King of Stones

King of Stones

Look at that great big Full Moon the Wolf is howling at in this card. It’s also a Blue Moon and a Super Moon, loaded with Myth and Magic.

The King of Stones is the Wildwood Tarot’s version of the King of Pentacles. He’s an authority figure, a boss, parent, or mentor. He’s a natural leader — whether he’s leading a pack or acting as a lone wolf, as seen in this card.

He knows how to make his presence known without causing too big a ruckus. He may seem imposing but his bark is generally worse than his bite. He’s a steadfast and solid individual who refuses to back down.

The King of Stones also knows how to protect his assets. Whether this relates to material possessions or his family and loved ones, he’s known for being territorial. He’s not about to let anyone to trifle with what he has.

Whether this is someone in your life or an attitude that you need to adopt, the King of Stones is here to teach you the importance of letting your intentions be known. This isn’t the time to cower in the shadows. It’s time to step up and mark your territory, without stepping on anyone’s toes.

Today’s Full Moon is in Pisces, which brings in the idea of following your dreams. There’s a gentler edge to this Moon which makes it more about finding your inspiration that blindly accumulating trinkets. Take some time to figure out what you want, and then go after it with the determination and enthusiasm that gets you howling at the Moon.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 23, 2015 — Prince of Pentacles

Prince of Pentacles

Prince of Pentacles

As the Sun enters Virgo today you may be thinking about pursuing your goals with more dedication and dogged determination than ever.

Today’s card, the Prince of Pentacles — is the Druid Craft Tarot’s version of the Knight of Pentacles. It knows that slow and steady wins the race, even though that pace may be maddeningly frustrating for others.

There’s a tendency to get too caught up in the details, with both the Prince of Pentacles and Sun in Virgo. And there’s a tendency to be almost too cautious and practical. While it’s good to be prepared, you don’t want to be so focused on preparation that you risk letting important opportunities pass you by.

The Prince of Pentacles wants to think about where he’s going before he sets off toward his destination. He wants to consider his options before he expends any unnecessary energy. And once he gets going he knows how to conserve his resources so he can get to the finish line without having used them up.

There’s no question that he’ll meet his goals, and if this is someone in your life you can bet he’s here to teach you to do the same.

The Prince of Pentacles knows how to conserve his energy, establish goals and get the job done. The presence of this card today — and the Sun moving into Virgo — invites you to take a page from his book and work on planning for your future.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 22, 2015 — Five of Blades

Tarot of the Zirkus Mägi -- 5 of Blades

 Five of Blades

Today you may find yourself at odds with others, thanks to a stressful aspect (square) between the Sun and Saturn. This aspect generates tension between these two planets and can manifest as power struggles and conflicts with others.

The Five of Blades is the Tarot of the Zirkus Magi’s version of the Five of Swords. It’s called “Opposition” in this deck, referring to a situation in which egos take center stage.

While the Five of Blades can be combative, this is not about physical conflicts. It’s going to be verbal, mental or in some way related to communications. Religious / political differences are one example of the stale-mate that can arise where the Five of Blades is concerned.

There’s a certain smugness or an air of superiority seen in the figures on this card. Neither of them are about to hear what the other has to say, nor are they going to admit defeat.

Both are so convinced that they’re right that they see no reason to hear the other person out. Compromise is out of the question. Agreeing to disagree is about as close as they’re going to get and as you can see from the figures in this card, that’s not getting them anywhere.

This is the problem with the Five of Blades. You may be so invested in being right — and being in the know — that you’re unable to see what those investments are costing you. You may be at odds with someone who has different values, or you may feel the need to show them the flaws in their reasoning. But neither of these are going to win you any friends or strengthen the friendships you do have.

Ask yourself whether being right is worth jeopardizing the important relationships in your life. You can go a long ways toward salvaging your relationships — or at least doing some damage control — by acknowledging the value in someone else’s point of view.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 18, 2015 — Nine of Wands

Nine of Wands

Nine of Wands

You may find yourself having to rise up and meet a challenge today that uses every last ounce of strength and fortitude you have at your disposal.

