Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Jan 8, 2018 – Jan 14, 2018:
This week starts with a handful of mostly-pleasant aspects (conjunctions and sextiles) on Monday. First there’s Mars and Jupiter — which are still conjunct — forming a sextile to the Sun, Venus and Pluto, which are also loosely conjunct.
Each of these aspects become exact at different times over a two day period, but they’re all so close together that it’s hard to completely separate them.
The Mars / Jupiter conjunction is significant since Mars in Scorpio (where it’s exalted) disposits Pluto, which it’s also currently sextiling. Jupiter amplifies the passion and confidence associated with this energy, while Pluto intensifies it. This combination is powerful; it can increase your confidence and rev up your libido. It can increase your urge to merge, especially with the Sun and Venus involved.
The Sun / Venus conjunction (exact on Tuesday) also sextiles Mars and Jupiter, with Pluto joining in later in the day. This is a powerful combination that emphasizes personal power and charisma. It marks a time of increased self-assurance and charisma.
Don’t be surprised if a partner or love interest starts trying to get frisky with you. Mars / Jupiter is bold, passionate and driven, while Sun / Venus / Pluto is seductive, alluring and captivating.
The Sun / Mars portion of this configuration becomes partile on Wednesday. At the same time, the Moon moves into Scorpio and sextiles Saturn. These two sextiles complement one another very well, bringing confidence and drive (Sun / Mars) together with discipline and determination (Moon / Saturn).
This aspect is all about taking initiative and making things happen. It’s about being assertive and expressing yourself with confidence and vitality. It’s good for breathing new life into projects that have made it past their point of inception but are still in the early stages. It’s also good for revamping your personal style and putting your best foot forward.
Mercury moves into Capricorn on Thursday, where it will remain until the end of January. This transit sets the stage for a more disciplined and practical ideas. This archetype is excellent for focusing your thoughts and getting clarity and perspective. It’s a good time to take stock of your environment and figure out what you needs to be eliminated. Nothing understands the concept of simplifying better than Mercury in Capricorn, so if you’ve been meaning to clear away the dead wood in your life, now is the time to do it.
It’s not the time to let yourself turn into Ebenezer Scrooge though. This archetype is known for being overly cynical and pessimistic. It can focus too much on what’s wrong with this picture and see the glass as perpetually half-full. But because it’s also capable to cutting through the BS and getting to the heart of the matter, you can take advantage of this transit by seeing it as a time to finally “get real.”
Mercury next conjuncts Saturn, on Saturday. At the same time, Venus squares Uranus. These transits work against one another in some ways. with the Mercury / Saturn aspect bringing focus and discipline to the table, while the Venus / Uranus aspect is erratic and unstable.
This configuration can see you simultaneously driven to get things done (Mercury / Saturn) and frustrated by unanticipated setbacks (Venus / Uranus). Conflicts can erupt — from seemingly out of nowhere — in both your personal relationships and your interactions with others. This aspect pits the urge to merge against the desire for freedom and independence, and can see you on a completely different page from your loved ones.
Because the Sun and Venus are moving so closely together, the Sun follows suit — and also squares Uranus — on Sunday. This aspect can bring out the rebel in you and everyone around you. You may feel like bucking the system or challenging other people’s attitudes. This aspect likes to go against the grain so be sure you’re really invested in whatever cause you’re devoting yourself to and not just doing things for shock value.
