on clearly, or if you’re just so in love with “love” that you end up ignoring important signs. This month, with a lineup of planets moving through your 11th house — the area associated with friends and associates, you may find yourself itching to get out there and socialize.

LEO: Knight of Pentacles

Your focus this month, with several planets moving through your work and professional sectors, should shift your focus to areas associated with work, duty, discipline and service.

If you’re thinking about ways to increase your income or conserve the income you already have, it’s a good time to get an early start.

VIRGO: Five of Pentacles

Your card this month is the Five of Pentacles from the beautiful Ostara Tarot. It can indicate a need to rethink what you value, especially when it comes to your own sense of worth or self-esteem.

It can mark a period of financial adversity, such as seeing your earnings held up or seeing your resources dwindling as a result of unexpected expenses.

The Five of Pentacles refers to feeling lost and alone, isolated or excluded, shut out, rejected or unworthy. It doesn’t have to manifest in a big way. It can be as “simple” as being dismissed or overlooked — an insignificant occurrence that can take on a life of its own. It’s a harsh word, a careless remark, a lack of consideration or a call that doesn’t come. Something that makes you feel small, dejected or demoralized.

This is what you want to think about as you look at how these incidents affect you and what you can do to offset their impact on your own sense of self-worth. Take some time today to nourish that tender heart of yours and remind yourself that you’re worthy of being loved and accepted. The challenge with the Five of Pentacles is not to give in to those fears, but to overcome them.

Libra: The Star

This month it’s going to be all about counting your blessings. In recent months you may have been too focused on what you lack — or on what you feel has been missing in your life, But the Star card speaks of putting all that aside and focusing instead on what you do have.

This is a very calm and peaceful version of the Star card. In it — from Robin Ator’s Prairie Tarot — we see a young Native American woman sitting on the banks of a river, replenishing it from the water in her vessel.

She sits with her eyes closed and her feet dangling comfortably in the water. A large white star shines above her to the right, while seven smaller stars, in the colors of the rainbow are lined up on the left.

There are elements of tolerance and acceptance here too. The gentle imagery of the young woman in Native garb coupled with the rainbow stars act as symbolic reminders that the world is full of different kinds of people and all of them belong here. Even the act of pouring water into the stream reminds us of how important it is to “give back.”

With your ruler (Venus) going retrograde this month, you want to revisit some of the plans you’ve made that you didn’t follow through on. The Star card is full of hope and inspiration but it’s not exactly well grounded. There’s a need to work in order to manifest your dreams, as they’re not about to fall into your lap.

Whether you’re making new plans or dusting off the old ones, now is the time to make a commitment to seeing them through. And don’t forget to add a healthy dose of gratitude: in other words, remember to “thank your lucky stars!”

Scorpio: Page of Cups

This month, with your ruler (Mars) moving into your 5th house and the New Moon taking place in your 7th, romance and relationships are likely to take center stage. The 5th and 7th are the two main relationship sectors, and yours are going to be lit up like a Christmas tree this month.

The Page of Cups is all about allowing yourself to be vulnerable and open to new emotional experiences. But as you can see in this version of the card — from the Mary-el Tarot — that can also translate as being self-conscious and shy.

With your relationship ruler turning retrograde this month, you may be feeling sentimental. You may long to reach out to someone from your past or restart a connection that never quite go off the ground.

This Page of Cups is gentle and self-protective. But she sometimes struggles with putting herself out there and expressing her fears. She’ll have to decide how much she’s willing to reveal and how much she prefers to keep to herself.

Although the pale blues in the background of this card are linked to the throat chakra and the concept of expressing ideas, you may be feeling so sensitive and vulnerable that you too have trouble putting your feelings into words.

The Page of Cups may be someone in your life — a young child or someone with childlike qualities, gentleness, sweetness and idealism. Or it may be a set of qualities that you’re being called on to embrace. This card focuses less on romantic love and more on tending to the needs of others. Seeing how love spreads and is responded to in kind.

Sagittarius: The Hierophant

The Hierophant is often portrayed as conventional, but this card is not just about formal education and organized religion. It’s more about carrying the wisdom of the ancients forward. It’s about gaining a greater understanding for yourself and using it to guide others.

