Free Daily Tarotscope — May 23, 2015 — Five of Daisies

Five of Daisies

Five of Daisies

Today’s Sun / Saturn opposition may have you thinking about what’s missing in your life and what feels unattainable to you or seems just out of reach.

The Five of Daisies is the Rabbit Tarot’s version of the Five of Pentacles. And here we see a little rabbit poking his head out from behind a massive tree. He reaches one tentative paw into the water where five daisies are floating on the surface.

The Five of Pentacles is associated with a sense of helplessness against insurmountable odds. As Pentacles related to money (and values in general) and Fives related to crises, this card speaks of obstacles that spring from our own feelings of doubt and dread.

It wouldn’t be hard for the rabbit to reach out and latch onto one or two of those daisies. He’s already made a reluctant move. But his hesitation may end up costing him the lot.

There’s a lot of fear associated with this card. Fear of making a mistake or not being good enough. Fear of falling in. Fear of taking a leap of faith only to have the thing you want so desperately swept away before you get a chance to attain it.

Your challenge today is to move past those fears and recapture your your own self worth. Move past the feelings of shame, embarrassment and uncertainty and allow yourself to reach out for help. Take some time to remind yourself that you’re worthy of being loved and accepted. The challenge with the Five of Pentacles — as with the Sun / Saturn opposition — is not to give in to those fears, but to overcome them.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 22, 2015 — Death

Death

Death

Today — as Venus and Pluto oppose one another — you may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice, in the form of giving something up that you’ve been clinging to for far too long.

It may be a relationship, a job, a dream, or even an out-dated belief system that is no longer conducive to your growth. Whatever it is, it’s going to feel like a loss, and may bring with it a period of mourning.

The Death card can be frightening, as it promises both loss and change — two of the scariest notions that any of us are ever faced with. But the Venus / Pluto opposition says that what must be “put to death” becomes so clear to you that you realize you have no other choice.

In this respect, it’s more about leaving behind something that probably wasn’t working for you anyway and moving toward something that you’re naturally more aligned with.

In this version of the card — from Nicoletta Ceccoli’s beautiful Ceccoli Tarot — we see snowflakes fluttering down on the fairytale princess Aurora’s eternal sleep. She’s surrounded by the Seven Dwarfs, who are solemnly paying their last respects. The poisoned apple that caused her demise lays nearby.

But if you remember this story, there is a happy ending. Death brings rebirth and a revival. Aurora finds her Prince Charming and ultimately lives happily ever after.

Sometimes the Universe shows us just what we don’t need by removing it from us forcefully from our grip. In this sense the “death” can be a painful undertaking. But if you choose instead to cooperate, it can be an incredibly liberating experience.

You may have to accept that the very thing you so desperately cling to is the one that’s holding you back. We can say that this ending is pregnant with opportunity: you do have to attend to the business of putting something to rest, but remember that when one door closes another one opens.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 21, 2015 — Ace of Swords

Ace of Swords

Ace of Swords

Today’s card — Ace of Swords — is all about achieving the kind of clarity that’s necessary to focus your intentions and accomplish your goals.

The Ace of Swords can act as a tool for manifesting. It is raw, pure, unharnessed energy that can be channeled into something both powerful and magical.

It can act as a lightning rod for either positive or negative energy, depending on how it’s used. It refers to getting to the heart of the matter, cutting through the BS, speaking your mind and honoring your truth.

But the Ace of Swords can also be somewhat aggressive and argumentative. When used negatively it really does “cut like a knife” with respect to cruelty or hurtful words. For this reason it’s sometimes best to put some distance between yourself and whatever outside influences are triggering reactions.

As the Sun moves into Gemini today, you may find yourself dealing with competing urges. You may be torn between different options or feel pulled in different directions. But the Ace of Swords is able to cut through the noise and distractions and can make it easier for you to clear the air enough to make an informed decision.

The woman in this card — from Anna Klaffinger’s gorgeous Anna K. Tarot — has gotten both altitude and distance as she stands on a ledge looking out over the landscape below. She’s got a panoramic view of what lies ahead by standing back and assessing it from afar.

Think about what’s been weighing on your mind that needs to be decided once and for all. And what discussion needs to be had in order to iron out any differences. The Ace of Swords encourages you to speak truthfully, but to do so from the heart.  Be considerate of the feelings of others: remember that words can be both helpful and hurtful, so use yours wisely today.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 20, 2015 — Page of Pentacles

Page of Pentacles - - Deviant Moon

Page of Pentacles

You may have a lot on your plate today as you work to put the finishing touches on half-finished projects. While you may be feeling overwhelmed with the amount of work before you, if anyone’s up to the task, it’s you.

