Ace of Wands

 Ace of Wands

Today — as Jupiter moves into Leo — for the first time in over 12 years — you want to be thinking about what you want to accomplish during this next chapter in your life.

The Ace of Wands is card of passion and raw unformed energy. It’s the spark of an idea that can be harnessed and then channeled into something tangible and real.

This version of the card pairs the William Blake painting “Ancient of Days,” which portrays God as an architect creating the world, with a quote often attributed to Goethe:  “Whatever you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”

The Ace of Wands is a card of inspiration: it’s that fire that burns inside of each of us that even when it flickers or goes dim, it never completely dies out. It’s the spark of imagination, self-expression and passion that permits us to allow our “wildest dreams” to manifest — even if only in our dreams.

You can work with this energy yourself — depending on where this transit falls in your own natal chart. If you don’t know and would like to find out, feel free to post your birth date (as well as time if known and place of birth) in the comments section below, and we’ll be happy to tell you.

Free Daily Tarotscope — July 12, 2014 — Seven of Swords

Seven of Swords

Today — with Mercury and Jupiter in semi-sextile — you want to work on trusting your instincts and staying tuned in to your environment.

The Mercury /Jupiter aspect can act as a trigger for internal conflict and mental discord. Anxiety. Uncertainty. It can cause you to be touchy or “jumpy,” guarded and apprehensive.

You could be dealing with trust issues, as in questioning other people’s motives or agendas. You could be questioning your own instincts, or fretting over something that just feels “off. It can be especially challenging for you to navigate through uncharted territories, much like the woman in this version of the card.

There are elements of fear, uncertainty and even paranoia associated with this card. This usually comes from overthinking and over-analyzing things to the point where your own intuition becomes hopelessly compromised.

While there’s no question that there are situations that call for you to be more guarded, you don’t want to make things worse by projecting your suspicions onto others.

The Seven of Swords calls for you to be mindful and alert, but you want to be just as aware of the potential for jumping to illogical conclusions.

This Mercury Jupiter transit is considered “minor” but it can wreak a lot of havoc. Especially if you’re easily distracted or given to emotional reactions.

Free Daily Tarotscope — July 11, 2014 — Two of Swords

Two of Swords

Two of Swords

You may feel like you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place today as you struggle with a decision that’s not going to be easy to make.

Perhaps this is why you’ve held off in the first place, as the the Two of Swords refers to not just feeling torn between two options but wanting to avoid making a choice between them as well.

The figure in this card is blind-folded and holding up two sharp swords. She may be leaning towards one but she’s not taking any steps to act on it.

In this respect the Two of Swords can refer to inaction and immobility. Sometimes this is due to fear: “What if I make the wrong decision?” But it’s just often related to a desire to not have to choose at all.

You may also find yourself at a Spiritual impasse, torn between two diametrically opposed urges: head vs. heart , love vs. lust, comfort vs. passion, etc.

The Two of Swords says you’re on the fence about an important decision, weighing both sides of an argument, or looking for ways to reconcile two different but equally valid points. You’ll need to rise above your personal biases so you can assess your dilemma from an objective standpoint.

Alternately you may have come to an impasse with someone and are actualizing this energy through passive resistance.

Free Daily Tarotscope — July 7, 2014 — Four of Cups

4 of cups

Four of Cups

What are you pouring into your dreams and where does it come from?

Is it from you or a divine source? And does it keep you awake at night or allow you to gently slumber and “see” the answers you seek within your dreams?

There is a suggestion in this card that your life is either half full or half empty and depending on how you perceive your situation or how you tackle your problems that you will arrive at your answer in your own good time and in your own good way.

If there was something you could do to facilitate the process of finding an answer to change your lot in life would you do it?

It’s an interesting question considering that one figure in this card is restlessly awake while the other is not and it is the figure who is sleeping who seems to be acquiring the additional help and assistance s/he needs to tackle his dilemma awake with an answer.

The fact that the benefactor, in Angel form, also seems to share this view in that she stands directly above the sleeping figure while her eyes are on the restless soul caught up in the problems that keeps him so awake only goes to prove that there are answers being given to you and it may be that you need to take some “time out” to “hear” the answers.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 30, 2014 — Four of Pentacles

Four of Pentacles

Four of Pentacles

What exactly are you holding onto and what do you need to let go of?

