Ace of Cups

Ace of Cups

Mars moves into Pisces today, bring us all a little closer to our emotions and perhaps a little more compassionate, receptive and intuitive — all Piscean keywords.

The Ace of Cups — from the Shadowscapes Tarot depicts this energy beautifully. You can see ripples emanating from the base of the chalice that rests at the bottom of the card.

Waves of movement and energy flow from the mouth of the chalice as well, as small schools of fish and fairies swim along in the currents.

The Ace of Cups is a card of emotional abundance and fulfillment. It’s “love” in its purest form: the compassionate, unconditional, all-encompassing form of love that is the essence of the Pisces archetype.

Mars moving into Pisces speaks of making bold strides toward immersing yourself into these realms. There’s a pull toward increased creativity, inspiration and intuition as well.

If there’s a downside to this energy, it’s the tendency to lack motivation and purpose. Too much “going with the flow” can see you being carried aimlessly along with life’s currents.

You want to keep this is mind today when it comes to making decisions and asserting your needs to others. This is a time of giving and receiving: and you can derive as much pleasure through giving as you can through expressing gratitude for all that you receive.

The Ace of Cups represents a bottomless and reflective pool of love, compassion and emotional expression. You want to open your heart and let that love flow both from you and to you — while at the same time keeping your boundaries clearly defined.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jan 3, 2015 — Five of Swords

Five of Swords

Five of Swords

The Sun conjuncts Pluto and squares Uranus today. This is a powerful and intense aspect that can also be incredibly combative.

It can manifest as unpleasant dealings with others — a bully on the job, a loved one who won’t make concessions or admit to being wrong, a “friend” who refuses to take no for an answer, and so on. The possible scenarios are endless but they all have the same theme in common.

Power struggles. A battle of wills. A sense of powerlessness over external (and often oppressive) forces. Being forced to admit defeat.

The Five of Swords — as in this version from the original Mythic Tarot — represents this energy in the story of Orestes and his dealings with the god Apollo as he’s told that he must avenge his father’s death.

He has two choices — to either abide by Apollo’s demands (thus committing matricide and angering the furies) or refuse his obligation and risk Apollo’s wrath. It’s a no win situation, and that’s precisely the predicament to which the Five of Swords refers.

It’s called “Defeat” in some decks, referring to the limitations and obstacles that may seem impossible to overcome.

While you may feel that the odds are stacked against you today, or that everyone  and everything is conspiring against you, you would do well to see the Five of Swords as a test of character. You may not be able to control what happens to you, but how you respond is entirely in your hands.

If you’re forced to accept defeat, you can do so with honor and integrity. As Venus is also entering Aquarius today, the potential for finding a graceful solution to your conflicts is not entirely out of reach.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jan 2, 2015 — The Sun

the Sun

The Sun

It’s a good day to be alive! With the Sun in your face and the Wind in your hair you may be feeling a renewed sense of vitality, enthusiasm and anticipation for the path that’s laid out before you.

The Sun card refers to a period where things seem to be going well for you — or maybe it’s just that your attitude has you focusing on what’s right in the world for a change.

You’re optimistic about the future: perhaps you’ve made New Years resolutions that you expect to keep this time around. Or you could be doing better financially, feeling better about your health, or seeing your relationship in a new light.

In this version of the card, we see young boy riding bareback through a field of sunflowers. The Sun shines brightly in the sky while the horse trots along with a steady gate. A field of sunflowers lines the path beside him, each stretching up to bathe in the Sun’s light.

He’s clearly in his element here. So comfortable is he on the back of his horse that he doesn’t even need a saddle or reins (or shoes for that matter). His hat is long gone.

This is one of the best versions of the Sun card ever. You can just feel his exuberance and you know he’s on the right path.

Along with the happy, fearless and adventurous energy in this card, there’s also a childlike wonder and exuberance. Keep this idea of “reinventing yourself” alive today and you can’t go wrong. The emphasis on freeing yourself from worldy burdens and concerns can go a long ways toward achieving your goals.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Dec 22, 2014 — The Journey

The Journey

The Wanderer

All good things come to pass and new things take their place.

With the Moon conjunct Pluto today there is a sense of transformation around and with these two planets it’s more than likely having a tad more than a bit to do with emotions.

This aspect denotes intense emotions. They type of emotions that you may try hard to get away from. They do not merely sway you they knock you off your feet.

Added to this Venus is squaring nodes so a sense of fate steps in today making situations more intense and once again Venus is linked to emotions so we have a volatile day for your love life. An emotional rollercoaster of emotions that you just can’t seem to get away from.

You may find thoughts going and around and around in your mind and you are picking over old bones in an effort to come up with answers.

This however may not be the best way to go about trying to fix things and as it is possibly time to look at yourself, where you stand and what you want.

Others will not be co operative today and you could find that who you once thought was a friend or lover has simply flown off leaving you to mull things over.

