Free Daily Tarotscope — Dec 28, 2015 — Nine of Cups

Nine of Cups

Nine of Cups

Mercury trines the North Node today and sextiles the South Node. This transit is all about making meaningful connections — with the people that you love as well as with yourself.

Think about what makes you truly happy and chances are good it’s the simple things in life. Home, family, friends, health, material comforts and peace of mind. If you’re not where you want to be just yet, think of ways to change that.

The Nine of Cups — this version from the Star Tarot — is about manifesting your heart’s desires. Nothing is taken for granted and nothing is left to chance. It’s about aligning yourself with the Universal laws of attraction and getting what you deserve.

The Cups in this card are all overflowing. They’re filled with love, gratitude and abundance, which are endlessly intertwined. They’re filled with hopes, dreams and miracles which are yours for the taking.

The Nine of Cups is a card of satisfaction, fulfillment and contentment. It speaks of being more than just satisfied with your lot in life, but also feeling truly blessed and grateful with where you are.

This card is called “Happiness” in some decks and the “Wish card” in others. But those aren’t always the same thing. So be careful what you wish for as it may or may not bring you happiness.

Take some time to think about what you really want today — and don’t forget to be grateful for what you already have. There’s an intricate balance between gratitude and personal fulfillment, so make sure you’re putting enough energy and effort into both.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Dec 4, 2015 — Ten of Wands

Ten of Wands

Ten of Wands

You may have to muster up the strength, determination and fortitude today to do what must be done, even if the task before you seems daunting and overwhelming.

The Ten of Wands — this version from the stunning Mary-el Tarot — is all about rising to the occasion and taking care of business, no matter how difficult or arduous that may be. It’s about stepping up to the plate and shouldering responsibilities — or like the figure in this card, moving through hell or high water to get the job done.

What would happen if the man and his horse were to slow down or stop in their tracks? They’d be consumed by the flames that are already engulfing them. They’d perish on the spot.

The idea here seems to be that once the task is started there’s no turning back. The rider pledges his commitment (notice his hand held over his heart) and the horse gathers speed.

He may have taken on more than one man can reasonably expect to accomplish, but he’s not going to throw in the towel. And this is the essence of the Ten of Wands. Upholding your responsibilities may be more than you bargained for, but that doesn’t excuse you from doing them.

You may be overwhelmed with all that’s laid out before you today. And you may be wondering whether you even have it in you to keep on going. But as you can see from this card there’s no turning back. There are obligations and responsibilities to uphold as well as people who depend on you who’d likely be hurt by your neglect. The question you might want to ask yourself today is this: “Is life (or love) supposed to be this hard?” The value of whatever it is that’s taxed you to your limits probably needs to be reassessed.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Oct 23, 2015 — Page of Cups

Page of Cups

Page of Cups

Today is a day of getting in touch with your feelings and working on processing your emotions.

The Sun moves into Scorpio today, just as the Moon moves into Pisces and Venus trines Pluto. With all this watery emotional energy, is it any wonder you’re feeling self-conscious or maybe even a little shy?

These transits fit in beautifully with this version of the Page of Cups —  from the Mary-el Tarot — and the intricate fish and water symbols etched on the Page’s skin.

You may be feeling overly sentimental or self-protective today. Or like the Page in this card you may feel like keeping your feelings to yourself. The Page of Cups is gentle and tender-hearted, but can have difficulty expressing emotions.

Although the pale blues in the background of this card are linked to the throat chakra and the concept of expressing ideas, you may be feeling so sensitive and vulnerable that you have trouble putting your feelings into words.

It may be preferable for you to think about ways to tap into your own rich inner world today, rather than reaching out to others for comfort.

The soft hues in this card and the gentle energy exhibited by the Page are also reminiscent of healing, purity, and a soothing calm energy that you can access to restore peace and harmony. Take some time today to bring these images to life and hear what they have to say.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 18, 2015 — Prince of Wands

Prince of Pentacles

Prince of Wands

If there is something you have been aiming for and not sure how to accomplish it then this is the time to jump in with both feet and just go for it!