The 4 of Pentacles is a card of keeping what you have and not letting go of it. Whether this be, as is implied by the pentacles… money or possibly something else in your life ie an outdated idea, emotions that do not serve you well or even points of view on a situation that if you don’t shift will keep the situation in status quo.

Look at the figure in this card s/he is hanging onto the tree for dear life. Each limb is attached to a pentacle and even though s/he is quite clear thinking as can be seen from the light above the head there is also a capacity here to be so caught up in one’s thinking that it doesn’t take you forward but keeps you stuck in outdated modes of action.

There is treasure in this card. Gemstones light the way to a pile of riches laid out spectacularly under the tree… almost growing within the tree and giving it sustenance. You may need to let go a little of your preconceived ideas in order to build your wealth or take advantage of opportunities that come your way without holding on too tightly to what you think you may or may not lose.

You have the capacity to go far. You will not lose anything if you take the risk… no apples are falling from the tree, nothing is rotting on the ground, nothing about this card speaks of loss. The path you need to take is softly lit and it will not be difficult to take the first step which is also illuminated from the 9 crystals placed around the treasure within the tree.

Page of Cups

Page of Cups

Following hot on the heels of yesterday’s new moon in Cancer we have the Page of Cups gently contemplating what is going on both within and without of him or her.

You’ll notice that this version of the Page of Cups has both a feminine and masculine quality. I usually read the Page of Cups as a male but I am definitely seeing the feminine within this version which gives a basis for what today is about. Getting in touch with both sides of yourself… the masculine and the feminine.

There is no pushing or pulling going on in this card. Everything is flowing. It is a great opportunity to accept yourself and the many facets with your character without judgement just letting things flow in and out and around you.

There is a lot of creativity around for you today and if you find yourself looking at something and seeing it in a different way then stay with what you are seeing and see what it brings up for you. Its time to play and feel childlike and allow the energy of the Cancer new moon to light your path.

Notice the little dots surrounding the upper part of the card where it is blue almost as if they are thoughts captured in the air and there are a lot of them to choose from. Yet there is no tension in this figure… thoughts come and thoughts go and still there is serenity and peace within you.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 22, 2014 — Ace of Coins

Ace of Coins

Ace of Coins

You know exactly what you are doing today and will not be swayed by luck or chance.

The figure in this image holds an I Ching coin which are used for divination purposes however there are no question marks surrounding what you need to next to proceed and you do not need any divination tools to tell you what needs to be done.

You are already packed and ready to go on a new venture and are ready for whatever comes your way.

If there is a new venture you have been wanting to start do not delay. You know what you need to do next and the energy in the red blossoms clinging to the tree despite the signs of a strong wind only spur you on to take your first step forward into the unknown… or is it the known?

With the Sun in Cancer today and the Moon in Taurus there is a lot of stability and security around that means you will not be second guessing what is coming next. My money would be on you knowing exactly what is coming next and where it is coming from.

You also know what to do to avoid any pitfalls in the road that lays before you and whilst you may just be sitting down to have a rest or a break from monetary and/or business matters you are ready to get up and go at a moment’s notice.

Free Daily Tarotscope — June 20, 2014 — The Hierophant

Hierophant

The Hierophant

Today as Chiron turns retrograde, you might be looking at how some of your own life experiences — including those that have brought you pain — have led you to express more kindness, compassion and understanding toward others.

Chiron was known as the “Wounded Healer” in Greek mythology. Chiron the planet represents a similar dynamic in astrology. It refers to the point of “woundedness” — which so often results in immense compassion and understanding — in the natal  chart.

Unlike other savage and unruly Centaurs, Chiron was intelligent, wise and humble. He was a teacher as well as a healer. He taught medicine to the ruling class from a specially prepared cave. He was known as a great healer, but having been accidentally pricked by a poisoned arrow, was unable to heal himself.

I love this version of the Hierophant card, which is usually so steeped in traditional religious symbolism that it’s hard for many to relate to. But all of us have a vast amount of untapped wisdom locked away in our own private “caves.” Sometimes this wisdom is hidden even from ourselves. And this is where embracing the Chiron retrograde archetype comes in.

This is a time of turning inward and accessing previously undiscovered gifts. Often it’s those experiences that have broken us down that lend themselves to our greatest strengths. The retrograde encourages us to look within and to break through some of the traumas that have been holding us back.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 12, 2014 — Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

You may have so much on your plate today that it feels like “rush rush rush” for you as you scramble to get things accomplished.

