Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 29, 2014 — The Mirror

the Mirror

The Mirror

The Mirror is the Wildwood Tarot’s version of the Hanged Man. And like the Hanged Man, there are references of surrender, spiritual growth and sacrifice in this card.

But unlike the Hanged Man, the Mirror card is more about internal awareness than it is about external challenges. There’s less emphasis on the suspension of time and more on the process of self-discovery.

The central figure in this card is a Siren who has emerged from the depths of the sea. She holds a mirror in one hand and lifts up a glowing orb in the other. In the foreground we see a crane — messenger to the Gods — and in the distance a small island just beyond a burial at sea.

Neptune squares Venus today and trines the Sun. While the square can drive home an uncomfortable realization that things aren’t as perfect as they seem, the trine counters that awareness with acceptance and acquiescence.

There are definite surrender aspects to this card. The Mirror itself — held close to the Siren’s heart — speaks of looking within, accessing your intuition and embracing all that is reflected back to you. And the orb lifted up towards the heavens speaks of looking outside of yourself for spiritual guidance.

These are both valid endeavors, and both will ultimately move you past some of the obstacles that are hindering your progress.

Free Daily Tarotscope — June 20, 2014 — The Hierophant

Hierophant

The Hierophant

Today as Chiron turns retrograde, you might be looking at how some of your own life experiences — including those that have brought you pain — have led you to express more kindness, compassion and understanding toward others.

Chiron was known as the “Wounded Healer” in Greek mythology. Chiron the planet represents a similar dynamic in astrology. It refers to the point of “woundedness” — which so often results in immense compassion and understanding — in the natal  chart.

Unlike other savage and unruly Centaurs, Chiron was intelligent, wise and humble. He was a teacher as well as a healer. He taught medicine to the ruling class from a specially prepared cave. He was known as a great healer, but having been accidentally pricked by a poisoned arrow, was unable to heal himself.

I love this version of the Hierophant card, which is usually so steeped in traditional religious symbolism that it’s hard for many to relate to. But all of us have a vast amount of untapped wisdom locked away in our own private “caves.” Sometimes this wisdom is hidden even from ourselves. And this is where embracing the Chiron retrograde archetype comes in.

This is a time of turning inward and accessing previously undiscovered gifts. Often it’s those experiences that have broken us down that lend themselves to our greatest strengths. The retrograde encourages us to look within and to break through some of the traumas that have been holding us back.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 19, 2014 — Knight of Cups

Knight of Cups

Knight of Cups

It’s a big day today with the Sun conjunct Mercury which is still retrograde, as you may have already guessed from everything going a bit crazy around you.

So with that said and today looking as if retrograde Mercury will be hit with a dose of sunshine directly within its path you can look forward (or not) to things maybe going a bit more haywire than they have recently been.

In rides the Knight of Cups to add a bit of flare and drama to what is otherwise a day of needing to keep your wits about you so you don’t lose any more of your precious time trying to sort out the messes Mercury retrograde has been making.

Perhaps your partner will try to finally sit down with you today and talk things through. Well don’t go looking for any answers all at once because from the look of the image of the Knight of Cups he may have his emotions laid out for everyone to see but he doesn’t look as if he has any control or an inkling of what he really feels and/or wants underneath.

For this reason you need to hear him out with an open mind (and heart) and not make any sudden decisions yourself until things have calmed down.

If you lay one more thing at his feet he may either a) jump up to try to fix it quickly without thinking what he is saying or b) it will be the last straw for him and he’ll turn and run.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 17, 2014 — Three of Swords

Three of Swords

Three of Swords

While Mercury moves back into Gemini today — the sign it rules — it’s also still retrograde. This can be a bit of a double edge-sword (or three of them in the case of this card) as it can increase the disagreements and miscommunications that are associated with Mercury retrograde.

The Three of Swords is often associated with emotional disharmony, heartache and separation. And you could be dealing with the fallout from this very thing today. But keep in mind that disharmony is usually rooted in misunderstanding, or at the very least a misassumption about your role in someone else’s life.

Mercury at 29° Gemini is conjunct the fixed star Betelgeuse, which is favorable in general but can also be quite volatile. Betelgeuse is said to have Mercury and Mars undertones, which can contribute to the harsh words and snap decisions that lead to the heartache associated with this card.

