Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 30, 2015 — King of Swords

King of Swords

King of Swords

As the Sun and Mercury come together today in Libra, you may find yourself needing to bring forth your problem solving skills.

Like the King of Swords in this card — from the Anna K. Tarot — you may need to stay one step ahead of the game as you plan your next move.

The King of Swords is intelligent, strategic and analytical. He’s inherently impartial. He doesn’t mince words, and he doesn’t listen to excuses. He makes his decisions based on logic and reason rather than compassion and empathy.

He’s a no-nonsense individual who is expected to mete out justice with a fair and authoritative hand. He may be a parent, a supervisor, a judge, or even a friend that steps in to give you a reality check when you need one most.

As with all court cards this can also refer to you — or to a state of mind that you need to develop in order to preserve a sense of order in your life. You may have felt taken advantage of by someone who’s overstepped their bounds and this card encourages you to resolve that problem by taking a more authoritative stance.

The King of Swords encourages you to be decisive and to start thinking ahead. It asks you to clear away the debris and work on attaining better focus. And it challenges you to step away from emotional attachments and make your decisions based on what is right, fair, and most importantly best for you in the long run.

Free Daily Tarotscope –Sept 29, 2015 — Queen of Wands

Queen of Wands

Queen of Wands

If you’ve been hiding in the shadows or downplaying some of the more expressive or dramatic aspects of your personality in recent days, now is the time to step up and be seen.

The Queen of Wands is not someone who goes unnoticed. Especially this Queen of Wands — from the gorgeous Love and Mystery Tarot. She’s bold, creative and colorful, with a keen sense of fashion and a flair for drama.

She may be someone in your life, an event or a part of yourself. She may be a supervisor, a parent, a friend or even some facet of yourself that has long been dormant. She has a lot of fiery Goddess energy and can teach you a thing or two about leading with your heart.

She embodies the feminine or yin aspects of Fire (wands) energy: warmth, enthusiasm, energy and drive. She’s regal and majestic; dynamic and refined; confident and authoritative.

She’s creative, expressive and passionate. She possesses strong leadership qualities and elicits respect from others. She’s also very worldly and knowledgeable.

If she’s someone in your life, know that she’s here to introduce you to the qualities she represents.

If however this card refers to you, see it as a reminder that you do possess these qualities and may need to re-incorporate them into your personality. You may be called upon to act in a leadership role or to channel your creative energy into a project of your own.

The Queen of Wands represents feminine strength and power. She’s bold, confident and courageous, and knows how to make things happen in a big way. The presence of this card today encourages you to recapture the essence of the Queen of Wands and to put her to good use.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 28, 2015 — The Eclipse

Eclipse

The Eclipse

Today’s card honors the total lunar eclipse that takes place on the evening of September 27th into the morning of the 28th. This is a Full Moon at 4° Aries 40′ that will peak at 10:50pm ET on the 27th (2:50am UT on the 28th).

The Eclipse card is the Whispering Tarot’s version of the Moon card, which from an astrological perspective is tied to feelings, emotions, intuition and primal instincts, as well as the unconscious mind. It relates to security issues and needs which can translate to insecurity, uncertainty, fears and apprehensions. And these are all emphasized in the Tarot’s version of the Moon.

It can manifest as confusion, uncertainty or paranoia, especially when we try to analyze it logically, which is foreign to the Moon. Just as we can’t fully appreciate the beauty of the Moon in the light of day (consciousness), we struggle to grasp its archetypal meaning through the lens of reason.

The Eclipse card takes this a step further by bringing in some of the symbology associated with the dark side of the Moon. It can refer to anxiety and confusion, based on instincts that you can’t make rational sense of.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 27, 2015 — Queen of Pentacles

Queen of Pentacles

 Queen of Pentacles

Have you been thinking of ways to establish more security for yourself and your loved ones? Not just financial security, but security in other areas of your life as well?

The Queen of Pentacles — this version from the Connolly Tarot — represents stability and durability. She appreciates the finer things in life and is not afraid to work for them. But she also wants to see returns on her investments, whether those investments are material, physical or emotional.

She’s is practical and efficient. She also tends to move a little more slowly and cautiously. For two reasons. One: she knows from experience that practical choices are more likely to pay off than get rich schemes in the end. And two: she wants to savor the life she’s built rather than scramble to earn her next buck without taking the time to appreciate what she’s gained.

The Queen of Pentacles likes to stay grounded. And she needs to feel that she’s contributing to her future and her financial security. But she knows that there is so much more to life than wealth and success. She knows you can work and earn and save to your heart’s content, but unless you can find a meaningful outlet for it, you’ll never be fulfilled.

She may appear calm and gentle, but she’s not a pushover. She stands firm in her convictions and does what it takes to achieve her goals. As a solid practical business woman, she weighs all of her options before she makes a move. At the same time she is sensuous, loving and supportive. She’s a devoted friend and ally.

She may be a person in your life, and if so you will know her by her calm, practical and efficient demeanor. But she may also represent qualities that you need to incorporate into your own personality. Qualities like wisdom, reliability, consistency and inner-strength. Comfort. Courtesy. Common sense. Warmth, generosity and compassion.