The Page of Pentacles — this version from the Deviant Moon Tarot — refers to a self-made individual; one who’s busy working on himself and who’s capable of making something out of nothing (or building a better mouse-trap).

This Page is focused on craftsmanship. This isn’t just about “work” for him — it’s about honing his skills and putting his own unique stamp on everything he does. He’s as much a work in progress as the Pentacle he holds in his hand.

He may be young and inexperienced, but he’s not afraid to roll up his sleeves and get to work. Notice the nuts and bolts scattered on the ground around him. And notice the factories in the background lighting up the night sky. These are both reminders that the work never ends and that there’s always more to be done.

This card encourages you to throw yourself into something that inspires you — whether that’s on the job or in other areas of your life.

It encourages you to think about ways you can improve: such as going back to school or learning a new trade. But you could also be applying your expertise to areas outside of your profession. Projects around the home, with loved ones or family members, or establishing a partnership with someone are all possibilities.

The Page of Pentacles may be someone in your life, someone youthful and inexperienced but focused on making his (or her) mark on the world. It can also represent an attitude that would be beneficial for you to adopt.

No matter where you are in your journey there’s always something new to learn and some new way to improve on your skills. Like the Pentacle in this card, you are a work in progress. Whether the Page holding it is you or someone in your life, know that he”s here to remind you to never stop growing, learning or evolving.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 19, 2015 — The Hermit

Hermit

The Hermit

As Mercury turns retrograde today in Gemini — the sign it is most at home in and where it will remain for the next seven weeks — you may be thinking about changing things up a bit and looking at things from a different perspective.

The Hermit card is about generally about turning inward and seeking wisdom from within. But who is to say that needs to be boring? Mercury in Gemini is a lot of fun — even when retrograde.

There are also elements of unpredictability with Mercury retrograde and no where is that more evident than in this version of the Hermit card — from beautiful Maddonni Tarot.

At first glance he looks like a rather rotund character with a puny head. But on closer inspection, you can see that his average-sized body has been dwarfed by his billowing robes, which have inflated and lifted him up.

As colorful and vibrant as the Hermit is in this card, you can see that there are no outside distractions. In fact there are no outside anything, as he’s apparently risen above his earthly concerns and is floating in the ethers.

The Hermit card is not about avoidance and isolation. It’s about finding your inner light and choosing to follow it. This is especially important when Mercury is retrograde and you’re dealing with the unexpected.

This card encourages you to embrace solitude through whatever means you find necessary. It challenges you to rise above your mundane concerns and get a better understanding of yourself through searching for deeper meaning.

Be careful that you don’t spend so much time in your head that you miss out on opportunities that present themselves. They may seem random in the moment but reveal themselves later to be much more important than you’d realized. You also want to be conscious of your own motivations: the downside of this card is the urge to hide things, close yourself off from others and avoid those who matter to you most.

Today you get to choose whether you’re lighting your own way or acting as a guidepost for those who have wandered away from theirs. Both are valid endeavors ,and only you will know which is the right path for you. As the Hermit card also refers to turning inward, there is an entire spectrum of information — from the depths of the psyche to the heights of conscious awareness that can be accessed through this process.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 18, 2015 — Ace of Pentacles

Ace of Pentacles

Ace of Pentacles

Today’s New Moon in Taurus marks the beginning of a new financial cycle. As Taurus rules the 2nd (money) house and is associated with stability and security, it’s a good time to start saving money and planning for your future.

The good news is that the Ace of Pentacles means money is coming in. It may me small amounts of money, but those can be pooled together, invested or put to good use and grow over time.

The Ace of Pentacles represents the start of something new, in this case new financial opportunities. It’ speaks of manifesting your goals through hard work, dedication and perseverance.

You may be in line for a raise or promotion, or you could learn of job opportunity that involves a bigger salary. You could also be the benefactor of someone else’s generosity. Either way, you should have more opportunities and more financial resources at your disposal than you’ve had in recent days.

You may also feel that your luck is changing. As the Ace of Pentacles is associated with a positive change in fortune. It’s telling you to keep up the good work, to go after your dreams, and to be open to all that the Universe has to offer you.

The Sunflowers in this version of the card — from Nathalie Hertz’s gorgeous Fantastical Tarot — represent abundance, longevity, fertility and fortune. The Dragon represents strength, power and luck.

The Ace of Pentacles says money is coming your way today so be ready to make the most of it. You may not see a windfall, but it’s still a positive affirmation that you’re putting your energy into the right areas.

