Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 9, 2014 — Nine of Wands

9 of Wands

Nine of Wands

You may have to dig deep to push past some of the obstacles and frustrations you’re dealing with in your life right now.

And with a stressful aspect between Mercury and Pluto today, you might have to step back, take a breath and remind yourself that it’s not as bad as it seems. You may not be where you expected to be at this point, but you’ve still got a lot of fight left in you and you’re closer to the finish line than you know.

The Nine of Wands can refer to a moment of uncertainty or hesitation that comes after you’ve given what feels like your ALL and still haven’t seen the results for your efforts.

You may have been frustrated with the lack of progress — or worse — come *this close* to completing your journey, only to find another road-block directly ahead of you.

But if you look at it from an evolutionary perspective, you may be better able to understand why you’ve been forced to step back and to re-evaluate your needs. Perhaps the setbacks you’ve encountered haven’t been setbacks at all. Perhaps they’ve been lessons in disguise.

The figure in this card is surrounded by minor obstacles. A half formed “wall” encircles her with 8 flimsy rods stuck into the ground around it. The rods all have smiling cartoonish faces on them — including the one she’s retrieved and holds in her hand.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 7, 2014 — Death

death

 Death

Don’t be afraid of the Death card — it doesn’t refer to a literal “death.” It’s an indication that there’s something in your life that it’s time to put to rest.. or “put out to pasture” in keeping with the Prairie theme.

With the Sun opposite Chiron today and Mars in stressful aspect to Pluto, it could manifest as a snap decision, that aha! moment that tells you that something (or someone) just needs to go.

But be careful — this aspect can also be rash and impulsive, and potentially regrettable down the road.

Think about what is no longer serving you — whether that’s something literal, such as a relationship that’s run its course, or something more figurative, such as outdated ideas or belief systems.

Sometimes the Universe shows us just what we don’t need by removing it from us forcefully. In this sense the “death” can be a painful undertaking. But if you choose instead to cooperate, it can be an incredibly liberating experience.

In this rendition of the card, we see an old man getting ready to bury the remains of an ancient decaying bird. Perhaps this is a symbolic reference to something he’s held onto for too long — the carrion has been picked clean.

But this is no casual event: he’s dressed for the occasion and stands in solemn reverence as he prepares for the task at hand.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 6, 2014 — Four of Swords

Four of Swords

Four of Swords

WIth Mercury and Neptune in quincunx today, you may be looking for ways to quiet the thoughts and ideas that are racing through your mind.

The Four of Swords refers to the period of silence, stillness and recuperation that is so necessary when chaos and turbulence surround you.

The imagery in this card is so poignant. We see a tree that has almost been broken by the weight of its despair, yes has somehow managed to right itself. The four swords propping it up are all sturdy and unyielding.

The sky in the background may look ominous, and the leaves may have all fallen and died. Yet the tree itself remains strong and secure — there’s no longer any danger of defeat.

This is the essence of the 4 of swords: having come through something so traumatic, you can pause and reflect on all that has transpired before deciding on your next move.

You may have to put some things to rest — such as dreams that have died or relationships that have run their course.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 5, 2014 — Eight of Pentacles

Eight of Pentacles

Eight of Pentacles

What are you working on today that you’ve put all of your heart and soul into?

With Venus moving into Virgo today, working (Virgo) on something you love (Venus) should be taking center stage.

The Eight of Pentacles is sometimes referred to as the “apprenticeship” card as it relates to fully investing yourself in a skill or trade. It’s usually a labor of love. It’s not about seeing work as drudgery, but instead being totally engaged in whatever it is you’re devoting your time to.

The Eight of Pentacles also sometimes has to do with changing gears — as in finding your calling at a point where you might have already considered yourself well on the road to success in some other profession.

See the woman in this card putting the finishing touch on one of her pieces. All the others are displayed with pride on the wall behind her. She’s not hunched over some desk crunching numbers: she’s got a smile on her face and a bounce in her step.

This is the essence of the Eight of Pentacles: It’s all about perfecting your skills and doing it with such joy and contentment that the finished product is something you can be proud of.

Two of Wands

Two of Wands

Your hopes and dreams swim before you as you sit and ponder what you are going to do today.