The Nine of Wands can represent a “test” from the Universe that comes when you least expect it. It can manifest as a challenge that arises after you’ve given what feels like your ALL and are looking forward to a period of smooth sailing.

This version of the card — from the original Mythic Tarot — shows the last hurdle of Jason’s journey to the Island of Iolkos, where he still has to make passage through the Clashing Rocks.

His destination is visible in the distance, illuminated by Nine flaming Wands and surrounded by perfectly calm waters. But getting there seems next to impossible.

The waves crashing into his ship and storm clouds brewing in his distance make this last leg of his journey all the more perilous. But he has to keep going; it’s too late to turn back.

This is the essence of the Nine of Wands: you may have been frustrated with the lack of progress or worse, come “this close” to completing your journey only to find another roadblock ahead of you.

This is very similar to the frustrations and impediments that abound when you perhaps haven’t made clear plans for what you wish to do. You may need to take a breather, but you’re almost at the finish line and are closer to your goals than you realize. So dust yourself off, get back to work, and push yourself past this final test.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 11, 2015 — Rebirth

Rebirth

Rebirth

As Jupiter moves into Virgo today — for the first time in 11 years — you’ll have the opportunity to look back over the strides you’ve made and the challenges you’ve faced, as you begin a brand new cycle.

The young child in this card stands at the doorway between past and present. He still has an opportunity to look back behind him and clear up any unfinished business. But he has that same opportunity to venture forward and face a brand new world.

This card — called Rebirth in the Druid Craft Tarot — is this deck’s version of the Judgment card. It relates to the endless human journey that we sometimes refer to as “karma.” We reap and sew with each thought, action, and decision.

The Rebirth card calls for self-evaluation and awareness, a need to develop enough spiritual altitude to look objectively at your mistakes and short-comings as well as your triumphs and victories.

It is a powerful reminder that in order to put the past behind us we must not only let go of prior judgments but heal the wounds that have been holding us back. It’s a card of both atonement and forgiveness. Of unconditional love, understanding and acceptance — for both ourselves and for those who’ve hurt us or let us down.

This card represents a summation of all that has come before, and an awareness that each step taken — from here on out — leaves an indelible imprint on our future. It represents a calling — a spiritual call to action, where the past meets the present and beckons you toward the future.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 8, 2015 — Three of Pentacles

Three of Pentacles

Three of Pentacles

You may feel like things are starting to come together for you today as you see your plans beginning to fall into place.

It’s a good day to put your head together with like-minded people and work on bringing a project to fruition. The Three of Pentacles is a “teamwork” card, among other things.

This card is about hitting your stride and seeing the early results of something you’ve been working hard on. Sometimes you need help to take it to the next level, even if that comes in the form of a critical eye.

The Three of Pentacles — like all Threes — refers to the initial stages of progress where you’ve taken an idea (the Ace), put it into production (the Two), and see it turning into something of value (the Three).

This version of the card — from Dana Driscoll’s gorgeous Tarot of Trees — depicts this energy beautifully in its stark simplicity. The three trees merge together in the center, their pentacles melding into one and supporting one another at the top.

The Three of Pentacles says that you’re making progress and should be feeling good about what you’ve accomplished so far. But there’s still work to be done, and you won’t be able to do it alone. It’s a good time to reach out to others and ask for help if you need it. It can’t hurt to offer it to those who’d benefit from your assistance too. You may need a little push to get past a hump, or you may need the discerning eye of someone you trust.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jul 29, 2015 — Prince of Wands

Prince of Wands

Prince of Wands

Today’s card, the Prince of Wands — the Druid Craft Tarot’s version of the Knight of Wands — speaks of gathering up the courage and confidence that’s needed to go after your goals.

It may be a dream you’d set aside because you lacked the time, energy or resources to follow it n the past. It could be an interest that’s been calling out to you that’s no longer possible to resist. And it might be something (or someone) you’re passionate about that you’re only now in a position to pursue.

The Prince of Wands encourages you to move past your fears and go after your dreams with the attitude that nothing can stand in your way. You don’t want to waiver or second-guess yourself; you want to grab onto opportunities that present themselves without a moment’s hesitation.

