Five of Wands

Aries: Five of Wands

With your ruling planet (Mars) involved in a tense aspect with Pluto from the start of this month, you may see your competitive drives being awakened — along with your fighting spirit — for better or worse.

This is a larger than life aspect that tends to magnify all the Martian impulses: anger, aggression, impatience and combativeness. It may see you acting without thinking or ignoring repercussions.

On the up side, this transit can increase your natural confidence and self-esteem. It can see you feeling invincible, to the extent that you’re willing to put yourself out there — letting nothing stand in your way. But on the downside it’s careless and potentially reckless — especially if you allow your ego to take charge.

The Five of Wands — this version for the beautiful Gypsy Palace Tarot — refers to conflict, strife and competition: forcing your will on others, trying to be heard above the “roar” of opposing viewpoints and struggling against cross-purposes.

You may have to look at where you may have been pushing your views forcefully onto others. You might not even realize that you’re doing it, yet your actions can translate as pressure, at at least on some subconscious level. Petty squabbles can erupt into major arguments because no one’s actually listening to what anyone else has to say.

The important thing to remember is that most disagreements are based on misunderstandings in the first place. The inability to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes –- coupled with the need to be heard — is behind almost every argument out there. And this combination can be a recipe for disaster.

Fortunately all this changes when Mars moves into Leo (on the 12th). In the meantime though, steer clear of incendiary topics (like politics and religion). Use this transit to your advantage, by choosing your battles wisely and in most cases choosing not to battle at all.

Temperance

Aries: Temperance

This month you are likely to be called upon to integrate opposing areas of your life into one big calm, peaceful and harmonious medium.

This may take the form of aligning yourself with higher spiritual realms, or it may be more about learning to surrender.

The Temperance card — this version from the Crystal Tarot — speaks of searching within yourself for that wellspring of inner grace and finding a way to bring the good and bad, light and dark, happy and sad back into balance.

The Temperance card is called “Art” in some decks. It speaks of the unique creative forces that each of us possess. It speaks of seeking out symmetry and harmony.

In what areas of your life are you too inflexible, too rigid and too unwilling to hear another’s point of view? Your challenge will be to overcome those impediments and to integrate the opposing forces in your life.

In this version of the card we see an angel standing in a field and pouring fluid from one vessel into another. The grass is green and abundant at her feet, the sky is clear and the Sun shines behind her. The rainbow that is usually seen in this card is actually a part of her in this version. In her gown, in her wings and in the landscape behind her.

Her demeanor is calm and peaceful — almost trance-like, as if she’s mesmerized by the process. This is the essence of this card: there’s a calm and graceful symmetry in taking one’s time, going with the flow, and becoming one with all that surrounds you.

This is going to be especially important for you this month, with the New Moon in your sign, as well as Mercury, Venus and Chiron at different times. And while you may be tempted to strike out on your own, you want to be mindful during this time of how your words, actions and decisions can

Wild Unknown Emperor

ARIES: The Emperor

With your ruler (Mars) exalted in Capricorn and conjuncting Saturn this month. You should be thinking more about taking charge of your life and achieving your goals and ambitions.

This is the Wild Unknown Tarot’s version of the Emperor card, in this case a stark and mighty tree stretching high into the heavens.

Notice the New Moon in this card too: it’s in your sign this month (on the 16th) conjunct Uranus, the planet known as the great awakener.

This card symbolizes worldly acclaim and ambition. No matter how high you want to climb, you can know that there are possibilities available to you if you only you set your sights on pursuing them.

You may be asking yourself whether you want to be a small fish in a big pond or a big fish in a small pond. It’s all about gaining perspective and establishing priorities.

As the Emperor also relates to the “Laws of the Land,” some of the less pleasant manifestations of this card include things like being on the receiving end of legal or professional disciplinary actions, dealings with the IRS or government, or having to deal with an oppressive boss or coworker.

