As Mercury enters Sagittarius today you may feel a sense of freedom with your thoughts and words. Sometimes this is good and other times it is a bit risky… especially if you don’t think before you speak.

From the image on this card you can see that there is the distinct risk that you may say something without curtailing the way it comes out of your mouth.

Even though the bird’s beak is closed the flames that lick around the feathers show there is energy that is trapped within… and energy has to go somewhere unless you are very good at dissipating it.

The tree stump suggests that the issue you are wishing to speak on has no end in sight or that the matter is a closed as far as others are concerned. Nevertheless, it seems you are keeping an eye on when you can bring it up again.

Just as the sun rises this matter has not been put to rest in your mind or thoughts.

If you are expecting news today may be the day you receive it. It is a great day to pick up your thoughts and start to feed some positivity in your life.

Learning something new may take on a new meaning for you today and if you have any feelers to put out there on a course you are interested in then the rolling hills that you are surveying from high up will show you, if any, problems you may encounter.

It doesn’t look as if you will though as you are sitting pretty high above the petty, mundane problems of everyday life today and are ready to launch yourself into something new and exciting.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 26, 2014 — The Hierophant

The Hierophant

The Hierophant

Today — with Mercury conjuncting Saturn — you could be taking a more serious look at what you believe in and how you communicate those beliefs to others.

The Hierophant card speaks of pursuing knowledge, studying tradition, reflecting on Universal laws and principles and deciding where we stand.

The Hierophant is referred to as the Pope in some decks. But it’s not only about religion. It’s about carrying the wisdom of the ancients forward. as a means of gaining a greater understanding for yourself and using it to guide others.

The  Hierophant in this card is in deep thought and reflection. He’s not only in search of deeper knowledge, he’s prepared to impart it to others. One hand is raised in the classic benediction or blessing mudra while the other is used to calm the fish on which he glides.

The triple cross staff is associated with the Pope and papal authority. Keys unlocked doors (to mystery, the occult and sacred teachings) and are also said to be the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Fish are a traditional symbols of faith in many religions, and are also tied to wisdom, prophecy and the collective unconscious. The overlapping trees remind us that time stretches out before us as well as behind us, and that we’re as much a part of creating history as we are a product of it.

You could be immersing yourself in your studies today or making plans to embark on a spiritual journey. You may also be called upon present your ideas to others — either formally or informally.

If you find yourself having to defend your views, do it in a calm, practical manner. Mercury / Saturn is not about being radical or fanatical. It’s about building on the conventions of those who’ve come before you (Saturn) and presenting your ideas (Mercury) with clarity and precision.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 25, 2014 — Four of Pentacles

Four of Pentacles

Four of Pentacles

Today you want to think about what it is you might be holding onto too tightly, and more importantly why.

The Four of Pentacles can refer to a hoarding mentality, a poverty consciousness and a resistance to change. All of these end up creating blockages in your life, where your fear of letting things go can prevent new things from coming in.

The cat in this card is not only protecting his territory (by sitting squarely on top of it), his ears are perked up and pulled back, a clear sign that he’s alert and guarded against any sign of danger.

The pictures on the front of the box tell you his treasures are well worth protecting — as any cat could tell you. There’s a pitcher of milk, a fish, a bird and a butterfly. But notice how the box is closed up so tightly that nothing else (a little field mouse perhaps?) could possibly get in.

Notice the landscape behind him. There’s a great big old world out there and what cat doesn’t like to explore? But this one can’t — he’s stuck where he is because he can’t run the risk of leaving his hoard unattended.

In this regard the Four of Pentacles is also about trust — or the lack of trust more specifically. The implication is that someone could take something from you (something you’ve ascribed a false sense of value to), which prompts you to hold on even more tightly (or hide it away).

With this in mind your challenge today will be to loosen up the reins a bit. Let the darkness (avarice, hoarding) out so you can let you some light (enlightenment, prosperity) in. Think about sharing what you have with others, or giving something back.