You may have a plan that you are keeping it to yourself. From your point of view you have not put the finishing touches to it yet and you do not wish to take your first step but rather wish to wait until everything falls into place.

If you are having problems in a relationship you may not be seeing the other person’s point of view but the views and thoughts that are currently on your mind going around and around in circles and furthering a retreat within you that is surely not doing the relationship any favours.

However, even on saying this it may be what is needed as a situation that has become intolerable for you will require planning and answers as to how you can either fix it or remove yourself.

Notice the image of the lion with the unicorn horn. This may be a mythical creature but it is also a creature that can serve you well if you require self preservation.

It also shows you have a mind that will not only see one way out of your predicament but other perhaps more unusual ways too.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 9, 2014 — Ten of Spirals

Ten of Spirals

Ten of Spirals

As the Sun conjuncts Mercury today there is an abundance of thoughts and ideas for you… not to mention perhaps the need to talk more than usual. However, as this aspect is being squared by Saturn there is also the feeling that you need to be a bit careful in what you say or a sense of holding back.

If you look at this image of the ten Spirals you will get the general idea of what you may be up against today and how to make it work for you.

As the human part of the centaur tries to race ahead (Sun conjunct Mercury) the horse part can be seen trying to hold back (Saturn). There are several choices you may be making today and it may not do well for you to rush into the first one you deem fit or that takes your attention because all roads looked as if they are “paved with gold”. What is important is that you plan ahead and are seen not to be carrying a heavy load when you get to the end of the road (choice) you make.

Right now you may feel as if you are carrying the world on your back and indeed from this image you are. Yet the spirals in their various shapes and colours may also be a “gift” just waiting to be unravelled that will serve you best on another path or on another day. Do not discard all thoughts and ideas today and blindly rush in because you think you need to be “doing” something.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 2, 2014 — Page of Wands

page of Wands

Page of Wands

Today, with Mercury and Jupiter coming together in Leo you should be feeling more creative, enthusiastic, energetic and alive. The Page of Wands combines the fearlessness, restlessness and impulsivity of the Page with the fiery, dynamic, passionate energy associated with the Wands (or Fire) element.

This card is about racing toward your goals with the sort of fierce determination that propels you toward the finish line. There’s no conserving your energy or plodding along methodically when it comes to the Page of Wands. It’s all go go go and get it done now!

You may be rushing toward a deadline, scrambling to outsmart your competitors or planning an adventure — but even in that case there’s little planning involved. It’s more about chasing after your goals and striking while the iron is hot.

In this version of the card we meet the Greek god Phrixus, charging toward Colchis on his golden ram as he races to outrun his assassins. He raises his wand triumphantly in one hand and guides the ram towards his destination with the other.

This is the essence of the Page of Wands. It represents the urge to get the ball rolling, make things happen, and fearlessly go after your goals without worrying about consequences or pitfalls.

Ten of Swords

Ten of Swords

Today, with Venus opposing Pluto and Mercury squaring the Nodes, you may have to think about surrendering to the knowledge that the Universe has something different in store for you than what you’ve been holding onto.

The Ten of Swords is similar to the Death card in that it forces you to accept — once and for all — the need to put something to rest.  It could be a relationship, a job, a hope or plan for the future, or it could be a set of belief systems that are no longer aligned with your principles.

Out of all the cards in the tarot, this one best describes the process of conceding defeat and letting go of the fight — thus liberating yourself from further heartache and misery.

In this version of the card, we see the goddess Athena intervening on behalf of Orestes, who lays crumpled in a ball at her feet. He’s been relentlessly chased, taunted and tormented by the furies, avenging his mother’s death.

Orestes is not blameless here. Even though he was acting on direct orders from Apollo, he’s still committed murder. He’s beaten himself up mercilessly, and is consumed with guilt and shame. But Athena steps in and intercedes: “enough,” she says. “Enough.”

If you look closely though, you can see that while Orestes lies defeated at her feet, the sun still rises in the background.

Free Daily Tarotscope — July 23, 2014 — Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords

Decisions that you make today will require you to use intellect and logic rather than emotions and intuition.

The Queen of Swords signals a need for discipline. Whether you’re acting in this capacity or dealing with someone who embodies these qualities — like authority, self-reliance and impartiality — today you will need to rise to the occasion.