The message behind this card is one of taking care of business. Hard work, perseverance and determination are all required: nothing will come to you through sheer luck or wishful thinking. It’s not the time to be passive or wishy-washy. It’s all about stepping up and taking control of a situation that requires a firm hand and authoritative presence.

Three of Wands

ARIES: Three of Wands

This month you may be bursting at the seams with all the passion and confidence that are needed to put your goals into place.

The Three of Wands — this version from Timothy Lantz’ Archeon Tarot — speaks of a renewed sense of purpose, clarity and motivation – the desire and willingness to “make something happen!”

You may already have a new project in the works, in which case you’re probably beginning to see the fruits of your labors pay off. Or you may be on the verge of launching a new project, and if that’s the case, there’s no better time than the present.

The Three of Wands embodies such a powerful life-force energy that it never permits itself to be “still.” It’s always improving.

Notice how the Pegasus in this deck is both watching over his shoulder (toward what has already been accomplished) and preparing to take flight. There’s a nobility also associated with this card, which is befitting the majestic stance of our winged friend.

You may have recently discovered your life’s purpose. Or you may just now be acting on aspirations that you were too afraid to reach for in the past. This card speaks of a new burst of inspiration, a second wind, and the confidence with which to see it through.

If you’re starting something new try to inject yourself fully into it, as from this point forward you’re going to have opportunities to expand your horizons. Whether that means through travel, enterprise, education or career, the Three of Wands tells you that now is the time to spread your wings and fly!

Tarot of the Zirkus Mägi -- Two of Buckets

ARIES: Two of Buckets

Your focus this month is going to be on love, romance and relationships. The Two of Buckets is the Tarot of the Zirkus Mägi’s version of the Two of Cups. It’s called “Love” in some versions and “Harmony” in this one.

It speaks of finding your soul mate, your better half, your “one true love.” It’s the card associated with male / female, yin / yang energy and the concept of opposites attracting.

It’s about a love so perfect that the two become one, making it nearly impossible to tell where one ends and the other begins. But true love takes on many forms. And it’s often marred by things like fear, jealousy, tension, uncertainty and sex.

And here we see none of these. We see a bond that’s so intimate and affectionate between a young child and her elephant friend. She leans in with a loving embrace and he responds as only an elephant friend would. He sits there patiently and contentedly, with his own offering of love in his trunk.

Jupiter is now in your relationship house, asserting a renewed sense of romantic idealism, as well as an openness to finding the sort of love that belies status quo expectations.

The New Moon also having taken place in this sector promotes the ideal of “self-love.” And what better way to manifest that energy than to see it mirrored back to you in its purest form?

If you’re thinking about diving back into the relationship arena this month, you’d do well to take a leaf from this unlikely pair’s book. Whether you’re in an established relationship now or just looking, holding yourself up to this kind of ideal can only benefit you in the end.

Strength

ARIES: Strength

This month you may be called upon to tame your inner beast, meaning that if you feel your emotions rising and you know they may get out of control if you give way to them then you need to reign those emotions in and find another way to express them.

On the surface you look happy and calm almost contented as if nothing can rattle you yet underneath a storm may be brewing.

Be on the lookout for anyone trying to press your buttons to seek a reaction from you. This may be of paramount concern to you this month with the Strength card — this version from the Anna K Tarot — as your talisman.

If you have been having trouble with someone and they know how to rile you then you need to be extra vigilant that you do not react the way they are hoping for. If you do you lose and they win.

The yellow sky shows a prevalence of mental abilities today yet if your mind is too cluttered with many different thoughts you may not get to the gist of what you are wanting to know.

The white dress shows you as innocent in some way… almost like a blank canvas waiting to see what sprouts forth. Whatever does come forth for you today you can be sure it will not be small.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Oct 7, 2015 — The Devil

The Devil

The Devil

As Mars opposes Neptune today, you may be thinking about ways to escape from the limitations in your life that have been holding you back. As Neptune is associated with confusion, uncertainty, escapism and avoidance, it’s very possible that the restrictions you find yourself struggling against have all been self-imposed.

