Here is the Ask the Astrologers Astro Forecast for the week of Jan 10, 2016 – Jan 16, 2016:
We start the week on Sunday with a New Moon at 19° Capricorn 13″. The New Moon in Capricorn represents a time for simplifying your life and removing all of the clutter that’s accumulated over the last several months and may be hindering your progress. It’s a time for looking at what’s important — or going to be important over the next 12 months — and weeding out what is no longer useful for you or conducive to your growth.
The Capricorn Moon also refers to getting serious about your goals, your profession and your public standing. And as this particular New Moon is closely conjunct to Pluto and square to Uranus, issues with authority figures or power struggles may come to light.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree is “A Hidden Choir Singing.” This brings to mind the idea of safety in numbers, unseen forces, spiritual protection and guidance. Pay attention to messages you receive during this time. You may overhear something that will have relevance to you later on or may be moved by a song or musical piece that reminds you of voices from the past.
The Moon moves into Aquarius Sunday night, where it will remain all through Monday and most of Tuesday. The Aquarius Moon is about being innovative and thinking outside the box. You may encounter some very opinionated people during this time, or you may find yourself getting a little more rigid about your own progressive ideas. It’s a good time to think about marching to the beat of your own drum. But try to tone down any inclination to be rebellious or defiant.
On Wednesday there are three trines — the Sun trine Jupiter, Mercury trine the North Node and Venus trine Uranus. As trines as known to be harmonious aspects, this makes for a relatively pleasant day. But they’re also said to be a bit lazy. When things are going well we aren’t generally motivated to make changes; we tend to sit back on our laurels and let the good times roll.
The Sun / Jupiter trine is particularly fortuitous. It brings the planet that rules growth, expansion and personal evolution into harmony with the Self. It represents feeling good about yourself. Feeling upbeat, optimistic, generous and carefree. It can manifest as expecting only the best and having the Universe respond in kind.
The Mercury / North Node trine is all about developing a comfortable rapport with others. It’s about generating a meeting of the minds and communing with those who are on the same page. As the North and South Nodes are always in opposition, the North Node trines Mercury at the same time it sextiles the South Node. Think of this as a relatively painless give and take, even with Mercury retrograde.
Venus trine Uranus can ignite an attraction or even bring in a new love interest. This isn’t necessarily a life-altering or even long term connection. It’s more likely to manifest as a playful flirtation or short-lived fling. Don’t focus too much on where it may be heading. Stay in the moment and enjoy it for what it is. It may be fleeting and it may be insignificant, but it’s still bound to be fun.
The Sun conjuncts Mercury and Venus squares Chiron on Thursday. With respect to the Mercury conjunction, which is called “cazimi” (in the heart of the Sun), its influence is said to be heightened and energized by the Sun. But because Mercury is retrograde and essentially “hidden” by the Sun, this conjunction can be somewhat problematic. The main thing to watch for is information that is hidden or lacking which can result in making ill-informed decisions.
The Venus / Chiron square is more about challenges related to establishing clear boundaries and identifying personal values. You may struggle with figuring out what it is you really want and feeling deserving of it. This aspect can bring martyring tendencies to the surface. Causing you to regret or feel guilty about what would ordinarily make you feel good. And prompting you to make sacrifices that you’re likely to resent later on.
There are a couple more trines on Friday: The Sun and North Node are in trine as are Mercury and Jupiter. Starting with the Sun / North Node trine (which also automatically sextiles the South Node). This aspect is all about coming to terms with who you are and being more than ok with it. Bringing the lessons of the past (South Node) into harmony with where you are today. As this is an Earth sign trine it may have a lot more to do with practical considerations than anything else. Things like what you’ve accomplished in your life and where you are heading professionally.
The Mercury / Jupiter trine is complicated a bit by the fact that Jupiter is debilitated (by sign) and Mercury is retrograde. But because it’s a trine (easy, harmonious). and because these planets are natural polarities, this aspect should be relatively pain-free. It may not be the best time to make travel plans or to embark on serious studies, but it should be good for communicating your ideas to others and learning from them as well.
Saturday’s Aries Moon conjuncts Uranus and then trines Venus. This sets up some favorable opportunities for weekend adventure and romance. It’s not the time to get bogged down in monotony or routine. And it’s not the time to get too serious about anything. It’s more about trying something new and exploring your freedom and independence. Plan for a weekend getaway or just get out and let your hair down socialize with others.
That’s it for this week, see you next Sunday!