The Hierophant is a teacher, a counselor and a mentor as well as a student. He’s a seeker of knowledge and an imparter of wisdom.

You could be immersing yourself in your studies this month or making plans to embark on a spiritual journey. You may also be called upon present your ideas to others — either formally or informally. If you find yourself having to defend your views, do it in a calm, practical manner. The Hierophant is not about being radical or fanatical. It’s about building on the conventions of those who’ve come before you and presenting your ideas with clarity and precision.

CAPRICORN: Ten of Pentacles

This month, with  your career ruler (Venus) in your work sector and Saturn (your ruler) joining Mars in your money sector, you’re likely top be thinking about your future, especially with respect to your security and financial stability.

This card — the Animal’s Divine version of the Ten of Pentacles — is about building your empire, on whatever scale that might be.

It’s about achieving success through hard work and determination, as well as the satisfaction that comes with knowing that it’s all going to pay off in the end. Not just for you but for family and loved ones, as this card is also about creating a legacy that can be built on for generations to come.

The “pentacles” in this version are stars that coalesce into tangible currency as they light the rabbit’s path. The greens and golds that are so prominent here are also significant. These are the colors associated with wealth, prosperity and abundance.

The Ten of Pentacles is about establishing a lasting legacy for yourself and your loved ones. It’s about enjoying and appreciating what you have while planning ahead for the future.

No matter how successful you are there’s always more to be done, especially as it pertains to creating something that will live on long after you’re gone. You may be thinking of starting a family or putting money aside for children you already have.

You could also be in the process of giving birth to something else — a business, a creative endeavor or a body of work. Whatever it is, know that this is something you want to be proud of, so put the extra energy into making sure you do it right.

AQUARIUS: Ace of Swords

Your card this month — the Ace of Swords — this version from the Druid Craft Tarot — is all about gaining the insight that is necessary to make decisions that are best for you.

With both Mars and Saturn now moving through your sign, there’s a lot of focus on independence and individuation. Aquarius is associated with doing your own thing and doing it in a way that no one has ever done before, This combination is rife with electrical energy, bringing with it the certainty and clarity that are intrinsically tied to the Ace of Swords.

It’s also associated with taking back your power. And nothing says that like an arm with a sword in it rising up from the depths of a murky pool.

The Ace of Swords can be victorious or it can be defiant. And there’s no saying which one this one is. But that’s also a part of taking back your power — deciding whether you want to wield your sword for the greater good or use it as a weapon.

This Sword has its own electrical current. Perhaps it’s stopped a bolt of lightning dead in its tracks, or has harnessed its own energy which is just as powerful.

Some things to keep in mind this month: First of all, your actions can have far reaching consequences (notice the ripples in the pond). And secondly, no matter how small or alone you feel in the world, you absolutely do have the capacity to make your presence known.

You do want to be mindful of what you put out there. The Ace of Swords can have a dual meaning just as the blade itself is double edged. You want to be aware of your words as well as your actions and the impact those have one others.

Pisces: Two of Wands

This month you’re going to need to be be mindful of the need to balance your plans and ideas with the actual work that goes into making them manifest.

The Two of Wands — this version from the Faerie Tarot — speaks of taking the spark of an idea (brought about by the Ace of Wands) and turning it into something tangible.

But this doesn’t just happen magically — despite the imagery in this card. We can see the little faerie seated on the edge of a fountain and framed by two blooming wands.

One is clearly smaller than the other and this is the one she’s directed her attention to.

The key here is balance: you won’t be able to make something happen without careful consideration and planning; but all the magic in the world won’t cause your ideas to materialize without putting in the effort.

There’s a certain give and take with the Two of Wands (and will all Twos in the tarot) that is mirrored right back to you.

There’s also a need for discrimination — throwing out the unrealistic or half-baked ideas and focusing on what has a genuine shot at being successful. The Two of Wands requires you to be objective and this is why it’s always wise to bounce your ideas off of another.

If you want to make something happen this month, prove it by participating in its development. The outcome you achieve will be directly proportionate to the energy you put into making it manifest.
