March 2025 monthly horoscopes

Mars is now in direct motion and picking up speed throughout the month, as it covers the degrees it retrograded over through May 2nd. I feel the need to issue a few heads-up warnings on some planetary pressures coming up this month, as there are quite a few.

To quote William Shakespeare, “beware the Ides of March” which comes from his play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. In the play, a soothsayer warns Julius Caesar that he should be on his guard on March 15, the Ides of March.

We have two eclipses this month and the first one occurs on March 14th, pretty close to the “Ides”. So, here’s the scoop I will say about what’s coming up. This month will have some twists and turns involved like you’ve never experienced before.

Most of the planets are in the same 1/3rd of the sky, so that is part of the intensity, a hyper focus of planetary energies in those signs between Aquarius and Cancer.

The first eclipse is a full Moon lunar eclipse happening on either late March 13th or after midnight on March 14th, depending on your time zone. The Moon will be at 23 degrees 57’ of Virgo, a practical earth sign related to health, cleanliness, duty and fact-finding and perfection. The Sun will be opposite the Moon at 23 degrees 57’ of Pisces, which is about endings, the subconscious mind, compassion, intuition, and sacrifice to name a few areas associated with that sign.

The feminine Moon represents the public, our emotions, our habits, instincts and intuition. Since the Moon will be close to the south Node, there may be some karmic implications around this eclipse as it will also be opposite Saturn, the Sun, the north Node and Neptune all in the later degrees of Pisces.

While planets in Pisces can represent confusion, Saturn in Pisces says there must be order maintained throughout the confusion or obfuscation. Don’t make any major decisions at this month if you can help it and let the next eclipse occur on March 29th as there will be a lot of things coming to light that will affect your reactions and direction. In fact, I would wait until after April 12th, when both Mercury and Venus will be in direct motion to finalize any plans or projects. Yes, we have a Venus and a Mercury retrograde to look forward to this month as well!

Venus retrogrades on March 2 through April 12, moving from 10 degrees 50’ of Aries back to 24 degrees of Pisces and becomes the morning star, visible in the east at the end of March and early April. Venus retrograde can often indicate financial volatility and it is recommended that one not buy expensive luxury items, have cosmetic procedures or get married during the Rx time. Then Mercury goes into his retrograde motion period on March 15th, the day after the eclipse, moving from 9 degrees 35’ of Aries back to 26 degrees of Aries, on April 7th closely echoing Venus’ backward passage from Aries to Pisces. These two planets are friends but Venus suffers a bit in Mar’s sign of Aries and can be quite changeable and testy there. She is exalted in Pisces so it ends better than it begins.

The Sun will also be conjunct Saturn on March 12th, prior to the first eclipse so that gives the “ides” an additional karmic/right action kind of vibe to the period as well. But the Sun gets hemmed in between Saturn and the north node at the eclipse and is not able to function well. The Sun represents the government, the king, those people with power and the military. That aspect adds to the volatility of the middle of the month time period.

Saturn also travels very close to the north Node through May 17th before they go their separate ways. Any planet close to the north Node can be unruly, violent or manifest karmic events that can be extreme or negative. Saturn does govern right action but it can also used as a negative energy to suppress dissent. The key is to use it for its correct purpose, to learn the lesson associated with the events of the time. Saturn moves from 20 degrees 46’ of Pisces to 24 degrees 26’ throughout the month. People with planets or angles in the mutable signs of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius around those degrees will really feel its pressure.

Jupiter moves from 12 degrees 19’ of Gemini to 15 degrees 54’ of Gemini throughout the month. It squares the Sun on March 2nd, which can bring excesses, extremes or extravagance into lives.

Uranus moves from 23 degrees 39’ of Taurus to 24 degrees 44’ of Taurus during the month. It is moving closer to the fixed star of Algol, which is considered the most malefic star in the sky, representing the severed head of Medusa. This placement is also said to harm eyesight. We’ll see what happens, as this will be its third pass over Algol at the end of April and into early May, 2025. The first time occurred in the middle of July, the second time was around the election in November and now the third time will culminate the Uranus cycle. It should be interesting but very volatile as Uranus is in the money sign of Taurus so reserve some cash and eliminate risk in your portfolios.

Neptune moves from 28 degrees 55’ of Pisces to 0 degree 2’ of Aries by the end of the month. This may take a while to feel, but it is a big shift from the watery energy since the spring of 2011 to the active fire of Aries.

Pluto moves from 2 degrees 54’ of Aquarius to 3 degrees 33’ throughout the month. I am not sure what to say about this as it just feels kind of oppressive and too techy to me instead of the humanitarian vibe Aquarius is “supposed” to have. It will be in this sign for another 19 years so it will have time to evolve.

The end of the month holds the final eclipse of this spring season on March 29th with the Moon and Sun at 9 degrees of Aries, and Saturn, the north Node, Venus retrograde, Neptune in Pisces and Mercury retrograde slipping back into Pisces after sunset. There will be echoes from the energy of the 3/14 eclipse as so many degrees are hit again. But the Sun and Moon are actively in Aries, wanting something new and taking action to get it. We are in for some interesting times as these energies want to awaken us and shake out the cobwebs of passivity, submission and victimhood that can sometimes be associated with Pisces energy. I think of this Solar eclipse time as a “hell no, we won’t go” chant vibe from the 60’s protests about the Vietnam war.

