Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of May 29, 2016 – June 4, 2016:
This week starts out on Sunday with a “bang,” starting with Mars having retrograded back into Scorpio, and Saturn and Jupiter involved in a tense square. Mars is at home in Scorpio — a sign it co-rules with Pluto — and is especially powerful there, but because it’s retrograde and at an anaretic degree, the potential for that power to be misused is strong. Hidden resentments — or long-forgotten slights — can come bubbling back up to the surface and if so, they will need to be dealt with during this time.
The Jupiter / Saturn square is tense: it delivers a healthy dose of hard cold reality (Saturn) to the optimistic and enthusiastic Jupiter influence. It can throw a wrench into your plans or act as a wakeup call, especially if you’ve been riding along on fumes rather than paying attention to the road.
Fortunately there are also some pleasant transits at the beginning of the week, beginning with Venus and the asteroid Vesta in close conjunction in Gemini. Gemini is also the esoteric ruler of Venus — as the catalyst through which the concept of “Love” first emerges — and combined with Vesta (the goddess of home and hearth) — you’ll hopefully experience some favorable and comforting interactions with loved ones and family members.
There’s a nice grand Earth trine involving Mercury, Pluto and the North Node on Tuesday. The Pluto / Mercury portion of this configuration is good for digging in deep and ferreting out information. It’s also excellent for doing research, and for having deep, soulful, meaningful conversations with those who’ve gained your trust.
This is especially useful in the context of relationship, as the Node connection brings in karmic interactions with others. Whether this relates to romantic relationships or friendships and family members, keep in mind that a lot of progress can be made during this transit.
The Sun squares Neptune on Thursday, setting in motion a domino effect of squares and oppositions that ultimately merge into a tight t-square involving Sun, Saturn, Venus and Neptune — all in mutable signs.
Starting with the Sun / Neptune square: this aspect which may see you feeling unsure about yourself and questioning your own self-worth as well as how you may be perceived by others. It can cause you to ignore — either through confusion, denial or avoidance — outright signs of deception and duplicity. It can also manifest as insecurity, self-doubts, and hypersensitivity to criticism.
Venus joins in on Friday — also squaring Neptune — and the two of them (Venus and the Sun) join together to oppose Saturn. This is the t-square referenced above, and once you pull Jupiter in (exact on Saturday) it becomes a grand cross.
This is an incredibly tense aspect with 5 planets vying for power and all at odds with one another. What may have started out as self-delusion and self-deception (Venus/ Sun / Neptune) develops into an intense configuration that can manifest as an existential crisis, especially as this particular grand cross is mutable, which means it’s likely to change from one minute to the next.
This continues into Saturday (when the Sun square Jupiter and Venus opposite Saturn aspects fall into place). The goal here is to balance out the opposing forces — Sun / Venus / Saturn and Jupiter / Neptune — without adding pressure to all those squares. An opposition is always about “forced integration.”
So in this case you want to work on redefining your sense of Self, your Ego and personal values (Sun/ Venus/ Saturn), and on finding a middle ground between evolution and expansion (Jupiter) and hope and inspiration (Neptune).
If you think that’s a lot to chew on, wait until next week when we’ve got a stressfully-aspected New Moon and a handful of tense squares, oppositions and inconjuncts. As they say in the movies, Hold onto your hats. You’re going to be in for a bumpy ride!
That’s it for this week, see you next Sunday!