In this version of the card there are three Swords lancing a serpent-entwined egg — known as the Orphic or Cosmological Egg. This represents the seed of life — that from which all else springs — as well its infinite potential.

In this respect it can be said that the swords lancing it represent a necessary separation. A need to “cut through” that which is no longer serving you, in the spirit of making room for what does.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 12, 2014 — Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

You may have so much on your plate today that it feels like “rush rush rush” for you as you scramble to get things accomplished.

The Eight of Wands is all about action, progress and momentum. It’s about getting things done and making things happen.

It may be as simple as ticking off all the little things on your to-do list, and it may be as significant as making great headway on an important project.

While it might feel to you like there just aren’t enough hours in the day, you could be surprised when the day is over to see how much you really accomplished.

The Eight of Wands is a high energy card and also sometimes refers to travel. In that respect it  relates to being literally and physically on the go. Are you planning a weekend getaway? Use this extra energy to make preparations for your trip.

Look at the Eight Unicorns galloping down the canyon on this card. They’re raring to go and although not all of them are moving in the same direction, they’ all appear to know exactly where they’re going.

The Moon is in Sagittarius today. Although it’s not quite full, it’s getting there and will be by the time the weekend rolls around.

Think about what it is you want to accomplish right now. The Eight of Wands encourages you to take the initiative and to get the ball rolling.

Free Daily Tarotscope — June 10, 2014 — King of Cups

 King of Cups

Today is all about getting in touch with your feelings and emotions. As with all of the court cards, the King of Cups may refer to an individual in your life, or it may represent an attitude of mindset that you need to adopt.

In this version of the card, we see the Greek god Orpheus, son of Apollo and Calliope, known as a passionate and loving priest. He sits on golden throne at the edge of the sea, a chalice in one hand and his lyre in the other. A pair of crabs, the symbol for the astrological sign of Cancer, are etched into the armrests, while another crab — this time a living one — emerges from the sea and scuttles onto the base of his throne.

Today’s Moon is in watery Scorpio, and for at least part of the day conjunct Saturn and in trine to both Jupiter and Chiron. The conjunction with Saturn lends an air of authority and discipline, while the trines to Jupiter and Chiron add sensitivity, vulnerability and compassion. What better representative of those energies than Orpheus himself?

Orpheus was a great minstrel whose hauntingly beautiful melodies not only lulled the sleepless dragon to sleep, but gained him entrance into the Underworld to retrieve his beloved Eurydice, after her tragic death. And retrieve her he did, almost making it back to the entrance before he defied the god Hades’ one condition: “Don’t look back.”

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 2, 2014 — Two of Arrows

Two of Arrows

Two of Arrows

Today you could be dealing with a situation at work or in your private life that seems unfair.

You may have felt personally undermined by someone, or you may be witness to an injustice that is impossible to turn your back on.

But rather than jumping to conclusions, this card encourages you to sit back and weigh each side of the situation before coming to a decision.

The Two of Swords (called Arrows in the Wildwood Tarot), is called “Injustice” in this version. It refers to the sense of unfairness that you may bear witness to, whether you’re dealing with it personally or not.

In this deck, Arrows refer to Spring and to the astrological element Air. Twos always relate to inequity, encouraging you to strike a balance, right a wrong or find a compromise.

In keeping with the more traditional meaning of this card, you may have make a decision about what to think and what to believe. If you’re forced into the role of a mediator between two friends, whose side do you choose? Perhaps both arguments have merit (which is usually the case) and you have to shut yourself off from any preconceived notions or biases in order to decide.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 1, 2014 — Page of Pentacles

Page of Pentacles

Page of Pentacles

Have you been thinking of different ways to make money or add something to your life without selling out yourself or your enjoyment of life in doing so?

Today you may find yourself thinking about how you can do so and whereas the imagery in this card makes the answer look simple there are a few layers to it that perhaps you need to explore within yourself first before you see your way to clear to making new plans.

Look at the terrain this beautifully depicted tree sits on and the patterned swirls within the landscape.

Meditation may help you come to realise your path and if you can get outside today, into nature and walk under her calming influence the chances are your answers will come to you sooner.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 30, 2014 — Two of Pentacles

Two of Pentacles

Two of Pentacles

Today you may need to see both sides of an argument where you weigh one side against the other.  These two sides are totally opposite so you need to be on your toes that you don’t get too caught up in one side at the expense of the other.