Cancer — June 22-July 23: This eclipse cycle pulls in your 9th house visions for higher purpose, esoteric studies, beliefs and purpose with your 10th house of public image and career. The first Lunar eclipse on the 14th happens in the 3rd house of communication, intelligence and desires and the 3/9 house axis. The second Solar eclipse on the 29th happens in the 10th house. This cycle will help you align your beliefs and philosophy with your career, how you do it and who you do it with. There’s nothing like eclipse action at the top of one’s chart to propel one forward. Your special days are the 7th, 8th and the 9th until right before sunset.

Leo — July 24-August 23: With the Lunar eclipse occurring on the 14th in your solar 2nd house of money, values, and wealth and the 2/8 house axis. You have some very real financial issues to deal with this month. The partial Solar eclipse occurs in your 9th house of beliefs, philosophy, higher knowledge, travel and teachers. Maybe you need to pass on your expertise to others at this time in life. Wisdom is always needed in the world, it’s just that some people don’t want to open their minds. In any event, this is a time to be cautious financially and be present to the ever-changing timelines of life. Stellar days for you are the 10th and 11th.

Virgo —  August 24-September 22:  With Mercury going retrograde in the middle of the month, details and drama might increase. Stay centered and know that many things are undergoing a revision at this time with the eclipses. The Lunar eclipse on the 14th occurs in your solar 1st house and 1/7 house axis. This is about you and how you maintain your personal center in terms of relationships. The Solar eclipse on the 19th happens in your 8th house of psychology, fears, end of life matters, wills and inheritance. It’s time to think about how to make sure your last check bounces! Just kidding…kind of. Use the positive vibes of the 12th, 13th and Lunar eclipse on the 14th to do some soul searching about that.

Libra — September 23-October 22: Your ruling planet, Venus, goes retrograde on the 2nd through April 12th so you may find your personal aesthetic is in flux. Just sit with it as when Venus goes direct it may evolve yet again. Relationships and communication are focused areas this month as well, so be as clear as you can be and go into depth as to not be misunderstood. The first Lunar eclipse on the 14th happens in your 12th house and the 12/6 house axis of solitude, karma, health, habits and service. Take some time daily to focus on your own needs and do some soul searching about your inner desires. The Solar eclipse on the 29th happens in your 7th house of partnership, so there will be an ongoing focus on that throughout the next 6-12 months. Your stellar days are the 15th and 16th, very much the Ides of March.

Scorpio — October 23-November 22: With Mars now in direct motion, you may feel more focus and direction as Mars slowly moves forward. This is a real positive after the last 3-4 months of stalled energy. The Lunar eclipse on the 14th happens in your solar 11th house of society, causes, wishes and business connections and on the 11/5 house axis, which also includes how you have fun, your creativity and your natural intelligence. These may all be changing in the very near future; be ready to pivot to new horizons. The Solar eclipse on the 29th happens in your solar 6th house of health, habits, pets, routines and service. So, take care of your body if anything seems out of balance, it’s part of having a happy life. The positive vibes of the 17th, 18th and AM hours of the 19th favor you.

Sagittarius — November 23-December 20: Your ruling planet, Jupiter, is coasting forward in the sign of Gemini, and may have you bouncing off the walls with a bad case of TMI. Jupiter, who also rules Pisces, has all the planets and eclipses inhabiting that sign, so you have quite a bit of action going on and that is why it is so confusing. Do your best to stay centered and not chase every bit of info flying by. Truth and common sense are your friends. The Lunar eclipse on the 14th happens in your solar 10th house of career and public image and the 10/4 house axis, the balance between home and professional life. The Solar eclipse on the 29th happens in your 5th house of fun, creativity, passion and natural intelligence. I think that gives you permission to have some fun in the near future or pursue an attraction to someone. The lunar vibes in the PM hours of the 19th, the 20th and the 21st are very favorable for you.

Capricorn — December 21-January 20:  With Saturn, your ruling planet having a major influence in both the eclipses this month, you may find things pivot in an interesting way in the months ahead. Strive for right action in your daily life. The Lunar eclipse on the 14th happens in your 9th house of beliefs, purpose, higher philosophies and teachers and the 9/3 house axis of siblings, education and neighbors. Things may develop quickly in those areas of life. The Solar eclipse on the 29th happens in your 4th of home, family, ancestors and real estate, so you may experience changes or more responsibilities over the next year. Your power days are the 22nd and 23rd.

Aquarius — January 21-February 19: Saturn, your ruling planet, is very much involved with both of these eclipses but more so in the Lunar eclipse on the 14th. This happens in your solar 8th house of endings, wills, inheritances, fears, insecurities and loss of control and your 8/2 house axis. This is about your wealth and what you want to do with it along the way and at the end of the matter. Stay on top of this and do some planning. The Solar eclipse on the 29th happens in your 3rd house of siblings, neighborhood and your skills, interests and intelligence. You may find that you can develop new interests and skills in the coming year, as eclipses tend to change things internally and externally. The lunar vibes on the 24th 25th and AM hours of the 26th favor your sign.

Pisces — February 20-March 20: With the plethora of planets in Pisces this month, you might be feeling a bit overwhelmed with choices. It is going to cause confusion, so delay any major decisions until mid-April when most of the drama passes. The Lunar eclipse on the 14th happens in your solar 7th house of partnership and the 7/1 house axis. This will be a major focus for you in the coming months, do you act alone or as a couple? The Solar eclipse on the 29th happens in your solar 2nd house of wealth, so do start thinking about long-term planning, but avoid risk in the near term and maybe even in the long-term depending on how close you are to retirement. Don’t spread yourself too thin or be too self-sacrificing as good boundaries are important for sound mental health. The PM hours of the 26th, the 27th and 28th are your stellar days.
