Here is the Ask the Astrologers Astro Forecast for the week of Jan 24, 2016 – Jan 30, 2016:
This week starts with a Full Moon at 3° Leo 29″ on Sunday. The Leo Full Moon is all about honor, dignity, pride and integrity. It’s a warm, generous, creative and expressive energy that may see you feeling more confident about yourself and more indulgent of loved ones. This Full Moon is called the “Wolf Moon” in Native American traditions, and is sometimes referred to as the Old Moon, even though it’s the first Full Moon of the year.
The Sabian symbol for this degree is “A Man Formally Dressed Stands Near Trophies He Brought Back From A Hunting Expedition.” This symbol speaks of putting your best foot forward, showing the rest of the world what you are made of and taking pride in your achievements. You may be excited about having been singled out or recognized by others, but you’ll also want to tone down any attempts to brag, impress others, or show off. There’s also some caution here about being too formal, or boring others with your exploits.
Although Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are all visible in the night sky at this time, the light of the Full Moon may obscure them from view. Pluto is also rising ahead of the Sun now (and conjunct Mercury) but as it’s not visible to the naked eye even on the darkest night we might be tempted to overlook it.
However this is a powerful Pluto placement, with its conjunction to Mercury exact twice in one week (due to the Mercury retrograde.) It’s also at 15° Capricorn — the degree it went stationary retrograde on last April, which means it’s taken this long to cross its own shadow point.
Speaking of Mercury retrograde, if you’re like everyone else, you’re asking “when does it end?” And the answer is Monday, when it goes stationary direct (at 14° Capricorn 58″). The Sabian symbol for this degree is “A children’s ward of a hospital.” One thing that comes to mind here is the idea of caring for others and extending that care to your own inner child. Healing from childhood traumas and reconnecting with those who cared for you in the past.
Because it’s in Capricorn — and again conjunct Pluto — it may require you to do a lot of work on yourself. It’s a time for soul searching and letting go of painful associations. But also a time for making difficult decisions and getting very clear about what you’re capable of accomplishing from this point forward.
Aside from some lunar transits between Tuesday and Friday, the following days are relatively calm. Although the Full Moon is still in effect and there are some minor irritants (a couple periods where the Moon in void of course and some hard aspects between the Moon and outer planets).
On Saturday, Venus sextiles Neptune and Mercury completes its second conjunction to Pluto. The Venus / Neptune sextile is always nice since Neptune is the higher octave of Venus and these two planets “holding hands (sextiling) one another emphasizes their respective influences. The sextile aspect relates to assistance and cooperation. The Venus / Neptune combination is often present in relationships that are based on spiritual, creative or altruistic notions.
This transit is excellent for tapping into your psychic abilities and can also be instrumental in creating soul connections with romantic interests. There are unconditional love aspects to the Venus / Neptune sextile but be careful: it’s also associated with escapism and self-deception, such as relationships where neither party sees the other one clearly. This transit can also manifest as co-dependency or escapism.
The Mercury / Pluto conjunction can increase your desire for privacy and see you playing things closer to the vest.
Mercury in Pluto (natally) is said to be a natural psychologist. It combines the influences of the planet that rules thoughts, ideas, communications, etc. with the sign tied to depth, passion. mystery and the unknown. Put them together and you have a powerhouse of insight into motivations and agendas — yours and everyone else’s.
You do want to keep your suspicions in check though. This transit can bring trust issues to the forefront and can see you reading into things that are just not there. It can be probing, hypervigilant or even intrusive. And it can manifest as outright paranoia. If you find yourself questioning what others are telling you or assuming that there’s more than meets the eye in every scenario, ask yourself what evidence you have and whether it might be best to keep some things to yourself.
That’s it for this week, see you next Sunday!
