Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Forecast for the week of Apr 13, 2020 – Apr 19, 2020:
This week starts with a (still Full) void of course Moon in Sagittarius on Monday. This is an expansive and spirited Moon, with a strong focus on personal and spiritual evolution. It inspires us to think about travel, adventure, spirituality, philosophy and higher mind pursuits. It takes us out of our comfort zones and gets us thinking about how the other half lives.
The void of course Moon is not really a big deal. It’s a relatively common occurrence that will most likely fly by imperceptibly; by 1:00 am (UT) it will have moved into Capricorn where it will conjunct its own South Node and square Mercury in the early morning hours. With so many of us practicing social isolation these days, we may have to get creative about pursuing the Sagittarian interests (such as travel, adventure and the outdoors) and the Capricornian interests (such as business and public standing) as well.
But speaking of social isolation, it’s interesting to note that from the next few weeks the entire lineup of planets will be contained within the North and South Nodes. This doesn’t change until the 28th when the Moon crosses the North Node in Cancer. On Tuesday we have the Sun squaring Pluto, which can definitely see people testing those boundaries.
With the Sun representing Ego and Pluto representing power, we might see (or take part in) a battle of wills. The recommendation of course is to channel that energy into something productive rather than destructive. Especially with the Sun in aggressive Aries and Pluto in authoritative Capricorn,
By Wednesday, ten planets (all but Venus) are all with a 70 degree space, with two stelliums — Moon, Jupiter, Pluto, Saturn and Mars, and Mercury, Chiron, Lilith and the Sun making up the bulk of it. This may be the new normal (for now), but let’s hope that as those planets spread out again, we’ll start to do the same.
Remember that Venus — which is outside that 70 degree spanse — is also slowing down now in anticipation of going retrograde, It doesn’t change direction for another month, but when i does it comes all the way back to where it is now (7 º Gemini) and then some. So our most social planet is also cooperating with the Universe by slowing down, turning inward and re-evaluating social norms.
But in the meantime we have Jupiter squaring the Sun and Mercury conjuncting Chiron, also on Wednesday. The Sun / Jupiter square is known for biting off more than it can chew and making promises it’s not able to keep. So keep this in mind when you’re offering someone the world or volunteering your services. Make sure you can follow through with whatever you say you’re going to do.
The Mercury / Chiron conjunction joins up with the Dark Moon Lilith on Thursday. Here’s where we are likely to see people joining forces to help those who need it most in these trying times. This three-planet stellium brings to mind images of putting our own needs aside while tending to the suffering of others.
Yes it’s in Aries — the “me first” sign. And the Moon is conjunct Mars in Aquarius. But this combination — with Chiron and Lilith on either side of Mercury — emphasizes action and advocacy (Aries and Aquarius) combined with compassion, altruism and grace.
Venus and Mercury are in sextile on Saturday, This transit is all about communion and collaboration. It’s a gracious and accommodating aspect that acts as a conduit for understanding. As Mercury is the planet associated with words, ideas, and the exchange of information, and Venus is the planet associated with fairness and cooperation, bringing them together in a harmonious (sextile) aspect can make for some very pleasant conversations.
This is a time to get in touch with your softer, gentler side. See the beauty all around you — in nature, in the music and the arts, and in friends, loved ones and strangers. Let your imagination take flight and open your heart to those who may need little more than a kind word or a shoulder to lean on.
Mercury next sextiles Mars, on Sunday, just as the Sun moves into Taurus. Mercury is actually at the midpoint of a Venus / Mars trine (exact on Monday, April 20th), which turns this into a planetary picture (Venus / Mars = Mercury). This is excellent for team projects, working collaboratively with others. It’s also good for feeling valued and supported, and for having heart-to-heart discussions with those you love.
The Sun in Taurus speaks of getting in touch with nature and the earth, and with taking care of “business.” This is a good time for thinking about making, saving and investing money. It’s also a good time for taking care of your physical body and for indulging all five senses.
While the Sun was in Aries you may have been so focused on getting things done that you didn’t have time to stop and smell the flowers. The Sun in Taurus not only slows you down enough to do just that, it also heightens your ability to appreciate and enjoy the prospect.
That’s it for this week. See you next week!