The Prince of Wands — this version from Kathy McClelland’s Star Tarot — implies that you have many changes coming your way and you are not afraid to reach out and grab them. There are tools around for you to use that facilitate the journey you take to bring about these changes.

The Unicorn in this card and the background it runs in front of suggests that for a while now you have not been sure what to do but you have never given up knowing that you are going to do something big.

Suddenly, the answers have come to you and your joy is written across your face for everyone to see. Nothing will hold you back; if anyone tries they’ll have more to contend with than they realise.

Your hopes, dreams and wishes are coming from your heart today. You have the strength to see them through and the resources to back you up.

You may need some further tweaking to your plan but rest assured it is a good plan and as it begins it will quickly come together as if nothing can hold it back. Its time to come out of the darkness and spread your message across to all around you. You know exactly what you want and how to get it.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jul 30, 2015 — Seven of Pentacles

Seven of Pentacles

Seven of Pentacles

You may find yourself at a professional crossroads today, feeling torn between following your dreams and doing what’s already proven itself to be safe and secure.

The Seven of Pentacles — like all Sevens — represents choices and dilemmas. With respect to your work or business, it can translate to feeling like you’re missing our on something by doing what you do really well but that your heart just isn’t into.

Mercury inconjuncts Pluto today, bringing with it the potential for temptations to turn into full-fledged compulsions and obsessions.

Sometimes we have to make sacrifices (also a hallmark of the tarot’s Seven cards). We can give up our job security in order to pursue our dreams; or we can give up our dreams in order to maintain our job security. It’s a catch-22.

The woman in this card — from Cathy McClelland’s fantastic Star Tarot — is faced just such a dilemma. She can’t decide whether she wants to throw herself fully into her work — which she’s already invested energy in and which is also already clearly producing results — or whether she wants to move in a completely different direction.

The colorful horses galloping across the sky seem to be calling out to her to follow. These are her dreams and aspirations, none yet fully formed. There are Seven of them — just as there are Seven Pentacles and Seven butterflies, all representing different choices and opportunities.

You’ll have to think about what is most important to you today as the Seven of Pentacles is a card of priorities as well as choices. Ideally you’ll find a way to turn what you dream of doing and what you are doing into one and the same. This is all any of us can hope for in the end.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jul 10, 2015 — Eight of Cups

Eight of Cups

Eight of Cups

While you may be feeling somewhat self-protective today, it’s going to be important to let go of your fears and allow yourself to trust that the Universe has your best interests at heart.

This version of the Eight of Cups — from Marie White’s Mary-el Tarot — has a very different take on what is traditionally seen as walking away or leaving behind something (or someone) that no longer serves you.

There’s also sense of moving toward something with the Eight of Cups. Moving toward a place of personal gratification, even if that journey begins with a heavy heart.

But in this version the emphasis is more on opening your heart and allowing yourself to become aligned with the potential of something more relevant and more fulfilling being in store for you in the end.

Here a small child is almost completely enveloped in a cocoon that has been fashioned by the pelt of a lion, which he draws close to him for comfort and protection.

He’s empowered by his garment, the same way that Hercules was once empowered by his.

Marie says this is due to his natural ability to view the world without bitterness. He possesses both the strength of a lion and the innocence of a child, because he’s kept his heart open and his fears at bay. Notice the 6-pointed star of Ishtar on his wrist. This symbol is identified with Venus (the goddess and the planet) which is associated with purity, beauty and love.

No matter how painful the idea of walking away from something might be, consider that same scenario from the perspective of walking toward something instead. Take some time today to wrap yourself in all that Venus energy, and allow yourself to become a more active participant in where your journey leads.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 28, 2015 — Five of Cups

Five of Cups

Five of Cups

You may be experiencing feelings of loneliness and isolation today and if so you might want to ask yourself whether you’re seeing the full picture.

The Five of Cups is often tied to feelings of disappointment and regret. You may be feeling shut out at time when you most needed to be let in; rejected at a time when you most wanted to feel included.