This doesn’t mean you ought to go gallivanting across the countryside without a plan. Keep in mind that the Prince of Wands can be a bit rash — in an act first and figure out how to get out of whatever predicament you’ve gotten yourself into later sort of way. Because he runs on adrenaline, he has a tendency to lose interest in anything that becomes routine.

If this is someone in your life, you will know him by his confidence and bravado. He may he here to teach you the importance of embracing some of these qualities yourself. But if instead this card represents an energy and attitude you already possess, keep in mind the importance of making preparations and pacing yourself so you don’t run out of steam.

The Prince of Wands is here to remind you that it’s a good time to dream big, challenge yourself and set your goals in motion. If you temper those goals with a enough discipline and perseverance, you may just see them manifest beyond your wildest dreams.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jul 22, 2015 — Page of Stones

Page of Stones

Page of Stones

With Mercury trining Saturn today, it’s a good time to gather information that may be useful for you down the road. The Page of Stones — the Wildwood Tarot’s version on the Page of Pentacles — is known for being patient and diligent, much like the Lynx in this card.

He’s watchful and attentive but not quite ready to pounce. He relies on his instincts — and all five senses — to alert him to danger before it has a chance to strike. He’s conscious of every sight, sound, smell and movement in the wilderness around him, from the safety of his perch.

The Page of Stones is more intent on focusing and observing than he is on acting or doing: he’s not about to expend any excess energy unless it becomes absolutely necessary. Of all the Pages in the Tarot, this one is most capable of biding his time and exercising restraint.

He’s still got some growing to do. He still isn’t where he hopes to one day be. But he knows that good things come to those who wait and that he may have to conserve his energy in case he needs it later on.

He also knows that if he needs to act he can because he’s secured his position and made the appropriate preparations. He doesn’t quite blend into his surroundings but he’s compensated for that by placing himself out of harm’s way.

The Mercury / Saturn trine is similar in that it emphasizes forethought and preparation, especially as these two planets are in water signs which means they’re more primitive and instinctual than aggressive or action-oriented. This aspect is especially good for planning and information-gathering, which could serve you well today — especially if you can see yourself putting those plans into motion and acting on them down the road.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jul 20, 2015 — Four of Scrolls

Four of Scrolls

Four of Scrolls

The Four of Scrolls is the Chrysalis Tarot’s version of the Four of Swords. It refers to the need for silence, stillness and recuperation that is so necessary when chaos and turbulence surround you.

You may be recovering from a broken heart (as seen in the Three of Scrolls) and if so this card recommends taking the time to tend to it. Or you may just need to step away from your own racing thoughts in order to get a better understanding of your feelings.

The woman in this card looks pensive. She’s curled up in an almost fetal position, protecting her tender heart. As her wings suggest, she’s quite capable of taking flight, but she knows that now is not the time to do that. She knows she needs to find comfort in the stillness that surrounds her and in her own humility.

Who knows what words of wisdom are written on the scrolls that are placed beneath her? They may be lessons that she’s learned or that she’s still trying to absorb. Lessons about acceptance, understanding and forgiveness.

The Four of Scrolls encourages you to ponder, reflect and meditate rather than “act.” It speaks of detaching from the whirlwind of activity around you and choosing to observe rather than participate.

It encourages you to disengage from the distractions around you and to find your strength through recovery. It could be as simple as getting away for a few days to relax and recharge your batteries. And it could be as profound as going on a life-altering pilgrimage or spiritual retreat. If you can’t get away there are other ways to regain your sanity. Meditation, breathwork, self-imposed silence, etc. — any one of these can help you to de-stress and restore your equilibrium.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jul 5, 2015 — Six of Cups

Six of Cups

Six of Cups

Today is a day for pleasant thoughts and communications, courtesy of a harmonious aspect between Mercury and Venus.

The Mercury / Venus sextile — in curious, inquisitive Gemini and warm, gregarious Leo — is all about cooperation and compromise.

