Happy New Year and welcome to 2024! This one will definitely have some interesting twists and turns of course, but it does start out with stability — as four planets transit earth signs — and optimism — with Jupiter in Taurus now in direct motion since New Years Eve.
Mercury, Venus and Mars are all transiting through Jupiter ruled Sagittarius and they transmit the vibration of optimism and adventure as well for the first two weeks of the month.
Then it starts to get more intense as we approach January 19th when the Sun will conjunct Pluto at 29 degrees of Capricorn. Pluto has been grinding back and forth on this degree for the latter half of 2023 and will briefly dip back to it in the fall for its final pass before he moves solidly in the sign of Aquarius for the next 19 years!
The 19th through the end January is volatile because the Sun will first join Pluto at 29 degrees of Capricorn and then stay relatively close to Pluto as it advances into the sign of Aquarius. The United States is also experiencing its Pluto return and all you have to do is read the news to see what turmoil we are going through at this time. Do we keep our democracy or devolve into a failed authoritarian state is Pluto’s dark side showing itself.
Mercury and Mars are also traveling fairly close together in the middle degrees of Capricorn and they can be argumentative and feisty when close to each other. Avoid conflict in your personal lives during this time and find an antidote to your exposure to the worldwide dramas so you don’t lose your center. That is the most important thing to strive for during dramatic times.
Mercury goes into direct motion on January 2 at 22 degrees of Sagittarius, closely following behind Mars’ position of 28 degrees of Sag. Venus is also transiting Sagittarius through January 24th and that can be a fun time if you let it. Sag likes adventures so schedule something fun in the first three weeks before the energy gets jostled with the Sun and Pluto conjunction.
Jupiter turned direct on New Year’s Eve at 5 degrees 34’ of Taurus, a Venus ruled sign that can lend a vibration of joy and optimism as it exchanges signs with Venus in Sag, a Jupiter ruled sign. I like this upbeat vibe for the start of a new year and it indicates lots of unique expansive possibilities as well.
Saturn moves from 3 degrees of Pisces to 6 degrees this month getting close to the degree it retrograded on. Think back to the middle of June and see if there are projects or tasks that got delayed for you then and get crackin’ on finishing them up as Saturn clears that retrograde degree by February 15th.
Uranus is still retrograde in Taurus at 19 degrees and will turn direct on January 27th at 19 degrees, 5’ of Taurus. This change of direction for Uranus will also add to the volatility of that latter part of the January as Uranus can be chaotic or very unique in its changes.
Neptune makes its way forward from 25 degrees 4’ to 25 degrees 44’ and Pluto makes its move into Aquarius on the 21st. A lot of people ask me, “does that mean we are in the Age of Aquarius?” and I don’t really think the answer is definitive just yet.
Ages are very long measures of time (around 2147 years) and depending on which expert you consult, we apparently have more time to pass before that Age of Aquarius designation. It was quite the clever song lyric from the 1960’s musical, Hair, so just go ahead and “let the sunshine in” as the song says regardless of where we are in the passage of time. It did foster greater interest in astrology so I’m a fan.

Aries — March 21-April 19: With Mercury, Venus and your ruler, Mars, all transiting through fellow fire sign Sagittarius, you may be feeling some optimism and a quest for adventure brewing within so take that energy and do something with it! Jupiter and Uranus transiting through your solar 2nd house also has you looking for ways to increase your income stream so put the word out and be ready to say yes to something out of the ordinary. The 16th and 17th offer you a respite from the mundane so schedule some pleasure then.
Taurus — April 20-May 20: Your ruling planet, Venus, is in the Jupiter ruled sign of Sagittarius while Jupiter is in the Venus ruled sign of Taurus in your solar 1st house. This mutual exchange of energies can bring in opportunities if you expand your thinking and start looking outside the box. It’s a positive time to work on money matters, investments and to decrease debt. Venus is also getting a square aspect from Saturn so that means you must be frugal and make your money last and work for you. The lunar vibes on the 18th and 19th favor you.
Gemini — May 21-June 21: With Mercury, your ruler, about to go direct later today and in your 7th house with Mars and Venus there may be several people attracted to you or vying for your attention. It may not be practical right now to start a new relationship with Saturn at the top of your chart pushing you to take on more responsibility in your professional life. Take it all slow and steady as bigger things are on the horizon with the Sun and Pluto entering fellow air sign Aquarius later this month. Use the positive days of the 20th, 21st and AM hours of the 22nd to state your intentions for your future.