Remember that the Universe does not appreciate a vacuum. All that you’re willing to let go of now will be replenished with something new in the end. And news flash: that’s not just money and material possessions. It also applies to negative thought processes, dysfunctional relationships and outdated ideals.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 24, 2014 — Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

It’s time to reach for the sky and channel your thoughts toward where you wish for them to go.

The image on this card shows you have both feet planted firmly on the ground and are awash with new learning and ways to put it forth into your own world.

You stand in a bubble of your own making and are not concerned or worried about what is going on around you.

The world could shake or break but just as long as you are within your own world you feel safe and protected.

If there is anything around for you today where you feel the need to just block everything out and get on with your own thing then you have the capacity to do so.

This card shows that things can change suddenly.

There could be news coming to you and it will not make any difference to you if the news is positive or negative because you will stand firm and take everything with a pinch of salt and in your own stride.

Nothing will sway you as you have inner strength and inner knowing as to what you are going to do next.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 23, 2014 — Two of Wands

Two of Wands

Two of Wands

Today it’s going to be all about taking an idea (Ace of Wands) and turning it into a plan of action. The Two of Wands speaks of believing in yourself and your goals enough to take steps toward making something happen.

Mars squares Jupiter today which can make you feel invisible. This aspect is courageous and daring but it can also be a bit reckless. As with all Twos, you’ll have to find a way to balance these two dynamics.

In this version of the card we see Jason — from the Greek myth Jason and the Argonauts — preparing to take the first steps toward reclaiming his birthright.

As with all Twos, this is just one part of a much larger and more complex set of goals. He doesn’t yet know where his journey will lead him, only that this first step requires both courage and initiative.

Here Jason stands just outside of Chiron’s cave, where he’s been raised since infancy. The Two wands are torches in this version, to be used for both protection and illumination.

Chiron is also going direct today. See him peering out from the shadows in his cave? This is a bittersweet moment for him. On the one hand he shares in Jason’s pride and enthusiasm for the journey he’s about to undertake; and on the other hand he knows he’ll miss and worry about him when he’s gone.

Chiron transits are similar in that they can help to clear and heal our emotional blockages (which is a good thing) all the while reminding us of how we acquired them in the first place (not such a good thing).

Chiron turning direct today can help us all become wiser and more aware of the synergy between that which has wounded us and that which brings us insight and clarity. Just as Chiron emerges from his cave to watch Jason set off on his grand adventure, we must all also be willing to make sacrifices for the greater good.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 22, 2014 — the Moon

Moon

the Moon

Today’s New Moon is at 0° Sagittarius. It marks the culmination of the lunar cycle, from new to full and then back again. But this particular New Moon’s theme is repeated, with both the Sun and Moon moving into a new sign (Sagittarius) at the same time.

The November Full Moon is known as the “Beaver Moon,” and while we see a rabbit in this version (rather than a beaver), it’s also called the  “Full Frost Moon” which is depicted beautifully in this card.

So is the juxtaposition between new (zero degrees) and full (the last full Moon, on November 6th), in the reflected imagery of this card. The Full Moon sits high in the sky, while the New Moon is transposed below and reflected in the icy sheen of the frozen stream.

If you look closely you’ll see that everything reflected in the stream is slightly different than it’s literal version. The Full and New Moons are obvious. But the rabbit’s reflection is inverted and the constellations around the moon become ripples in the stream. Even the stars in the night sky look like swirling snowflakes in the stream’s reflection.

This ties in to one of the main differences between the astrological Sun and Moon. In keeping with the Hermetic principles of “As above, so below; as within so without,” we understand that the Moon reflects the Sun’s light and thus represents the internal aspects of our psyches.

Traditional interpretations of the Moon card include things like confusion, doubt and uncertainty. And while some of that may be reflected here — with the paradoxical inverted reflections — there’s also a lot of clarity here. The night is crisp, the stars are bright and the rabbit is fully engaged in getting a closer look at that New Moon.

With that in mind, today is not only a  good day to think about fresh ideas, initiating projects and New (Moon) beginnings, but also good for exploring and embracing your rich inner world.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 21, 2014 — Six of Flames

Six of Flames

Six of Flames

Today you may find yourself up against an opponent, or dealing with someone whose fury and aggression feels like an outright attack.