The Queen of Swords in most decks can be rather cold and austere. She can be critical and judgmental, detached from her emotions and unwilling to compromise her convictions. But this version emphasizes wisdom and maturity.

Notice the silver hair and tattered robes. She’s not here to impress anybody. She knows who she is and is comfortable in her own skin. She doesn’t wield her sword like a  weapon; she caresses it comfortably, just as her bare feet keep her grounded and rooted to the earth.

She may be a woman in your life: if so consider that you can count on her to tell you the truth. She’s got high standards and impeccable ethics, which she didn’t acquire by marching to the beat of anyone else’s drum.

Perhaps this is someone whose courage and strength you admire: an older woman, a widow often, someone who has weathered her share of disappointments and still holds her head high.

Free Daily Tarotscope — July 17, 2014 — Ten of Disks

Ten of Disks

Ten of Disks

Today you want to be counting your blessings and recognizing all of the hard work — including that of those who have helped you along the way — that has gotten you to where you are today.

The Ten of Disks refers to that level of accomplishment that has been built up over time. It’s a card of community, hospitality and stability that carries on from one generation to the next.

Many versions of this card depict — in addition to the ten prominent gold pentacles — a homestead, generations of a family (including the family pets) and a lust abundant surroundings. These are all important references to concept of security that is built up over time.

The Ten of Disks is called “Wealth” in some decks. But remember that wealth is relative, and no one gets there alone.

The Ten Disks in this card are placed in the ten Sephira that make up the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. The Symbol for each disk is associated with its corresponding planet: The Sun at the center (Tiphareth), the Moon at the Foundation (Yesod) and Earth representing the Kingdom (Malkuth). The planets themselves are placed in the columns on either side.

A rainbow of rays emanate from each disk: for example an astrological chart emanating from Malkuth and Kircher’s 72 names of God emanating from Kether.

Free Daily Tarotscope — July 9, 2014 — Seven of Wands

Seven of Wands

Seven of Wands

You may find yourself in a situation today that you need to come out fighting to protect yourself and those around you. If this is the case then make sure you have a game plan in place because the opposition looks as if they are not taking any heed of your words or actions.

If there is a situation building up in your workplace that looks as if it may blow up you need to take several steps back and watch from the side lines. Do not get embroiled within the game that is being played out here as it looks suspiciously like bullying and the more power you give to this bullying the more the bully will benefit from it.

You may wish to look at what rights you do have because even though you look like the “under dog” (or “under fox”) in this situation you have other avenues to explore and those avenues will need to be you keeping a clear head while you ascertain what legal rights you could use to get this bully off your back.

If you look at the image in this card you will see that you are perhaps trying to protect others with your behaviour or that you are trying to protect what you have earned whether this be your reputation or your position you will not back down and just hand it over without a fight.

There is also the position you hold within the image and it looks as if you are the one whose territory is being encroached on.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 30, 2014 — Four of Pentacles

Four of Pentacles

Four of Pentacles

What exactly are you holding onto and what do you need to let go of?

The 4 of Pentacles is a card of keeping what you have and not letting go of it. Whether this be, as is implied by the pentacles… money or possibly something else in your life ie an outdated idea, emotions that do not serve you well or even points of view on a situation that if you don’t shift will keep the situation in status quo.

Look at the figure in this card s/he is hanging onto the tree for dear life. Each limb is attached to a pentacle and even though s/he is quite clear thinking as can be seen from the light above the head there is also a capacity here to be so caught up in one’s thinking that it doesn’t take you forward but keeps you stuck in outdated modes of action.

There is treasure in this card. Gemstones light the way to a pile of riches laid out spectacularly under the tree… almost growing within the tree and giving it sustenance. You may need to let go a little of your preconceived ideas in order to build your wealth or take advantage of opportunities that come your way without holding on too tightly to what you think you may or may not lose.

You have the capacity to go far. You will not lose anything if you take the risk… no apples are falling from the tree, nothing is rotting on the ground, nothing about this card speaks of loss. The path you need to take is softly lit and it will not be difficult to take the first step which is also illuminated from the 9 crystals placed around the treasure within the tree.