Decide what you want and what you are going to do about it. The card of the Wanderer in this tarot deck is more commonly referred to as the Death card in traditional decks.

The Death card is a card of change and transformation. What change can you make today that will transform your life tomorrow?

Three of Stones

Three of Stones

There is wisdom and then there is being wiser. As the Sun goes into Capricorn today we see Uranus turning direct.

This means that just as things start to get more practical and grounded for you Uranus comes in like lightening and could shake them all back up.

If there is anything that you have been trying to put into action lately today may be the day to do it on.

You have all the answers you need, you have all the resources you need and the only thing you perhaps need is a bit of a push in jumping off that ledge and doing it.

Uranus turning direct today will give you that push even if you want it or not.

Whatever you do decide to do today know that it comes from deep within you and if you look at the owls in this image you can see they are actually under the tree and form part of the tree’s root system.

Your own beliefs will also support and feed you today.

It is important to listen to any thoughts you are having as they will send you in the right direction and further fuel the fire inside you to get things done.

You might also want to keep in mind that if you hold back and don’t do what needs done then you may be forced into doing it kicking and screaming at some point in the future and if this is the case you will not hold as much power over your actions as you would if you made the decision yourself.

There is more than one way to watch a plan take action and the first step starts with wisdom.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Dec 18, 2014 — Four of Swords

Four of Swords

Four of Swords

Sometimes it doesn’t pay to do too much thinking about your problems and today is one of those days.

It seems that you may have cut yourself off from any actions you may have taken to fix a situation in your life and instead let it roam around and around in your mind to the point that you can no longer see the problem clearly enough to know how to tackle it.

What may have started as an average sized problem though has grown into a problem of such proportions that it leaves you frozen to any action you would like to take and hence your dilemma in what to do to fix it.

In the case of this image the problem looks as if it is linked to your love life. The roses scattered around both whole and in pieces that look to have been cut by the swords.

The woman’s arms are crossed given an indication that she is cold (or out in the cold due to her present situation) and she has not the forethought or inclination to dress appropriately.

If she were to look around her she would take the steps needed to protect herself from the elements. Such it is with the situation that you may find yourself in today.

You may not be forewarned or forearmed to defend yourself within it but you can take action to make sure you are well protected while you come up with a plan of dealing with it. And that plan needs to include putting more energy into your own life than wasting it worrying about other things.

While there is still one sword in your hand there is still a chance you can fix the wrongs that are around you with one masterful stroke of the right words.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Dec 17, 2014 — The Emperor

Emperor

The Emperor

Today with Mercury moving into Capricorn, it’s time to think about stepping up and into your rightful place in the world.

The Emperor card speaks of ambition, power, authority and worldly acclaim — all Saturnine traits.

You may feel like you’re on top of the world — like the Greek God Zeus as portrayed in this card. Or you may feel like it’s time to do something about getting there.

The Emperor (depicted by the Greek god Zeus in this deck) sits on his throne in the mountain tops looking down over all he’s achieved.

He holds the world in one hand and pair of lightning bolts in the other. An Eagle — symbolizing mastery and power — perches on his shoulder, his eyes alert and watchful.

This card symbolizes worldly acclaim and ambition. No matter how high your own personal mountain top, you can know that there are possibilities available to you if you only you set your sights on pursuing them.

Hard work, perseverance and determination are all required: nothing will come to you through sheer luck or wishful thinking.

As Mercury leaves Sagittarius (expansion, inspiration and preparation) behind and moves into the more serious and disciplined Capricorn, you should know that getting to the top of your own personal mountain is unlikely to be without challenges. But as long as you are one with the Universe, nothing can stand in your way.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Dec 12, 2014 — Balance

Balance

Balance

With Mercury in close contact with the Sun in Sagittarius today there is a need for balance and the possible need to reign in any actions that may get out of hand.

The dragons in this image are in perfect harmony and both balance the other perfectly like night and day. They arise from the base of the tree like kundalini energy illuminating what is around for you today.

Take note of the face underneath the tree. There is an ancient quality to this face which speaks of wisdom accumulated through life experiences and the ability to balance this wisdom in areas of your life without going overboard or holding back.

Mercury is also trining Jupiter today which while it gives you excellent communication skills it also may be that Jupiter throws this out of balance and more communicating is done than you first intended.

If this is the case or you feel as if you are going to say more than you wanted to then you need be clear in your own mind the parameters of any conversations otherwise you may put your foot in it which takes the balance of power from you in a situation and inadvertently gives it to the other person.

Remember there is wisdom around for you today. It is a wisdom that speaks of the past and what has gone before.

It is a wisdom that says you don’t need to act you can sit back planning and thinking your way through things. And if all else fails Jupiter is the planet of luck… so you can’t do much damage!

Free Daily Tarotscope — Dec 7, 2014 — The World

The World

The World

While some people are busy looking at the glass as half-empty, you’re seeing it as more than full. You’re focusing on how far you’ve come and how much you’ve achieved over the last several months

If you sit back and take stock of what has actually changed for you will get the sense that while some things change others stay the same and this is neither good nor bad.