Cancer — June 22-July 23: Health, work, income and friendships are all on your mind at the beginning of the new year as you seek to find balance in these areas. Some period of health difficulty is coming to an end if you’ve taken proactive steps in the last 2 months to create a healthier body. This is kind of a culmination year for you as Pluto leaves Capricorn, which is the sign opposite Cancer. It’s been a long slog over the last 15 years and you’ll feel a lot lighter as the year goes on. Watch your cash flow this month but there’s a better situation trying to find you in February. Use the lucky days of the PM hours of the 22nd, the 23rd and 24th to promote yourself.
Leo — July 24-August 23: With 3 planets in a fellow fire sign in your solar 5th house of fun, creativity and passion this month could hold some fun activities or travel if you care to partake of it. The Sun and Pluto will join up and enter Aquarius on the 21st, the sign ruling your solar 7th house. If married, you might find that your spouse is acting odd or you are seeing them in a very different light. There is transformation on the horizon but it’s a long way off. Be ready for many changes in how you deal with others. Take some time for yourself on the full Moon of the 25th, the 26th and the AM hours of the 27th.
Virgo — August 24-September 22: This year will have Saturn in Pisces fully in your solar 7th house of partnership which can mean a deeper commitment to a partnership or some wear and tear showing in the relationship / partnership department as demands start being made and tensions surface. If your home has been particularly busy last month, that period is ending as the 3 planets in your 4th house will soon be just one, bringing back the peace and quiet you crave. Your long term outlook is verypositive with lots of travel coming up this year as well. Use the positive vibes of the 1st, 2nd, PM hours of the 27th, the 28th and 29th to ask for what you want.
Libra — September 23-October 22:This is a great time to connect with your inner thoughts, writings, and communication in any form as three planets move through your 3rd house. At the end of the month the Sun and Pluto move into fellow air sign Aquarius and your creative 5th house, also stimulating a creative communication theme, but one which is less personal and more universal in content. Money is on your mind and will remain a bit illusive this month but that situation is going change in the next few months. Your best days are the 3rd, 4th, 30th and 31st.
Scorpio — October 23-November 22: With Mars at the end of Sagittarius and about to go into Capricorn on January 5th, its exaltation sign, you’ll get a mental and physical boost as he goes into your solar 3rd house which will give you a stronger interest and involvement in the communication arena. Spend some time getting your message out in the world and promote your skills. Pluto and the Sun will enter Aquarius on the 21st, your solar 4th house which will bring greater contact with family, your ancestors, real estate and things beneath the surface. The days of the 5th, 6th and AM hours of the 7th.
Sagittarius — November 23-December 20: With Venus, Mercury and Mars transiting your sign and your 1st house, this can be a very busy and pleasant social time. Your ruling planet, Jupiter, is now in direct motion in the sign of Taurus in your 6th house which means you have to watch your intake of food and drink as Jupiter in Taurus likes to party! Saturn is in your 4th house and will bring some additional contact with your family and ancestors, so stay in touch with them. The lunar vibes on the PM hours of the 7th, the 8th and 9th favor you.
Capricorn — December 21-January 20: With Saturn, your ruling planet, at 3 degrees of Pisces in your third house of communications, this means that you should choose your words wisely as their intention is also involved in the meaning you are putting out there. The Sun and Pluto join up on the 19th and then enter Aquarius on the 21st, in your second house of money and assets. There will be a slow and steady transformation of how you generate income over the next 15 years. Let it evolve. The 10th and 11th are your lucky days.
Aquarius — January 21-February 19: With the Sun and Pluto entering your sign on the 21st, you will host the transit of Pluto over the next 15 years! It will cause major transformation in the areas of technology, science, electricity, progressive causes and altruistic endeavors, to name just a few things associated with this masculine, fixed air sign. Change is coming your way so open up to new ideas and actions. The days of the 12th and 13th are your stellar days
Pisces — February 20-March 20: With Jupiter in Taurus now direct and in your solar third house of communication, there may be many busy activities in your neighborhood or with siblings. This along with three planets moving through your 10th house could give your career a boost, or offer some work that involves travel. Saturn is firmly placed in your first house which make you plainly aware of the aging process. Saturn here can also give one a limp so watch your step! The positive vibes of the 14th and 15th can bring you joy.