Take some time right now to think about “business;” as in how you deal with security and what steps you’ve made toward planning for your future. It may require you to make some short-term sacrifices. But what you gain in return — through hard work, discipline and perseverance — will make it all worthwhile in the end.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 26, 2015 — Eight of Cups

Eight of Cups

Eight of Cups

Today may see you needing to take a serious look at what (and whom) in your life you need to put behind you. You may find yourself having to make a difficult decision to let go of a situation that has not been healthy or rewarding for you.

The Eight of Cups refers to the realization that you’ve put more into something — invested more of your time, energy, heart, etc. — than you’ve gotten back, and now it’s time to face that reality and walk away.

This may be associated with feelings of disappointment and disillusionment, brought about by the realization that what you’ve worked so hard for is not going to turn out the way you’d hoped.

The Eight of Cups — this version from the beautiful self-published Animism Tarot — speaks of walking away or leaving something (or someone) behind that you’ve given your all to, and resigning yourself to the understanding that it was just not meant to be.

This should be a period of cleaning out closets, weeding unhealthy relationships from your life and letting go of fears. It can be cathartic in the sense that it forces you to look at what’s no longer working for you and to do something about it.

While you may be facing some painful realities today, the Eight of Cups reminds us that no one is immune to the twists and turns that are a part of life’s natural rhythm. And while you may not have much say in the direction the current takes you, where you end up is almost entirely in your hands.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 25, 2015 — Transformation

Transformation

Transformation

As Pluto turns direct today (after five long months in retrograde motion), you may be thinking about closing the door on one chapter in your life and opening another.

The Transformation card is the Vision Quest Tarot’s version of the traditional tarot’s Death card.

It speaks of putting certain things to rest — whether that be a relationship that you’ve been holding onto for far too long, a belief system that no longer serves you, or material possessions that you’ve accumulated but no longer have any use for.

The Death card is scary for some. Because it represents having something we’ve grown accustomed to taken away. But this card focuses on the transformative effects of “Death” in that all that you release will not only be replenished, but will get you one step closer to your own evolutionary potential.

It reminds us that energy never dies and that nothing we’ve lost is ever really gone. It’s simply transformed and renewed, like the spirit of the owl overseeing the remnants of a tribal monument on this card. The animal’s carcass may be old and weathered, but the Moon in the sky is new, reminding us that endings always lead to new beginnings.

Sometimes the Universe shows us just what we don’t need by removing it from us forcefully from our grip. In this sense the “death” can be a painful undertaking. But if you choose instead to cooperate, it can be an incredibly liberating experience.

You may have to accept that the very thing you so desperately cling to is the one that’s holding you back. In this respect, it’s more about leaving behind something that probably wasn’t working for you anyway and moving toward something that you’re naturally more aligned with in the end.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 24, 2015 — Page of Swords

Page of Swords

Page of Swords

You may be mulling over the 101 ideas that are rushing through your head today.  Just as one bright idea pops into your mind another sprouts up to take its place.

You need to stay focused if you wish to “win” a discussion. Don’t rush in too quickly; decide what you want the outcome to be, and don’t get distracted by things that have no bearing upon your original plan.

Reflect on how easy it would be to hit that butterfly with the sword as shown in this card. My guess is it would not be easy but it would distract you to the point of weakening your own arguments.

The Page of Swords may have his head in the clouds but that doesn’t mean it’s not full of ideas. He’s thinking and planning and strategizing at any given moment. He may have BIG ideas — bigger than he’s prepared to handle, much like that giant sword in his hands. But it’s those ideas that propel him forward, toward ultimately accomplishing his goals.

The Page of Swords can be charming and clever. He (or she) is also somewhat immature, temperamental and emotionally unsophisticated. You may grow tired of his antics have to resist the urge to yank him by the ear and send him to his room.

But there are positive attributes associated with this card as well. There’s curiosity, innovation and idealism that’s hard to find anywhere else. These are the gifts from the Page of Swords, which can inspire you to reach for the stars as well.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 22, 2015 — Five of Cups

Five of Cups

You may be facing some painful realities today and find yourself dealing with some very uncomfortable emotions.

The Five of Cups is not an easy card. It can indicate emotional upheavals, feelings of loss, loneliness, grief and regret.

As you can see in the imagery of this card — from the beautiful World Spirit Tarot — there may be tears and sadness. A woman is seen weeping into her hands at the base of the card while the five cups beside her are jostled about and spilling their contents onto the ground.

You may be reeling from a recent heartbreak or personal betrayal. A relationship that didn’t go the way you’d hoped or a dream that failed to materialize in the end. No one could accuse you of crying over spilled milk with this card — the grief that accompanies this card is generally very real.

But if you look closely you can see what the woman does not see, the Sun rising in the background, heralding a brand new day. And notice the Unicorn’s silhouette on the hillside. It waits there patiently for her, ready to take her away.

Remember though that you do participate in your destiny. And while you may not have any control over what goes down, you do have some say in how it all plays out. In how you react and respond to the hand you’re dealt. And what you do with it after you’ve dried your tears.