With that in mind, it also serves to remind you of the importance of staying grounded and focused while you put your plans in motion. You can be confident in the knowledge that fortune is smiling upon you with today, and while that doesn’t mean you should be foolish with your money, you should have more of it than usual to work with.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 17, 2015 — Queen of Pentacles

Queen of Pentacles

Queen of Pentacles

You want to be thinking today about what you truly value — which may or may not relate to money and material possessions.

The Queen of Pentacles is often associated with money. She represents a strong, practical and efficient individual who is grounded in the material world and who understands the value of a dollar.

But the Queen of Pentacles isn’t always tied to money. And in this version of the card — from the Secret Language of Birds Tarot — she’s portrayed as 60’s sex-kitten Brigitte Bardot, who gave up a career in Hollywood (and the financial security that came with it) in exchange for something that mattered more to her.

For the past forty-plus years she’s devoted her life to animal rights endeavors, funding her activism by selling off her own clothing and jewelry. This is such a good example of the Queen of Pentacles energy, as it illustrates to concept of putting resources (valuables) to work and gaining something far more valuable in the end.

This Queen of Pentacles is usually tied to both Venus and Earth signs — or more specifically Venus-ruled Taurus. But Venus also rules Libra which is Brigitte Bardot’s Sun sign as well as the constellation on this card.

The Sun face on the medallion that hangs from her neck and the stars imprinted on her shirt remind us that we all have a place in the Universe. The wren totems on the card are tied to resourcefulness and efficiency, which are also features of this archetype.

The Queen of Pentacles needs to be grounded. And she needs to feel that she’s contributing to her future and her financial security. But she also knows that there is so much more to life than wealth and success. You can work and earn and save to your heart’s content, but unless you can find a meaningful outlet for it, you’ll never be fulfilled.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 16, 2015 — The Lovers

The Lovers

Today’s Venus / Neptune trine brings thoughts of love and romance to the forefront. It doesn’t matter if you’re single, dating, married, separated, divorced, or a combination of any of the above, this aspect says you’re going to be thinking about relationships today.

The Lover’s card is about “love.” But it’s not always an easy or definitive love. Sometimes there are feelings of ambivalence or uncertainty, and sometimes there are choices to be made that can complicate things even more.

You may be wondering where you stand in a relationship or whether someone you care about feels the same. You may be ready to fall head over heels in love again and are hoping for someone new to come along.

This doesn’t mean today will be without challenges. You’ll have to figure out ways to make your own unique relationship paradigm satisfying for you. When things are in sync in our relationships, everything else just seems to falls into place. And when they’re not, it’s hard to think about anything else.

The figures in this version of the card — Cupid and Psyche, from the gorgeous Tarot of Delphi — overcame their own set of challenges in order to be together. Theirs is a story of love, but also loss, separation, betrayal of trust, and ultimately triumph.

You may be confronted with similar issues today. You may need to ask important questions — if only of yourself. And you may most importantly need to look at your current relationship status and determine whether it’s meeting your needs.

The good news is that you too can triumph — just like Cupid and Psyche. How you handle the challenges thrown your way will determine the outcome, so be mindful of your actions as well the decisions you make today.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 15, 2015 — Ten of Wands

Ten of Wands

Ten of Wands

You may feel like life is a bit of a struggle today, or that all of your efforts are being met with resistance.

As Mars opposes Saturn and Venus squares the Nodes, you may be feeling overwhelmed with the amount of work laid out before you, especially if you’re trying to accomplish more than is humanly possible (and let’s face it, you probably are).

The Mars / Saturn opposition is the classic “running into a brick wall” aspect, which can can be incredibly frustrating, as the part of you that wants to make things happen (Mars) keeps getting thwarted by external events (Saturn).

This can be a person, such as a boss, partner, or authority figure, or if can be an event, such as an impossible deadline or unexpected delay.  The Venus / Node aspect says you may feel shut out or alone, or that the support youre looking from from others just isn’t there.

This version of the Ten of Wands, from the gorgeous Gypsy Palace Tarot, takes a light-hearted look at this scenario. As the man tries to make his way up the incline before him, his efforts are undermined by a tree frog’s subversive acts.

Everything about this card says “hard work” and “frustration.” The incline is rocky and treacherous. The man’s robes are cumbersome and stiff. And his arms are held down — or at least hidden from view — so much so that he’s not even able to swat the flies away that are buzzing around his head.