The Eight of Wands is all about action, progress and momentum. It’s about getting things done and making things happen.

It may be as simple as ticking off all the little things on your to-do list, and it may be as significant as making great headway on an important project.

While it might feel to you like there just aren’t enough hours in the day, you could be surprised when the day is over to see how much you really accomplished.

The Eight of Wands is a high energy card and also sometimes refers to travel. In that respect it  relates to being literally and physically on the go. Are you planning a weekend getaway? Use this extra energy to make preparations for your trip.

Look at the Eight Unicorns galloping down the canyon on this card. They’re raring to go and although not all of them are moving in the same direction, they’ all appear to know exactly where they’re going.

The Moon is in Sagittarius today. Although it’s not quite full, it’s getting there and will be by the time the weekend rolls around.

Think about what it is you want to accomplish right now. The Eight of Wands encourages you to take the initiative and to get the ball rolling.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 11, 2014 — Six of Swords

Six of Swords

Six of Swords

You may be on the verge of making important changes in your life, and in doing so will have to think about what you’re taking with you and what you need to leave behind.

This doesn’t necessarily mean material things; in fact that’s rarely what it means. It’s more about attitudes and belief systems, as well as a life you may have built and dreams you may have dreamed that are no longer capable of sustaining you.

The Six of Swords is a card of transition and change. Moving from one “place” to another, if only in your mind. Notice how the woman in this card is huddled and shrouded from view. She’s protecting herself from more than just the elements.

She may be mourning the loss of her previous existence, or she may be reflecting on the choices she’s made to leave it all behind. Either way, she’s put her faith in the ferryman to get to her safely to her new destination.

Notice too that while the waves are choppy beneath them, they start to smooth out the closer they get to the other shore. And speaking of that other shore, the landscape’s silhouette appears to be promising. It’s lush, flourishing and full of potential.

This is the message behind the Six of Swords. You may not be where you want to be just yet, but you’re moving in the right direction.

Free Daily Tarotscope — June 10, 2014 — King of Cups

 King of Cups

Today is all about getting in touch with your feelings and emotions. As with all of the court cards, the King of Cups may refer to an individual in your life, or it may represent an attitude of mindset that you need to adopt.

In this version of the card, we see the Greek god Orpheus, son of Apollo and Calliope, known as a passionate and loving priest. He sits on golden throne at the edge of the sea, a chalice in one hand and his lyre in the other. A pair of crabs, the symbol for the astrological sign of Cancer, are etched into the armrests, while another crab — this time a living one — emerges from the sea and scuttles onto the base of his throne.

Today’s Moon is in watery Scorpio, and for at least part of the day conjunct Saturn and in trine to both Jupiter and Chiron. The conjunction with Saturn lends an air of authority and discipline, while the trines to Jupiter and Chiron add sensitivity, vulnerability and compassion. What better representative of those energies than Orpheus himself?

Orpheus was a great minstrel whose hauntingly beautiful melodies not only lulled the sleepless dragon to sleep, but gained him entrance into the Underworld to retrieve his beloved Eurydice, after her tragic death. And retrieve her he did, almost making it back to the entrance before he defied the god Hades’ one condition: “Don’t look back.”

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 8, 2014 — Two of Cups

Two of Cups

Two of Cups

Today you may find yourself bonding intimately — or strengthening an existing bond — with another.

The Two of Cups speaks of falling in love, finding your other half, or connecting with another on such a powerful level that the two become one.

This isn’t necessarily a love-connection. It can refer to a sisterhood, a business partnership, a parent/child relationship or some other deep bond. It refers to the “sum of the parts being greater than the whole” axiom, which reminds us that two heads (and hearts) are better than one.

In the context of romance though, this is a very passionate depiction. The trine between Venus and Pluto today can intensify your encounters with prospective partners, as it lends a smoldering sexual undertone to those connections.

They say opposites attract and nowhere is that more evident than it is in this rendition of the card. We see a skeletal figure dressed in lavish royal garb. He commiserates seductively with an under-dressed and blackened representation of night (or “midnight” judging from the clock in the background). A crescent moon hangs low in the sky between them.

Has he impregnated her? She places a protective hand over her swollen womb. Droplets of blood collect on the floor, implying that he’s also stolen her virtue. This is not an unwelcome seduction though. They’re in this together.
