Here is the Ask the Astrologers Forecast for the week of May 10, 2021 – May 16, 2021:
As we start this week (on Monday), Mercury conjuncts the North Node, thus simultaneously opposing the South Node. This can manifest as a chance encounter that turns out to be anything but in the end. Whether it’s a past-life connection or just someone you meet unexpectedly that turns into a significant connection, you want to pay attention.
Also be mindful of what you say and how you say it. Mercury is well placed in Gemini and as it represents communications and ideas, you want to be conscious of how your words come across to others. And remember that the Nodes are said to be karmic in nature. So pay attention to what you put out there as it could have long term repercussions.
We have a New Moon, at 21° Taurus 17′ on Tuesday. The Moon is exalted in Taurus, meaning that it’s a revered placement.
An exalted planet or luminary is said to express its clearest and purest essence in that sign, in this case the calmest, gentlest and most sensuous sign of all: Taurus.
As New Moons always represent new beginnings and opportunities to start anew, this one — in Taurus — presents opportunities for relaxing, meditating and getting grounded.
These are all Taurus Moon activities, with the idea of comfort, luxury, and getting in touch with nature and the earth being the corresponding theme. This Moon is earthy, composed and tranquil, although it can also be slow-moving and overly cautious. It prefers to savor meaningful experiences, much like someone would savor a meal or a bottle of fine wine.
Also on Tuesday, Mercury sextiles — and Mars squares — the planetoid Chiron. The Mars / Chiron square can see you fighting against the urge to put your own needs aside in favor of the “greater good.” While that might seem like a valid endeavor, it can also skew your perceptions and see you fighting for something you may not believe in after all.
This aspect is made all the more challenging by the fact that Mars is debilitated by sign and is still also out of bounds. But thankfully the sextile between Mercury and Chiron is there to soften some of the discord. It eases the transition between dissent and acceptance, making it not only okay to disagree but opening up the pathways toward acceptance and understanding.
This is a charitable aspect that compels you to reach into the very depths of your soul — where compassion, forgiveness and understanding all reside — and bring forth that which is within you in order to pass it on.
Mercury trines Saturn on Wednesday, while Mars sextiles Uranus. The Mercury / Saturn trine is good for clearing your head and for making solid, long-term plans. With both planets in their home signs, it’s also good for organizing your thoughts and for getting your point across with clarity and precision.
The Mars / Uranus sextile is a high-energy aspect that can have you feeling like you can succeed in anything you set your sites on. There’s not a lot of forethought there; it’s all action, energy and innovation. It’s moving forward in leaps and bounds, breaking through whatever has held you back in the past and pushing past limitations.
Jupiter moves into Pisces on Thursday, for the first time since early 2011. It’s at home in this sign, as the traditional ruler (and co-ruler, along with Neptune) of Pisces. Jupiter’s transit through Pisces expands and emphasizes the natural Piscean proclivities for compassion, benevolence and altruism.
During this time, you may be led to pursue higher knowledge or to seek out more meaning in your life. This is a highly impressionable and spiritual placement, that can signal a time of enhanced intuition and psychic awareness.
This transit, which is reinforced by a Sun / Neptune sextile that’s also in place on Thursday, may increase your awareness of the trials and tribulations that others are going through, as well as a desire to lend a helping hand.
Jupiter will remain in Pisces for only a few short months this time, as it goes retrograde in mid-June and then retreats back into Aquarius on July 28th. But not to worry: it will re-enter Pisces at the end of this year and remain there until May of 2022, with one last foray into this sign in the last few months of that year.
Mars makes a 150° (inconjunct) aspect to Saturn on Saturday. This transit can produce tension and frustration. It can manifest as a need to find a middle ground between the desire to make things happen (Mars) and a need for discipline and perseverance (Saturn).
This is not the time to try to push someone or force your will on others. You may also encounter someone who tries to do the same to you, in which case you’ll need to be on your toes.
The Moon joins in on Sunday, conjuncting Mars and inconjuncting Saturn. Although the Moon is at home in Cancer (the sign it rules), it will be briefly out of bounds and conjuncting a debilitated / out of bounds Mars, which may spell trouble.
The tensions and frustrations that were emphasized on Saturday (due to the inconjunct between Mars and Saturn) could be exacerbated by the emotions stirred up by that out of bounds Moon, which can lead to moodiness, hyper-sensitivity and defensiveness. Best to stay centered during this time as lunar transits are fleeting and will soon be replaced by others.
That’s it for this week! see you next week.