The Devil card — this version from the gorgeous Japaridze Tarot  — encourages you to move past some of the restrictions you’ve imposed on yourself, particularly with respect to the more unsavory emotions — jealousy, anger, paranoia, fear, etc.

The Devil in this card is a vibrant yet frightening combination of ominous symbols and machinery. There are spikes and gears and flames and misshapen wheels, with a dark and gloomy tower in the background and bats flying overhead.

It’s a surreal painting — the stuff the nightmares are made of and things that go bump in the night. Much like a Mars / Neptune opposition, it’s hard to tells just what is going on here, other than the fervent desire to wake up and make it all go away.

The chains that bind you are not only holding you back but are largely self-imposed. Ask yourself what is preventing you from breaking them? The answer is negative emotions, self-doubts and fears.

If you have a bigger monkey on your back — such as addiction or another unhealthy form of debauchery — now is also the time to come clean with yourself about it and get it taken care of. Whatever it is, know that the Devil card is here to remind you that only you can reclaim your power. You can liberate yourself from the chains that bind you only if you’re brave enough to face them first.

Ten of Cups

ARIES: Ten of Cups

This month you want to remember to count your blessings, knowing that you’ve come to a place in your life where you’re aware of what (and whom) truly matters most.

The Ten of Cups tells you that you’ve achieved something worth acknowledging and celebrating, as seen in the imagery of this card. It represents fulfillment and security; a solid foundation of abundance and prosperity, and the sense that you have built something you can take pride in.

This extends well beyond financial or material security. It’s more about family, lasting friendships and a sense of comfort — in your home and your community — surrounded by people you love.

In this version of the card, from the Morgan Greer Tarot, we see two strong arms — a man’s and a woman’s — lifting a golden chalice up in a show of harmony and unity.

A colorful rainbow pours into the chalice, while nine more cups are lined up like a staircase behind them, reminding us of the steps that have been taken to lead us to where we are today. The landscape behind them is serene and peaceful, with lush verdant hillsides and trees. Even the surface of the water is calm.

The Ten of Cups is all about embracing all you’ve established through your connections and interactions with others. It’s about happiness and security in the areas that matter most — with family, friends and loved ones.

This is not the time to think about what is lacking in your life but rather what makes it complete. And while you don’t want to be resting on your laurels, it’s important to acknowledge those who are most important to you and who keep your cup continuously full.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jul 15, 2015 — The Chimaera

Chimera

The Chimaera

Today’s New Moon in Cancer brings the number of planets in water signs to seven!  In addition to the Sun and Moon, there’s also Mercury and Mars (in Cancer), Neptune and Chiron (in Pisces) and Saturn in Scorpio.

All this watery energy brings emotions to the forefront — and not particularly pleasant emotions, especially as Mercury and Mars meet up in Cancer today and move into opposition with Pluto.

This in an intense configuration that can be both volatile and explosive. It can manifest as anger, obsession, paranoia, resentment and rage. It can have you seeing red — or feeling like letting your claws come out like the Chimaera in this card.

This is the Incidental Tarot’s version of the Devil card. The Chimaera is a sort of hybrid creature who is part serpent, part lion and part goddess. She’s seductive and destructive — very much like the Mercury / Mars / Pluto configuration.

The Devil / Chimaera card can also indicate addictions and temptations. Being seduced by people and experiences (drugs, sex, risky behavior) that are just not good for you.  And dealing with the darker side of humanity (or your own psyche).

It’s going to be important to find a positive outlet for your emotions today and to keep a lid on unhealthy and destructive behaviors. The Chimaera card implores you to get in touch with your own shadow side and turn those negative emotions into something more positive.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 31, 2015 — The Devil

The Devil

The Devil

As the Sun squares Neptune today, you may be thinking about ways to escape from the limitations in your life that have been holding you back. As Neptune is associated with confusion, uncertainty, escapism and avoidance, it’s very possible that the restrictions you find yourself struggling against have all been self-imposed.