Your heartache can become a powerful conduit for healing. It can also become a gift that you pass onto others: the gift of empathy. Your own experiences lead to a deeper understanding of what others may be dealing with, and can translate into compassion, understanding, forgiveness and unconditional love.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 23, 2015 — Four of Wands

Four of Wands

Four of Wands

Today is a day for honoring the relationships you have developed with loved ones and family members.

It’s a day for rejoicing and celebrating — whether this means planning for a party or special event, or getting yourself out of the doldrums and washing away the blues.

The Four of Wands takes the “dream big” energy that came with the Three of Wands and turns it into something tangible, solid and lasting. It represents a joyous celebration: a marriage, a promotion, the birth of a child.

It tells you that “this is only the beginning” of something you’ve already established and that it’s bound to just keep getting better.

You may be planning a special event — one which will be way more fun than you are anticipating. You are likely to meet people, have fun, put your worries aside and focus instead on the promise of friendship, companionship and socializing.

This is a day or expressing love and affection for those who are there for you even when the going gets tough. It’s a day for basking in the power of love — like the two bunnies in this card.

No matter what else you’re up against today remember to be grateful for what you have. It’s not the time to isolate or withdraw from social opportunities. Look around you and take note of all you’ve accomplished thus far. Chances are good there’s a lot to be grateful for and a cause for celebration right there in front of you.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 21, 2015 — White Tiger Four

White Tiger Four

White Tiger Four

Patience and perseverance are on the menu today, as can be seen by the imagery in this card.

The White Tiger Four is the Feng Shui Tarot’s version of the Four of Swords. This card generally refers to a need for quiet, stillness, meditation and rest.

It can refer to a desire to retreat from all of the distractions in your life and reflect rather than “act.” It speaks of detaching from the whirlwind of activity around you and choosing to observe rather than participate.

But the emphasis here is more on restraint and self control… How easy would it be for that Tiger to leap over the bamboo fence and pounce on those sweet little songbirds? Or reach one of his mighty paws through the opening before they even knew he was there?

He may be just biding his time and waiting for the right moment. Perhaps he senses that the little birds could just as easily take flight and leave him there empty handed.

The bamboo fence is flimsy and falling apart. A portion of it is already missing. But even if it weren’t, it’s clear that it’s not strong enough to keep the Tiger at bay. Yet he watches and waits. He observes rather than reacts.

You may find yourself in a similar position today, especially in the afternoon and early evening hours when the the Moon in Capricorn trines Jupiter and then conjuncts Pluto. If you’re willing to wait for the right moment, exercising discipline and restraint can pay off for you in the end.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 20, 2015 — Page of Cups

Page of Cups

Page of Cups:

Today is a day for spreading the love and tending to those who are nearest and dearest to you with tender loving care.

The Page of Cups is sensitive, loving, gentle and kind. He’s nurturing and very compassionate — and more than willing to express his feelings of love and affection for others.

In this version of the card — from the Housewives Tarot — the Page of Cups is seen as a young boy watering a group of sunflowers with three faces in their centers. I can’t tell if these are family members or movie stars (is it Burgess Meredith, Red Skelton and Fred Astaire? I doubt it, but this is who they look like to me).

The flowers are planted in heart-shaped vases and the boy looks positively gleeful as he waters them. The flowers are thriving and lifting their sunny faces up toward him to soak it all in.

The Page of Cups may be someone in your life — a young child or someone with childlike qualities, gentleness, sweetness and idealism. Or it may be a set of qualities that you’re being called on to embrace. I love how this card focuses less on romantic love and more on tending to others. Seeing how love spreads and is responded to by others.

Is there someone in your life that needs a little nurturing today in order to lift their spirits or reach their full potential? Perhaps you’re in need of a bit of tender loving care yourself. The Page of Cups is here to remind you that when you give even a little you get a whole lot back in return, so take a few minutes today to see what you can do to gladden the hearts of others.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 19, 2015 — Donkey

Donkey

Donkey

Today’s card — the Donkey or Five of Fossils — is the Five of Pentacles in traditional tarot. It can indicate a need to rethink what you value, especially when it comes to your own sense of worth or self-esteem.

It can mark a period of financial adversity, such as seeing your earnings held up or seeing your resources dwindling as a result of unexpected expenses.

As Pentacles are linked to “values,” we most often think of money. But they also relate to self-worth: it’s hard to feel good about yourself when you’re struggling — financially or otherwise.

In this version of the card from the beautiful Animal Wisdom Tarot — the Donkey is seen carrying quite a heavy load. He trudges through the snow — alone — with all of his worldly possessions on his back. But look at the stars in the night sky and especially the one bright star that shines directly above him.

Notice how it shines through the fossils on his back and creates a prism of colors that glow all around him. He may be so caught up in the burden that he carries that he doesn’t even see it — which is one of the most important lessons associated with the Five of Pentacles.

You too may feel vulnerable and exposed under your current circumstances. You may be afraid to ask for help, especially if you’re sensitive to being watched or judged. But the message here is to work on overcoming those fears and on recapturing that inner beauty that glows all around you, even if you’re the last one to see it.