There may be some anger here as well, as in feeling duped in some way or betrayed. But in this version — from Cathy McClelland’s gorgeous Star Tarot —  the emphasis is more on what has been lost than on what can be gained.

The woman in this card focuses on the three cups spilled at her feet rather than the two that are still left and are overflowing with symbols of happiness and joy.

She can’t even see them as she’s so busy protecting herself from the elements (the rain and storm clouds brewing behind her) and focusing on what she’s lost.

A New Day is dawning right behind her and all she has to do to see it is look up. There are butterflies following the path of a rainbow, which separates the night from the day.  There are new experiences to be had — including new social opportunities (the butterflies) — and hope for the future (the rainbow), as well as the potential for seeing things in a whole new light (the Sunrise).

While it may be necessary to take the time to properly mourn a loss, keep in mind that this never means your chance at happiness is over. The Five of Cups may force you to acknowledge a loss, but it also opens the door to new beginnings as long as you are willing to look up.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 17, 2015 — Six of Wands

Six of Wands

Six of Wands

Your heart soars as you race to victory on the wings of your own current good sense and ability to see the larger picture.

Is there something you have been aiming for that has possibly seemed out of reach? If so, this is the month to reach out, grab it and make it your own.

There is a sense of a deeper meaning to your quest as the circular images within the sunflowers show you that even as you think you are at the end of something you may actually be on the verge of something else.

You may not know where it will take you but what you do know is that it is for your greater good and that there is a fair degree of growth attached to it. Intellectually you are soaring.

This is a good day to put your head down and study or if you have written work to complete now is the time to do so.  The path you are on is about to take you on a leap possibly beyond your wildest dreams and you should be aiming high as that star is easily within your reach.

Speaking of dreams… you may find that if you sit down and do a bit of day dreaming your goal will come to you sooner especially as your heart is attached to what you desire. This is a great time to do some manifesting when it comes to your love life.

The object of your affection looks to be new to your life and also seems to be linked to a wish you have made. Best sit down with that pen and paper and make a list of what you do want… and while you’re at it keep your thoughts away from what you don’t want.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 17, 2015 — Queen of Pentacles

Queen of Pentacles

Queen of Pentacles

You want to be thinking today about what you truly value — which may or may not relate to money and material possessions.

The Queen of Pentacles is often associated with money. She represents a strong, practical and efficient individual who is grounded in the material world and who understands the value of a dollar.

But the Queen of Pentacles isn’t always tied to money. And in this version of the card — from the Secret Language of Birds Tarot — she’s portrayed as 60’s sex-kitten Brigitte Bardot, who gave up a career in Hollywood (and the financial security that came with it) in exchange for something that mattered more to her.

For the past forty-plus years she’s devoted her life to animal rights endeavors, funding her activism by selling off her own clothing and jewelry. This is such a good example of the Queen of Pentacles energy, as it illustrates to concept of putting resources (valuables) to work and gaining something far more valuable in the end.

This Queen of Pentacles is usually tied to both Venus and Earth signs — or more specifically Venus-ruled Taurus. But Venus also rules Libra which is Brigitte Bardot’s Sun sign as well as the constellation on this card.

The Sun face on the medallion that hangs from her neck and the stars imprinted on her shirt remind us that we all have a place in the Universe. The wren totems on the card are tied to resourcefulness and efficiency, which are also features of this archetype.

The Queen of Pentacles needs to be grounded. And she needs to feel that she’s contributing to her future and her financial security. But she also knows that there is so much more to life than wealth and success. You can work and earn and save to your heart’s content, but unless you can find a meaningful outlet for it, you’ll never be fulfilled.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 9, 2015 — Seven of Swords

Seven of Swords

Seven of Swords

The question you’re going to have to ask yourself today — with Mercury squaring Neptune — is how much are you willing to give up to attain what you desire?

The Seven of Swords — like all Sevens — requires you to evaluate all the different sides of a complicated situation, and arrive at a solution that causes the least amount of distress.

It can refer to a moral dilemma or one with no easy answer, such as a decision that favors head over heart.

