Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Apr 9, 2018 – Apr 15, 2018:
We start the week on Monday with the Sun exalted in Aries — at 19° Aries, its exact degree of exaltation — just as Venus squares the lunar nodes. The Sun is exalted in Aries (even though it “rules” Leo) because Aries begins at the vernal point — the first moment of Spring — and as such represents the spark of life from which all everything else is born.
It’s exalted at the 19th degree of Aries because that is the square root of the 360 degree circle. The Sun is disposited by Mars which is currently also exalted, although only by sign not degree.
With respect to the Venus / Nodes square: It’s at what’s known in classical astrology as “at the bendings.” This is what a planet in exact square to the North and South Nodes is called, and refers to a period of crisis with emphasis on the concept of fate. As Venus represents romance and relationships (among other things, such as money, personal values and beauty / aesthetics) this can translate as problems identifying with these areas.
It can also manifest as feeling backed into a corner in relationship or being forced to choose between love and something (or someone) else. Feeling like it’s time to update your wardrobe, hair, fashion sense or psychical appearance. Being dissatisfied with what you have going in there areas, with the understanding that you need to make changes. It’s not the time to do a complete overhaul however. Remember that Mercury is retrograde and any decisions that you make during this time are unlikely to stick.
Fortunately Venus moves into a much more pleasant aspect on Wednesday; it trines Mars. Venus and Mars are both dignified right now, with Venus in the sign it rules (Taurus) and Mars in the sign of its exaltation (Capricorn). This aspect brings love and romance to the forefront.
It’s is all about going with the flow and staying in sync with your loved ones. It’s good for attracting new people into your life and for collaborating with others. As this is an earth sign trine, the energy is more sensuous and seductive, with emphasis is on collaboration and cooperation rather than resistance.
This is important since the Sun also square Pluto on Wednesday. That’s a much less harmonious or conciliatory aspect, and in fact it can be extremely volatile. It can erupt into power struggles or confrontations with others. Intense anger (rage), trust issues and overreactions are all potential manifestations of this transit,
This transit will hopefully be tempered by a Venus / Neptune sextile on Thursday as both of the planets are dignified by sign. It’s also significant in that Neptune is the higher octave of Venus, and these two planets “holding hands (sextiling) one another emphasizes their respective influences. The sextile aspect relates to assistance and cooperation. The Venus / Neptune combination is often present in relationships that are based on spiritual, creative or altruistic notions.
This transit is excellent for tapping into your psychic abilities and can also be instrumental in creating soul connections with romantic interests. There are unconditional love aspects to the Venus / Neptune sextile but be careful: it’s also associated with escapism and self-deception, such as relationships where neither party sees the other one clearly. This transit can also manifest as co-dependency or escapism.
We have a couple more sextiles on Saturday: with Mars sextiling Neptune and Jupiter sextiling Pluto. The Mars / Neptune sextile is sensitive, creative and idealistic. You may find that your intuition and psychic perceptions are off the charts during this time. The Mars / Neptune aspect can see you tuned into the music of the spheres like never before. This aspect reminds you that you are one with the Universe and everyone in it. It’s creative and compassionate and can inspire you to become a better person.
The Jupiter / Pluto trine brings in incredible opportunities to realize your goals. This is a powerful aspect that paves the way for the expression of personal charisma and power. It emphasizes leadership qualities which can see you standing up and being noticed.
This aspect is good for making favorable financial or business-related decisions. It increases confidence and can see you achieving whatever you set your mind to. Jupiter and Pluto in combination can be a force to be reckoned with, but because it’s in a harmonious aspect (a trine) the energy works well together and can see you soaring to great heights.
We all know Mercury has been retrograde and in case you’re wondering “when does it end?” the answer is Sunday, when it goes stationary direct (at 4° Aries 46′). Don’t expect everything to fall right back into place though, because we’ve still got a few weeks before it crosses its shadow point. Instead try to think of it as an “all clear” to start moving forward again after weeks of being held back.
In the meantime, you want to be prepared, as more change is on the horizon, starting next week. We’ll have lots going on, including a New Moon in Aries, two planets (the Sun and Chiron) changing signs, and two planets (Saturn and Pluto) going retrograde.
