Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Nov 18, 2019 – Nov 24, 2019:
There a lot happening this week, starting with an out of bounds Venus, Mercury changing direction and the Sun and Mars changing signs. We’ve also got the Leonid meteor showers peaking in the early hours of Monday morning.
Mars is not a happy camper at this time: it’s void of course, at an anaretic (29th) degree and debilitated by sign (Libra, the sign of its detriment). At its worst, Mars in Libra can be wishy-washy, indecisive or argumentative. It likes to ruffle feathers and play the devil’s advocate, often without even a clear commitment to its stance. But at its best, it’s a tireless advocate who’s willing to fight for what it sees as right, just or fair.
But it moves into Scorpio — a sign it’s much more comfortable in — on Tuesday. Mars is dignified in Scorpio, which it co-rules with Aries. This transit can see you delving more deeply into the inner workings of your own psyche. It brings a powerful, driven — and potentially even obsessive — desire to understand your own motivations and to uncover the same in others. It’s all about unraveling secrets and exploring that which is hidden.
This archetype is passionate and intense, but can become outraged or vindictive if it feels it’s been wronged in any way. It often feels persecuted or misunderstood. It’s driven to make things right and that may be uncomfortable for those on the receiving end of the Mars in Scorpio backlash. But it’s a deep, soulful, compelling energy that can see you getting in touch with your personal power.
On Wednesday, Mercury goes stationary direct at 11º Scorpio 40. After having been retrograde for the past few weeks, this change in direction can be a welcome relief. But it will take some time (until December 8th) to cross its shadow point and fully leave the retrograde behind.
Because it’s in Scorpio, it invites us to dig deep and scrutinize everything to the infinitesimal degree. This is an excellent placement for doing research and analysis, and can also be good for delving into the deepest darkest regions of your own psyche.
What it might not be so good for is communicating with loved ones. You’ll want to get a handle on the tendency to read into everything and see problems where there are none. This placement can be guarded and / or hyper vigilant. It can also be skeptical, suspicious or paranoid.
The good news is that nothing will get past you and no one is going to be able to play you for a fool. But the bad news is that this placement has so much difficulty taking anything at face value that having even a casual conversation can start to feel like walking through a land mine.
Mars inconjuncts Chiron on Thursday. This aspect can trip you up if you get to thinking too much or trying too hard to identify your goals. You may be trying to find ways reconcile your spirit warrior energy (Mars) with your wounded healer energy (Chiron). Because Mars is still also closely aspecting Uranus (the planet associated with humanitarian impulses), a good way to satisfy these competing urges would be to find a social cause that you can devote yourself to and then throw yourself into it wholeheartedly.
On Friday, the Sun moves into Sagittarius. As Sagittarius is the sign associated with expansion, evolution and growth, the Sun’s ingress into this sign evokes a shift in consciousness toward higher mind pursuits and may have you thinking about brushing up on your studies or pursuing new information and knowledge first hand. You may be thinking about going back to school or taking a trip abroad.
The Sun in Sagittarius archetype is associated first and foremost with personal expansion. How you manifest that will depending on your own evolutionary state, as well as your current focus and interests. You may experience an increased need for freedom and independence during this time in order to facilitate that expansion, through broadening your awareness of worldly affairs or re-evaluating your belief systems.
We end the week with Mars opposing Uranus on Sunday, just as Venus conjuncts Jupiter and the Sun trines Chiron. The Mars / Uranus opposition is a very high-energy transit. It can see you so invested in doing your own thing that the other (kinder / gentler) transits get trampled underfoot. You’ll have to surrender some of your radical ideas and focus instead on making love and not war.
Fortunately the Sun / Chiron trine softens some of this energy as it opens us up to the pain and suffering of others that we may normally overlook. It brings compassion and understanding to the forefront and can make it a little easier to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes.
Even more promising is the Venus / Jupiter conjunction, which is exact also on Sunday. This is an optimistic, enthusiastic and benevolent transit that can see you feeling so good about yourself that others respond in kind. Those feelings of goodwill are infectious and can result in opportunities that come to you through unexpected channels.
It can bring people into your life who want nothing but the best for you. Hold onto them and cherish their presence in your life. It can heighten your awareness of the beauty and grace that surround you even in the midst of turbulent times.
That’s it for this week. See you next week!