The Devil card — this version from the gorgeous Dreaming Way Tarot — encourages you to move past some of the restrictions you’ve imposed on yourself, particularly with respect to the more unsavory emotions — jealousy, anger, paranoia, fear, etc.

If you look at the figures in this card, the Devil herself is bound up in some sort of straight-jacket configuration. She has two smaller beings chained to her, but the chains are loose and her manner of holding them is almost apathetic.

She’s either indifferent to their plight or is so sure of her hold over them that she doesn’t think there’s anything to worry about.

But these two figures could easily unchain themselves and slip away. So what is preventing them from doing that? Back to the self-imposed restrictions — namely negative thoughts and fears.

Your challenge today is to figure out what’s been holding you back — what chains you’ve bound yourself up in — and release yourself from them.

If you have a bigger monkey on your back — such as addiction or another unhealthy form of debauchery — now is also the time to come clean with yourself about it and get clean. Whatever it is, know that the Devil card is here to remind you that only you can reclaim your power. You can liberate yourself from the chains that bind you only if you’re brave enough to face them first.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jan 26, 2015 — The Devil

The Devil

The Devil

It’s going to be important today to examine all of your emotional reactions — particularly the baser, more difficult to acknowledge reactions, like anger, resentment, jealousy and fear.

The Devil card refers to the areas in our lives where each of us are limited or imprisoned by those reactions. Sometimes it can manifest as lashing out or projecting shadow material onto others. And sometimes it can manifest as self-harm, such as indulging in drugs or other self-defeating behaviors.

In the end it’s really about giving up control through a desperate attempt to maintain it. The Devil in this card — from the Morgan Greer Tarot — is a sinister satanic-looking goat-demon (Baphomet) with sharp fangs and piercing yellow eyes.

An inverted gold star (representing evil and malice) and a candle burning down to the quick are seated above his head. I loved what Avia Venefica had to say about the fly, which is basically a reference to the negativity we feed upon as well as the pesky little annoyances that interfere with our ability to achieve enlightenment.

The diminishing light from the candle’s flame reminds me of one of the greatest dangers inherent in this card. It’s the lack of clarity and insight that leads to our own undoing. And as most our negative emotions are rooted in fear, keeping that light burning is essential.

As Venus, Uranus and Pluto all come together today in a set of uncomfortable aspects, you might need to look at the ways you’ve given up your own personal power. It could be physical — as in an involvement in an unbalanced or dysfunctional relationship — or it could be psychological — as in being consumed by unhealthy emotions.

Whatever it is, know that the Devil card is here to remind you that only you can reclaim your power. You can liberate yourself from the chains that bind you only if you’re brave enough to face them first.

Sept 2014 Tarot Scopes featuring the Tarot of Delphi

Tarot of Delphi -- the Sun

ARIES: The Sun

This month should see you feeling a sense of satisfaction and contentment over recent accomplishments.

The Sun card is traditionally associated with vitality, warmth and a sense of feeling particularly “alive.” But in this version the focus is just as much on taking care of yourself and manifesting that vitality through soaking in the Sun’s rays and recharging your batteries.

The Sun, Mercury and Venus all move through your 6th house this month — the area associated with work and with self-improvement, which includes your physical and mental well-being. Rest and relaxation is just as essential to that process as are work and productivity.

The “Sun” in this card appears to be setting. It casts its rays onto the ocean in the background, shining across the surface like molten gold.

The image of the woman sleeping comfortably without a worry in the world perfectly captures the essence of the Sun. There’s a sense of effortlessness that’s associated with this card, even as the world keeps on turning around you.

Your ruler (Mars) moves into Sag this month (on the 13th) and into your 9th house — the area associated with personal growth and expansion. After that point there will be plenty of time to spread your wings and fly.