You may be overwhelmed with all that’s laid out before you today. And you may be wondering whether you even have it in you to keep on plodding ahead. But as you can see from this card there’s no turning back.

This is the Ten of Wands dilemma: You can’t exactly throw in the towel and say “I’m done.” There are obligations and responsibilities to uphold as well as people who depend on you who’d likely be hurt by your neglect. The question you might want to ask yourself today is this: “Is life (or love) supposed to be this hard?” The value of whatever it is that’s taxed you to your limits probably needs to be reassessed.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 14, 2015 — Nine of Pentacles

Nine of Pentacles

This is a good day to count your blessings and to express gratitude for all of the wonderful things you’ve accomplished in your life.

The Nine of Pentacles speaks of shifting your attitude to one of gratitude. It speaks of  attracting abundance and prosperity — not just with respect to money and material possessions, but also to your own sense of self-worth.

It’s about being grateful for all you’ve acquired and recognizing that you deserve it. It’s about developing a prosperity consciousness, knowing that the Universe offers up unlimited abundance to those who do.

The Nine of Pentacles — this version from Sarah B. Seiter’s contribution to the beautiful 78 Tarot — represents that intricate and fulfilling balance between expressing gratitude and achieving prosperity.

The woman in this card looks like she may be struggling to maintain balance. She holds the strings to Nine Pentacles — five hanging from one hand and four from the other. And these are not just any old pentacles, they’re glowing disks with butterflies and pentagrams etched into them.

She may be dealing with conflicting priorities or she may have a hard time maintaining the equilibrium in her life.

This is a key feature with the Nine of Pentacles. Balancing out the give and take in your life while still maintaining your priorities. Remember that whatever you put out there — whether it’s time, energy, money or yourself — as well as whatever you’re open to receiving, will all balance out and be replenished over time.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 13, 2015 — Nine of Cups

Nine of Cups

Nine of Cups

Take a moment to look around you today and see how many of your dreams and wishes have come true.

The Nine of Cups is a card of happiness and fulfillment. It speaks of being more than just satisfied with your lot in life, but also feeling truly blessed and grateful with where you are.

Look at the woman in this card — from the fabulous World Spirit Tarot. She’s dressed to the “nines” in a rainbow of vibrant colors, standing before an array of eight distinctive goblets. She raises the ninth and shares its contents with a blackbird perched on its rim.

Blackbirds as animal totems are harbingers of good fortune. They also represent mystery, magic and esoteric knowledge.

The Nine of Cups is known as the Wish card; in this sense it’s about manifesting your heart’s desires. Nothing is taken for granted and nothing is left to chance. It’s about aligning yourself with the universal laws of attraction and getting what you deserve.

Along with being the “Wish” card, it’s also a card of Miracles. As there’s so much more focus on what one has than what one lacks, it’s easier to notice small miracles and in even the smallest things.

Be careful though that you don’t become too complacent: one of the potential pitfalls with this card is getting exactly what you asked for and then discovering it wasn’t what you wanted in the first place. Because of this you want to be very mindful of what you “put out there” today.

Take some time to think about what you really want — and don’t forget to be grateful for what you already have. There’s an intricate balance between gratitude and personal fulfillment, so make sure you’re putting enough energy and effort into both.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 12, 2015 — Knight of Swords

Knight of Swords

Knight of Swords

As Mars moves into Gemini today, you may find yourself needing to think and act more quickly than usual. Gemini is the most restless of all the dual (mutable) signs and with the planet that rules action and energy (Mars) stepping in, you’ll want to be on your toes and prepared to act with lightning speed.

This version of the Knight of Swords — from the wonderful Mythic Tarot — has two Knights not one. These are Castor and Pollux (the Dioscuri) — known to us as the twin stars in the astronomical constellation Gemini.

The Dioscuri were warrior twins — one mortal and one divine. They spent their days alternating between heaven and earth after Pollux was killed and Castor was stricken with grief.

This is the volatile, unpredictable energy that Mars in Gemini is so well suited for. It requires us to be flexible and adaptable; in fact it embraces constant change.

The Knights in this card appear to be very much in sync. But you can see that there are storm clouds on the horizon. The true test of their allegiance will come when those clouds produce results and threaten to disrupt their world.

This is what you want to be thinking about today when life throws you curveballs. Are you prepared to act quickly and decisively when things don’t go as planned? Or will one minor change in your schedule upset everything and throw you off kilter?

The Knight of Swords encourages you to not only roll with the punches but be open to unanticipated disruptions in your carefully constructed life. These may not only become blessings in disguise, but can also steer you away from pitfalls you might otherwise have not foreseen.