This is a tricky card that relates to an equally tricky dilemma. Do you risk letting go of the thing you treasure most just to save your neck? Or do you hold on for dear life, knowing that what you lose may be a far greater sacrifice in the end?

The imagery in this card — from the beautiful The Mary-el Tarot portrays this quandary perfectly. See how the Raven holds onto the jewel — risking being devour by the serpent. Does he let go of his treasure in order to save his life? or does he hold on for dear life and risk losing everything?

Traditional interpretations of this card speak of cunning, duplicity and deception. And there is some of that here. The Serpent could have easily coiled himself around the raven and tightened his grip already, but he takes his time taunting him with his hypnotic gaze.

Today’s Mercury square Neptune aspect can cloud your thoughts and cause you to be struggle with indecision. It can make harder to know what you really want, and how far you’re willing to go to hold onto to it. It can force you to have to “choose” even if that means having to choose the lesser of two evils.

Just as the snake encircles the raven and systematically tightens his grip, so must you weigh the consequences of holding too tightly to what you value, especially if it means giving up something far more precious.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 15, 2015 — Three of Swords

Three of Swords

Three of Swords

Today — with the planet of love (Venus) in opposition to the planet of obstacles, restrictions and life lessons (Saturn) — you may be confronted with some painful realities about the state of your relationships.

You may be disappointed by a loved one’s actions or feeling dejected about their lack of attention. Or you may be healing from a recent breakup.

If you’re single, you may be looking back at some of your past connections and seeing where things haven’t ended the way you wanted. Either way it’s going to be about conceding some loss and heartache that has to be dealt with before you can move forward.

The Three of Swords is often associated with emotional disharmony, heartache and separation. And you could be dealing with the fallout from all of these things. But keep in mind that disharmony is usually rooted in misunderstanding, or at the very least a misassumption about your role in someone else’s life.

Look at how the “teardrops” that fall from the storm clouds turn into bright twinkling stars before they hit the ground.

And notice the angels swooping in to comfort the grieving woman — if only she’d open her eyes. Could it be that there’s not only a silver lining to those storm clouds but also a saving grace?

Yes the Three of Swords is painful. The Swords that are shattering the heart are cold and relentless. The tears the woman cries are real. But it can be said that the swords breaking through the heart represent a necessary separation. A need to “cut through” that which is no longer serving you, in the spirit of making room for what does.

The Three of Swords doesn’t have to mean an ending. But it does refer to a lancing and releasing of whatever needs to released. If there is something (or someone) you’ve been struggling to let go of, now is the time to make the effort to do so. It’s the severing of all that’s been holding you back that will permit you to finally start moving forward again.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Mar 25, 2015 — The Emperor

The Emperor

The Emperor

Today’s Sun / Saturn trine can make what’s seemed like hard work in the past now feel almost effortless. What better way to use this energy than to channel it into something productive and success-oriented?

The Emperor card is all about stepping up to the plate and assuming a position of authority. It’s about striving for personal and professional success. And it’s about wielding your personal power in a fair and just manner.

The Emperor in this version — from Cathy McClelland’s gorgeous Star Tarot — is seated on a throne beneath a Sun / Moon / Star formation. The Sun and Moon are involved in an eclipse pattern, with the Morning star Venus shining between them. The white and black stallions on either side represent both masculine and feminine energy, and the lion cub illustrates his ability to soothe and guide those who look up to him for leadership.

The dragon slumbering beneath his feet represents the four elements as well as the spiritual power he possesses. The Emperor is the 4th card, and the references to the number four are repeated throughout the imagery of this card.

The four elements as stated above, but also the four seasons, the four directions and four phases of the moon and four geometric shapes — circle, square, triangle and line — are also all referenced here.

The message behind this card is one of taking care of business. It’s not the time to be passive or wishy-washy. It’s all about stepping up and taking control of a situation that requires a firm hand and authoritative presence.

Whether you are a parent doling out “tough love” or a supervisor having to strong arm an employee or just taking back your power in a personal relationship, remember it’s important to temper that with kindness and compassion. Just like the wise old Emperor in this card, a protective gentle approach is just as important as a firm steady hand.