This could be a relationship partner, a co-worker or even a complete stranger who is so consumed with rage that he or she lashes out with little or no provocation.

Fortunately for you the tools for dealing with this kind of bully are right there at your disposal. With Mercury and Mars in sextile today, you should be clear-headed and quick-thinking enough to steer your way clear of any danger.

The Six of Flames — from the Dante Tarot — is this deck’s version of the Six of Swords. But this is not your typical dime-store Six of Swords. In fact most of the symbolism for cards in this deck — intuitive or otherwise — veers dramatically from standard Rider-Waite interpretations.

This version is far more aggressive, and far more threatening, although — as with traditional interpretations — some things are cleared up and some are resolved.

The central figure in this card is a three-headed hellhound, the famed mythical Cerberus or guard dog of the Underworld. He looms over the cowering sinners in the foreground, keeping them at bay. Notice that the sky behind the clouds at the top of the card is also black.

In the story-line from the Divine Comedy that this card references, Dante is able to get answers to some of the questions he can’t get in the living world. They’re not all answers he’s happy to hear. But they do provide him with insight and clarity.

There’s also an act of ingenuity (Mercury sextile Mars) wherein Dante and his companion slip past the beast by distracting it with mud.

If you find yourself at odds with someone today ask yourself whether you’re the aggressor or the victim and what you can do to balance that energy out. The Mars / Mercury aspect says you have to use your head (Mercury) but it also serves as a reminder that you need to stand up and face your challengers (Mars) rather than allowing them to back you down.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 20, 2014 — Seven of Tulips

Seven of Tulips

Seven of Tulips

If you aren’t careful with what you are doing today you may just inadvertently make a huge mistake.

If you have papers to sign, contracts to read over, etc make sure you do so twice and don’t sign anything that you don’t understand.

The Seven of Tulips can be a card of confusion. It can also show that you are away with the fairies somewhat and not completely grounded. This is in keeping with today’s Venus / Neptune square, which can turn wishful thinking into later regrets.

Here we see a cute little rabbit picking pink tulips whilst at the same time not looking at what she is doing and also looking for all the world as if she has her head in the clouds (literally).

The best that can be said is that if there is a middle ground or middle of the road stance for you to take on something today then do it. Don’t rock the boat and don’t go pushing into any arguments that you don’t have any right to be in.

If someone is rocking your boat do not let them goad you. Be on the lookout for the wool being pulled over your eyes too as you may be on the receiving end of a trick or two or from someone who is trying to get the better of you.

If you have a chance today to put your feet up and relax it is a great day to let your imagination soar. You can get through quite a lot by just sitting back and not focussing too hard on any one thing.

Remember today is not a day about “doing” it is a day about doing nothing and at the same time allowing others to not take advantage of you.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 19, 2014 — Nine of Wands

Nine of Wands

Nine of Wands

Today you may be feeling like you’ve given something (or someone) your all and are now *this close* to throwing in the towel.

The Nine of Wands speaks of being on the verge of exhaustion over something you’ve put so much effort into and still haven’t seen the results you’d hoped for.

You may see some sort of resolution in sight, but it’s still a ways off which means even more obstacles and more work than you’re sure you want to trouble with.

So the question becomes what do you do? Do you throw your arms in the air and say I don’t think I can take it anymore? If so you give up all the work you’ve already done and all the momentum you’ve gained.

But if not it means you’re going to have to reach in, dig deep and find the strength, tenacity and fortitude to tackle those final hurdles and keep on going.

The masked figure in this version of the card looks like he’s all but given up. He sits pouting on a ledge in what appears to be a 3-dimensional maze. The staircase beside him threatens to block his every step. But look: there’s another set of stairs and a light glowing in the distance: could it be he’s found the escape route?

The eight wands leading up the first staircase may not be obstacles after all. They may be armholds. And the Ninth wand serves as a torch to both light his path and ignite his resolve.