And the Six of Cups — this version comes from Jennifer Galasso’s gorgeous Crystal Visions Tarot — speaks of innocence, sentimentality and memories from days gone by. You may be missing someone, longing for the comforts and companions that have gone by the wayside over time.

You could also hear from an old friend unexpectedly today. Someone who’s been on your mind and who reaches out across the miles, reminding you of long-forgotten events that come rushing back in a wave of nostalgia.

You may also feel the urge to reach out to those who remind you of life’s simpler pleasures, such as a family member or a childhood friend. And if you’re lucky enough to be surrounded by loved ones today, you should have no problem recapturing those memories.

It’s also a good time to surround yourself with children — your own or someone else’s. Seeing the world through their eyes can help you to recapture the innocence and wonder that comes from seeing things in a different light, and not allowing yourself to become jaded by life’s small disappointments and letdowns.

This is not the time to bring old grievances back to the forefront. It’s time to focus on pleasure, playfulness and joy, and working on creating new memories with those you love.

You may have been taking life too seriously and find yourself needing to get in touch with your inner child. Or you now may have to let your guard down and allow yourself to trust again — especially if you’ve been trying to guard your heart from pain. The Six of Cups is about sharing and bringing the happier memories from your past forward to today.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jul 4, 2015 — Six of Pentacles

Six of Pentacles

Six of Pentacles

What if money really did grow on trees? And what if it were so plentiful that there was always enough to go around?

This seems to be what’s happening here with the Tarot of Trees version of the Six of Pentacles. These little guys look like they are squirreling it away for the winter. And of course it’s always wise to be resourceful.

But there’s something more valuable here than just the unexpected windfall. There’s the joyful act of sharing rather than just grabbing it all for yourself.

Front and center in this card is the consummate “giving tree.” You can imagine that if you reached up and plucked a gold coin from one of its branches that another one would grow in its place.

And this is attitude you want to take with you today: that there is always enough for everyone and that prosperity and abundance can be continuously replenished.

An important feature of the Six of Pentacles is also gratitude. Noticing the small miracles and blessings that surround you as well as the bigger ones. And honoring those who’ve helped you along the way.

Today is a day for both giving and receiving. It doesn’t have to be money or material things; it can be as simple as a smile, a hug, a pat on the back or a moment of your time. Be conscious of all that you receive as well, and don’t forget to say thanks!

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 24, 2015 — Hanged Man

Hanged Man

Hanged Man

Mars moves into Cancer today, just as Chiron turns retrograde. The combination of these two transits can not only slow things down for you, but can put you in a position of making an important but necessary sacrifice.

The Hanged Man — this version from the wonderful Mythic Tarot — refers to a period of waiting. It can manifest as delays or restrictions as in seeing something you want so desperately held just outside of your grasp.

You could be frustrated over something that’s taken too long to manifest, or have the sense that nothing is happening despite your best efforts. Road blocks are put in your path — often for your own good. But this card doesn’t refer to endings; this is more about putting something on hold than it is about closing any doors.

The Hanged Man in this card is portrayed by the Greek god Prometheus, who sacrificed so much in order to bring fire to mankind. As penance he was sentenced by Zeus to a life of pain and misery; he was shackled to a boulder high in the mountains where his liver was devoured by an eagle who repeated this torture for the remainder of his days.

Because Prometheus was immortal, he couldn’t just die, nor could his liver be consumed only once. It renewed itself every night, only to be devoured again the next day. Zeus eventually took pity on Prometheus (after 30 years!) and allowed him to be rescued by Heracles, putting an end to the threat of eternal damnation.

The Hanged Man often refers to delays and sacrifices. When it does, you can bet they’re necessary. Trust that there’s a reason — even if it’s not readily apparent. You may have been running at a break-neck pace, never stopping to look at what you’ve accomplished. Or you may have found yourself losing steam over a project that just hasn’t panned out.

Either way, it may be time to put things on hold — at least long enough to evaluate your commitment. Think about the areas in your own life that have taken longer than expected to manifest. There may be a perfectly reasonable explanation, or it may be that there’s still work to be done. Either way you can rest assured that the reasons will become clear to you in time.