Have you been trying to decide that you wish to do something and nearly have yourself talked into it?

You’ve weighed up the pro’s and the con’s but then suddenly you take a 180 degree turn and find yourself looking at your decision from the opposite side and feel as if you can’t make a move.

This type of decision making can keep you caught and stuck in thought so long that you end up not making your mind up and therefore may miss an opportunity that has presented itself to you.

The snake curling throughout the coins suggests that with whatever decision you come up with; change will be required.

Think of a snake shedding its skin… its that type of change: a total transformation whether this be in your thought processes, relationship, finances, career, etc.

Your indecision may come from not wanting to get “bitten” if you make the wrong choice and with this in mind you need to look what you really want and if there are any downsides to one decision over the other. All avenues must be explored.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 29, 2014 — Six of Cups

Six of Cups

Six of Cups

You may feel as if you are being pulled back in time today although from the look of this image on the Six of Cups, being pulled back in time may not be such a bad thing after all.

With the gorgeous underground water environment as your playground and no swimming against the tide seen you can just enjoy yourself amongst your friends and family… with family possibly meaning those of a similar nature to yourself.

The new moon today forms a trine to Mars and as Mars has been possibly causing all types of setbacks and problems recently this is like a breath of fresh air and one that you should take advantage of given that the new moon falls in the sign of Gemini… a sign known for its intellectual agility.

Another area you may wish to reassess within your life today is where you “fit”.  The image on this card implies a wee girl floating around, having fun and allowing life to take her wherever it will and as she is within a water environment her emotions will be playing a large part as to how she is feeling. However, you do not want wish to allow your emotions to rule you entirely… although it might be fun for a while to feel that free and easy.

You may also wish to keep in mind that Mercury enters the sign of Cancer today where not only thoughts of your past will be running around your mind but also words you may wish to say to someone that you didn’t quite get the chance to complete whether from events in their life or your life holding you back.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 13, 2014 — Princess of Swords

Princess of Swords

Princess of Swords

Are you waiting to hear from someone today or expecting an important message?

Perhaps you’re in the process of negotiating a contract or settlement, and are preparing to sign on the dotted line.

The Princess (or Page) of Swords is a “messenger card.” You may hear from an old friend, receive news, or learn the answer to a nagging question — whether it’s the answer you were hoping for or not.

As with all the court cards, the Princess of Swords card refer to someone in your life (or coming in) or it can refer to a frame of mind that you need to adopt in order to meet your goals. If this is someone in your life now, you can expect her to cut to the chase, not mince words, and tell you the truth without sugar coating it.

In this version of the card, the Princess stands alert in field of wildflowers. A gentle breeze tousles her hair and cloak. Her sword is held high but blade down, and wrapped in a silken ribbon. A bird flies high in the distance, perhaps delivering a message to a far-off place.

The Princesses in the Druid Craft Tarot deck are the female versions of “Pages” in traditional decks. They’re youthful, sensitive, and sincere. They’re full of potential, lacking in worldly experience and sophistication and may be overly idealistic and naive.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 10, 2014 — Ten of Wands

Ten of Wands

Ten of Wands

You may feel like you’re carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders today, which appears to be exactly what’s happening with the young Dryad in this card.

The Ten of Wands refers to a situation that’s so overwhelming and exhausting that you’re left feeling completely spent. You may feel like you’re all alone in the world or that you’re not getting any outside support — which is especially true right now with today’s Sun / Saturn opposition.

What do you think would happen if the Dryad tried to just lay down her load and walk away? Everything would fall apart of course. And the same thing would happen to you.

This is the Ten of Wands dilemma: You can’t just throw in the towel and say “I’m done.” There are obligations and responsibilities to uphold as well as people who depend on you who’d likely be hurt by your neglect.

The question you might want to ask yourself today is this: “Is life (or love) supposed to be this hard?” The value of whatever it is that’s taxed you to your limits probably needs to be reassessed.

A Saturn / Sun opposition can also manifest as a rejection or as an encounter with someone who makes you feel inadequate. Much like the Ten of Wands, it’s the Universe’s way of forcing you to go it alone in order to foster autonomy.