This is the challenge you’re faced with today. You may be seeing that something you set off to accomplish is not only taken longer than you expected but has also turned into a bigger headache.

But you’re closer to the finish line than you know, and if you just keep going you’ll be rewarded with a sense of accomplishment in the end.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 18, 2014 — King of Pentacles

King of Pentacles

King of Pentacles

You can get down to business today and rest assured that you have both feet planted firmly on the ground with any plan you come up with.

There is a wealth of ideas around for you and despite today’s transit of Saturn conjunct the Sun you find yourself finally receiving that push in the right direction that you have been hoping for.

With Saturn conjuncting the Sun there is the capacity for hard work and a long term plan to get there but there is also the capacity for a bit of negative thinking.

Thoughts that you may not be good enough to reach your goal need to be put into the back of your mind or better yet thrown out of your head altogether.

Mars is also squaring the nodes today which means you may feel some tension as to what you want and the means of getting there together with a sense of fate in that this is what you were meant to be doing. Once again do not be put off with negatives and find a way to turn them into positives.

The King of Pentacles is a great card to have alongside these planetary transits as it forces you to make practical negotiations both with yourself and others when putting your thoughts, plans and ideas into solid action.

You will have the capacity to back up what you want and also the means by which to achieve it.

Do not worry that you are aiming too high for as you can see this King’s feet are planted firmly on the ground almost like tree trunks and the white collar surrounding his neck speaks of purity of thought and heart. Seems like nothing will stop you today!

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 17, 2014 — Four of Swords

Four of Swords

Four of Swords

All things being balanced and even then I guess you have a decision to make.

The way forward for you today may not be as easy as you would like it to be. Both paths look equally appealing and both paths come with different dilemmas.

What will you do next? How will you do it? What will the repercussions of one decision be over another?

All these questions and more will need to be answered today for you to be able to get out of being stuck and confused and left starting at yourself (or selves) in the mirror.

Perhaps you are looking at your dilemma in the wrong way as it seems that whatever you do you come back to face your “self”.

Try stepping out of thinking of the impact of any decisions and choices you make today only affecting you and try weighting up what it may mean for other people.

You may find your way out of the never ending loop of thoughts which seem to be filling not only your consciousness but also your unconscious thoughts including your hopes, dreams and fears.

You certainly have the energy to get what you want but you are holding back for some reason and playing things around in your mind a little more than you need to.

There is a sense of right and wrong, angels and devils in this image…. which one are you and does it make you right or wrong?

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 16, 2014 — The Wanderer

The Wanderer

The Wanderer

Venus enters Sagittarius today, bringing with it the potential for a renewed love (Venus) of travel, adventure and personal expansion (Sagittarius).

The Wanderer card (the Fool, in traditional decks) fits in beautifully with this dynamic, as it relates to being open to new experiences without regard for where they may ultimately lead.

Here we see a young woman striding toward the edge of a cliff, barefoot and unburdened by material possessions. Her arms are wide open and her gait is purposeful, even knowing that the path before her is partially obscured by clouds.

There’s a waterfall on the other side and a shimmering rainbow bridge leading to it, but if you look closely you can also see the rocky terrain far below.

A fall would be treacherous but somehow you know she’s not going to fall. Her faith and her optimism and her willingness to seize the day will see her safely to the other side.

This is the essence of the Wanderer card — and Venus in Sagittarius. It’s about taking a leap of faith and being open to going wherever the moment takes you.

At the same time, Neptune turns direct today. This Neptunian energy is reflected here in the clouds that obscure the Wanderer’s path. It’s also reflected in the concept of surrender (a Neptune key-word) that is a necessary part of taking that leap of faith.

You want to think about these concepts, especially as they apply to opportunities that present themselves to you today. It’s not the time to fret about details or focus on what could possibly go wrong.

You do want to keep your wits about you, and unlike the woman in this card you do want to watch your step. But immersing yourself fully in the journey — rather than thinking too hard or focusing too much on the destination — can open up a whole new world of possibilities for you that you won’t want to miss.