Everything is as it should be for you to enter the next phase of your plans.

The journey that began with the Fool ends here with the “World,” and a sense of accomplishment, fulfillment and completion.

And just like the Fool, you’ve come full-circle, from instinct to essence to progress to development, as you end one cycle and embark on a new one.

This card represents endings and new beginnings. You must tie up loose ends and close the door on one chapter in your life — even if that leaves you with feelings of longing or regret.

You can see the tree in this card sitting on top of the world, encircling and embracing it. It grows upwards towards the heavens and the world just keeps on turning — just as we must grow and change with the natural rhythms of life.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Dec 4, 2014 — The Magician

The Magician

The Magician

Today you’ll be honing your skills and talents to perfection, so that they can be put to practical use.

And not just any skills at that because Mars moves into Aquarius today the skills you may be calling on could be a bit out of the ordinary for you but you will be hit with the thought to use them just the same. If you try doing so you may learn more than you imagined.

Although the Magician is full of lofty ideas and goals, they don’t amount to much if they can’t be brought down to earth and made manifest. This is your goal today: to take all you think and know and make it accessible to others in a useful way.

In this deck, Hermes — patron god of travelers, thieves, messengers and magicians — is depicted as the Magician, pointing upwards toward the heavens and downwards toward the earth.

The four elements (fire, earth, air and water) are at his feet, symbolizing the four suits of the tarot. It’s clear that he has all he needs right there at his disposal, if only he puts them to use.

You’ll want to set about accomplishing something tangible. Know that all of your resources are right there at your fingertips, and will only need to be accessed in order to create something “magic.”

Mars moving into Aquarius today gives you a spark for the creative where ideas may just come to you at the drop of a hat. Perhaps carrying a small notebook around would be a good idea so you can write them down.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 23, 2014 — Two of Wands

Two of Wands

Two of Wands

Today it’s going to be all about taking an idea (Ace of Wands) and turning it into a plan of action. The Two of Wands speaks of believing in yourself and your goals enough to take steps toward making something happen.

Mars squares Jupiter today which can make you feel invisible. This aspect is courageous and daring but it can also be a bit reckless. As with all Twos, you’ll have to find a way to balance these two dynamics.

In this version of the card we see Jason — from the Greek myth Jason and the Argonauts — preparing to take the first steps toward reclaiming his birthright.

As with all Twos, this is just one part of a much larger and more complex set of goals. He doesn’t yet know where his journey will lead him, only that this first step requires both courage and initiative.

Here Jason stands just outside of Chiron’s cave, where he’s been raised since infancy. The Two wands are torches in this version, to be used for both protection and illumination.

Chiron is also going direct today. See him peering out from the shadows in his cave? This is a bittersweet moment for him. On the one hand he shares in Jason’s pride and enthusiasm for the journey he’s about to undertake; and on the other hand he knows he’ll miss and worry about him when he’s gone.

Chiron transits are similar in that they can help to clear and heal our emotional blockages (which is a good thing) all the while reminding us of how we acquired them in the first place (not such a good thing).

Chiron turning direct today can help us all become wiser and more aware of the synergy between that which has wounded us and that which brings us insight and clarity. Just as Chiron emerges from his cave to watch Jason set off on his grand adventure, we must all also be willing to make sacrifices for the greater good.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 16, 2014 — The Wanderer

The Wanderer

The Wanderer

Venus enters Sagittarius today, bringing with it the potential for a renewed love (Venus) of travel, adventure and personal expansion (Sagittarius).

The Wanderer card (the Fool, in traditional decks) fits in beautifully with this dynamic, as it relates to being open to new experiences without regard for where they may ultimately lead.

Here we see a young woman striding toward the edge of a cliff, barefoot and unburdened by material possessions. Her arms are wide open and her gait is purposeful, even knowing that the path before her is partially obscured by clouds.

There’s a waterfall on the other side and a shimmering rainbow bridge leading to it, but if you look closely you can also see the rocky terrain far below.

A fall would be treacherous but somehow you know she’s not going to fall. Her faith and her optimism and her willingness to seize the day will see her safely to the other side.

This is the essence of the Wanderer card — and Venus in Sagittarius. It’s about taking a leap of faith and being open to going wherever the moment takes you.

At the same time, Neptune turns direct today. This Neptunian energy is reflected here in the clouds that obscure the Wanderer’s path. It’s also reflected in the concept of surrender (a Neptune key-word) that is a necessary part of taking that leap of faith.

You want to think about these concepts, especially as they apply to opportunities that present themselves to you today. It’s not the time to fret about details or focus on what could possibly go wrong.

You do want to keep your wits about you, and unlike the woman in this card you do want to watch your step. But immersing yourself fully in the journey — rather than thinking too hard or focusing too much on the destination — can open up a whole new world of possibilities for you that you won’t want to miss.
